Look out President Barack Obama. Even Sarah Palin's gaining on you.
A new McClatchy-Marist poll finds that Obama looks increasingly vulnerable in next year's election, with a majority of voters believing he'll lose to any Republican, a solid plurality saying they'll definitely vote against him and most potential Republican challengers gaining on him.
Even in potential matchups where he leads, Obama in most cases has lost ground to the Republican.
The biggest gain came for Palin, the former Alaska governor who hasn't yet announced whether she'll jump into the fast-changing race for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.
After trailing Obama by more than 20 percentage points in polls all year, the new national survey, taken Sept. 13-14, found Palin trailing the president by just 5 points, 49-44 percent. The key reason: She now leads Obama among independents, a sharp turnaround.
Overall, the gains among Republicans "speak to Obama's decline among independents generally, and how the middle is not his right now," said Lee Miringoff, director of the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion, which conducted the national survey.
"This will require him to find ways to either win back the middle or energize his base in ways that hasn't happened so farm" Miringoff said....

Sorry, honey, again, you missed the point. But you do that a lot. Hey, have you seen Palin lately???? WHY HASN’T SHE BEEN ON TV after the claims she made about PERRY!!!!!!!
I am sure you and others have points to make. Consider them made. Have a nice evening.
Thanks for bringing some sanity to this thread.
The link you cite has was posted on Thursday, December 16, 2010.Would you like to try again?
If you want to cite polls from that far back, how about this poll? PPP conducted a poll during that same time frame that asked, who’s views are closer to your own, Barack Obama or Sarah Palin? Results — Palin 52% — Obama 40%
Or, perhaps you could look at the PPP poll from North Carolina from two weeks ago. It showed Palin winning independents by 14 points over Obama. That coincidentally, is a similar result to the latest poll; independents in North Carolina and nationally are turning to Palin in fairly large numbers.
So, who is your candidate? Where have their polls gone in the past few weeks? If your candidate is subjected to the pounding that Palin has taken for the last three years will they survive? And, make no mistake the eventual Republican nominee will get the Palin treatment; why should we nominate someone that we cannot be sure will hold up under the attacks?
But, but.....all these Perry FReepers keep saying she has high unfavorables! She’s not even announced she’s running and she ties Barry in a poll.
A pleasant evening to you as well.
I’ve worked on several presidential campaigns, in Des Moines, Iowa. But go ahead and lecture me on the subject.
Did Grunthor really say that? someone pinch me
>> Patriotism rings in the Palin camp.<<
Or fanaticism and personality worship. Some of all 3.
As I said, it is clear to anyone reading ANY of these which is which.
I think meaningful in the sense that it just shows how fickle they are. The point is that polls in Sep 2011 say nothing about what will happen in Nov 2012. No one knows what will happen then.
Maybe unemployment will be down around 7% and Obama will win 49 states like Reagan did. Maybe it’ll be around 10% and he’ll lose 44 states like Carter did. Who knows? Maybe there will be some huge attack or major war or something. Maybe there’ll be a dem challenger.
Part of me wonders if this poll wasn’t a message to Obama and the dems to wake up. It’s one thing for him to be close to Romney or something. But if polls start showing him close to or even god forbid losing to her...watch out. Maybe they think this is the only way to get his attention.
So they make up some result like this and it gets coverage and that lets folks on the dem side say “Look, it’s getting so bad even Palin is competitive and running against her is basically akin to running against a potted plant.”
Maybe Obama needs a new book about him saying how he had a one night stand with Nancy Lieberman back in the 80s to come out.
I saw her on TV less than 45 minutes ago and she had nothing negative to say about Perry at all, and the crony capitalism she talked about tonight was Obama/Solyndra.
Palin was on Hannity today and praised Perry. She said Perry is right. Go watch the Hannity rerun.
Yes, and then I seconded his opinion, but then this thread turned into a bash anyone who has defended smears against Perry tread.
Yeah, and last week, she said he was a crony capitalist. Way to cherry pick comments! Damn, you’re so inadvertently hilarious.
Backing away from her Gardasil/Crony Capitalism remarks is she?
And???? What does that mean? Nothing. Has she retracted what she said about Perry? No.
Who is YOUR candidate of choice?
>>> Read the article! ROTFLMAO!!
As a matter of fact, I did. And as I indicated Palin remain flatly rejected by Republicans.
“” By 72 percent to 24 percent, Republicans and Republican-leaning independents do not want Palin to run for president in 2012. Even among tea party supporters - a group that likes Palin - 68 percent do not want her to run.
And by 58 percent to 32 percent, Republican voters do not want Giuliani, who ran and lost in 2008, to run in 2012.””
So more reject her then even bogeyman super-RINO Giuliani. This story simply shows people saying Obama is so bad if push came to shove they’d even vote for Sarah Palin to get rid of him. Again, she is simply substituted here for GENERIC REPUBLICAN.
How that warrants a ROTFLMAO!! by you I really don’t follow. Unless you simply didn’t read your own article past the part that you thought sounded good for Palin.
