The settlement agreement between the National Restaurant Association and a woman who accused Herman Cain of sexual harassment was reached in September 1999--and was not signed by Cain himself, according to Joel Bennett, a lawyer for the woman.
Bennett, who has a copy of the settlement agreement, said four people signed it: the woman, two lawyers representing the association and Bennett himself.
Bennett said the agreement was resolved relatively quickly, about two or three months after she complained.

You are entirely right. $35,000 to go away. The attorney fees for any length of discovery in this case would have easily been $100,000. The firms I worked in for 15 years, were normally always ready to just settle cases to make them go away and save the client the money, time, efforts, lost time at work, etc. for all the garbage. If she took $35,000, this case was JUNK AND GARBAGE from the git go.

Deace had a hissy fit.
:)
Actually, the NRA holds all the cards. No one can say anything about the details of the settlement without their release.
Darling and asked her to put lemon and sugar in his tea.”
I hope she jumped right to it so he didn’t have to tell her twice.
Hear hear!
There's not a single candidate that I'm willing to hurt a friend for. It's early in the game, and I don't like the way it's being played here on FR. I don't like the open hostility.
That part of your post just nedded repeating...so I repeated it!
I completely agree re: threat of lawsuits. I was discussing this here yesterday. IMO PJ Media should also be threatened if they weren’t already - they made some VERY significant changes to their “article” after it was published which leads me to believe they KNEW it was a BS article, and didn’t care if it was accurate at all, got called on it, and tried to cover their butts.
This is all so incredibly sickening. Is there a way to get this lawyer in some kind of trouble as well? His own client told him to shut up about it. Also, they should definitely find out WHO the original source was and I think the alleged victim would possibly have a case against all of these people as well - even if they still haven’t published her name.
The original source is a total scumbag who has no regard for anything or anyone other than whomever they were trying to help politically. As pointed out by another poster yesterday, she is still a PRIVATE CITIZEN and her rights were totally ignored. I feel sorry for her for that reason only (I make no judgement on her complaint as we still have no clue as to what allegedly happened). The mental and emotional stress brought upon her through no action of her own has to be incredible.
Are we sure it’s not this lawyer himself who “leaked” the story - perhaps for his 15 mins. of fame? In view of his statements and actions I definitely wouldn’t put it past him.
Anyway, that’s my $.02 cents. Everyone involved in promoting this “non-scandal” are the scum of the Earth, IMHO.
I'm so glad that at least one person sees it the way I do! People are so vested in one candidate that they are willing to rip to shreds anyone who voices any support of anyone else.
We are SO early in the game, with so much ground ahead of us and so many things that can happen, that we have to be at least decent to each other in this process.
The ultimate goal has GOT to be to get rid of that evil Marxist pretender, Barack Hussein Obama, and we'll never get that done if we tear each other apart before the contest even begins.
Every single one of our candidates (well..... very marginally, Ron Paul ;) is far superior to Barack Obama. And if we get another four years of him, we may not have enough country to salvage and rebuild this once great Republic.
This "Cain is evil" "Perry is evil" garbage has to stop.
I think they know in their bones that they are wrong...but they are still cornered animals and must be treated as such.
That said, their attempt to destroy Cain is SOP for Obama. Until he ran against McCain, he always won by destroying his opponent before the election.
I think people forget that we're all supposed to be on the same side here. This is one of the most important elections in history, and we'd better keep our eyes on the prize or we're all going to sink.
Deace had a hissy fit.Steve Deace is an admitted reformed porn addict who recently lost nearly a hundred pounds of couch/computer fat.
He was Huckabee's big voice in Iowa in 2008.
He is arguably the actual Church Lady whom Dana Carvey only plays.
Wonder what happened to the one that woke up in his bed i mean she woke up. ha ha
Indeed. I've posted similar thoughts on other threads but it doesn't look like it has sunk in around here yet.
I'm sure after the primaries it will change and then we can focus on the real enemy and remove him from the WH....if anyone is still speaking to each other lol!
Okay, maybe that was out of line. Sorry.
BTW I still defend President Bush when ... all too often ... I see him dissed here, often in connection with people trashing Perry and lumping them together as two dumb Texans.
But, believe me, ‘your idol’ is mild compared to some of the stuff posted.
Sorry, but I thought of the phrase ‘being in bed’ before I realized how it would sound.
But then I couldn’t resist using it anyway cause it was funny.
I am a very bad girl.
Every post I’ve made has included my assertion that I did not believe Cain was guilty of the scandal.
All I’ve ever criticized is his handling of it and his accusing others, while objecting to being accused himself.
As to who I support, it’s no secret. It’s right there in my tag line.
By the way, I’ve always said that I will vote for Cain if he is the nominee.
You might be amazed at how many people assert that they will not vote for Perry.
I’ve explained that there are 4 ways to vote for Obama:
1. Vote for Obama
2. Write in a candidate
3. Vote 3rd party
4. Don’t vote
But they still maintain their stance.
I will not dance to the polls if Cain gets the nomination but I will go to the polls and vote for him
Some day when I have time to waste, I’m gonna collect the posts that have been made on Perry threads and post them.
Then everybody will see what really mean people are capable of.
Did anyone tell Michael Medved this, after he spent yesterday railing taht of course Cain had to sign it?
Michael is still spending today going on about how Herman “handled” the controversey, even if he was innocent.
Commonly, SHE had to sign a release to get the money. In order to bind Herman or the company to any limitations, her lawyer would have had to make a point of it. Unlikely that he did. The only person violating anything were this woman and her lawyer, “anonymously”.
Ha Ha. So Cain even had the integrity not to sign the bogus agreement. That merits another donstion tomorrow.
This is really getting rich and it’s all upside with Cain. The RINO-Marxist cabal is totally shot in the ass.
We have a black man who will not act like he’s supposed to. And they claim he’s an Uncle Tom. Sheesh.
I’m in with Cain.
As we both know, there is a group who hang around here who aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer. They continue to prove it with posts like that.
I actually have seen some of the stuff posted. I've seen it against Perry, against Cain, against Bachmann, against Palin, and I don't like any of it. (Well, I'll have to admit to having been greatly amused by someone's calling Ron Paul's working with Barney Frank on legalizing drugs as "Fruit and Nuts" ;*) I don't actually think of Paul as a real candidate, nor as a conservative.
But as I said, the at-each-others-throats mentality of people I know to be GOOD people is not going to get us anywhere. It's so easy to get wrapped up in the zeitgeist of attack, attack, attack, and forget that the vast majority of freepers are fellow conservatives who want the same things.
There are a handful that only want to divide (some of whom I believe are agents of the left), but the vast majority are not those nasty trouble makers (that you and I both dealt with ad nauseum).
I'd like to publicly apologize for even bringing this subject up on the public forum. I should have addressed it first privately. Please forgive me.
