Jim Robinson: Taking stock of our dwindling conservative inventory
Jan 5, 2011 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 01/05/2012 11:23:02 AM PST by Jim Robinson

Tea party favorite and pro-life conservative Sarah Palin and her family were viciously attacked to the point she chose not to run.

Congressional Tea Party Caucus leader and constitutional pro-life conservative Michele Bachmann had early promise, but I guess came across as too "shrill" and consequently her numbers driven down to the point she exited.

Successful pro-life conservative Texas Governor Perry hit the race at the top but due to missteps and less than stellar debate performances soon fizzled and is now all but gone.

Pro-life conservative businessman Cain and his famous 9-9-9 plan had promise, but was driven out due to indefensible allegations.

Pro-life Reagan Revolution conservative Newt Gingrich reinvigorated his campaign and soared to the top of the national polls, but was unacceptable to the establishment and apparently also unacceptable to the "true conservatives" among us and his numbers are now plummeting

You'd think "unquestionably" pro-life, pro-family conservative Rick Santorum whose recent surge took him to a tie in Iowa and who's now surging in the national polls might be good enough to stand against Romney for the base, but looks like there are "true conservatives" now attacking HIM as not good enough.

Well, drive them all out and who's left?

Huntsman? Who? Moonbat Paul?

Ideas anyone? Should we all continue attacking the conservatives we don't like until we drive them all out?

Personally, I could easily have lived with Palin, Bachmann, Cain, Perry, Newt or Santorum and would be proud to enthusiastically support any of them, warts and all. Any one of them is infinitely better than Obama or Romney.

But if we don't land on one soon and raise him up over Romney, guess who we're going to be stuck with? And it ain't going to be pretty. And if abortionist/statist/progressive Romney (or moonbat Paul) is the one, might as well get used to four more years of Obama. I won't vote for or support either one of those two.

I'd suggest that we all stop trying to tear down the other conservative candidates in the race and instead concentrate on trying to build up our own personal favorites. Who knows? May even discover an acceptable conservative (if not a great conservative) in the bunch. We've never had a perfect conservative yet. Not even the magnificent Ronald Reagan. We and they all have warts.

But we do want to have a candidate with at least an actual CONSERVATIVE record and not an out and out liberal progressive RINO. So let's compare their records and their actual conservative accomplishments but not try to destroy them personally.

God bless and may the best CONSERVATIVE be our nominee.

How fickle. I never gave up on Sarah,

How stupid! It was obvious to rational people that she wasn't going to run for POTUS long before she announced she wasn't.

If you think it's "fickle" to accept reality, so be it! LOL!

I enthusiastically support any of those three (or any combination). Heck, I might even go along with the milquetoast Huntsman if it comes down to that.

I would like supporters of Santorum, Perry, and Gingrich to focus on stopping Romney from getting the nomination.

Thanks so much for the insightful posting of the truth about Grant!

“Here then is a humble and modest man who had but one goal, that of saving the Union. And he accomplished this goal! The debt owned him by this country can never be repaid, except by everlasting honor and respect. That respect can be bestowed by eliminating the “drinking comments” from conversation about Ulysses S. Grant and by eradicating that image from the American consciousness. Grant deserves nothing less. Through the technological marvel of the Internet the U.S. Grant Network is working ceaselessly toward achieving that goal!”

Don't be an ass.

I chose to stand by for Sarah until she announced her intentions. When she did, I began looking for a candidate I could support, and I have.

You obviously chose differently, which I think was fickle for a supporter, but I won't denigrate you for making that choice.

It’s hard for me to see anyone who blasts Santorum now as a sincere conservative. All the other conservatives and arguable conservatives in the race have hit their peak and fallen, and everyone knows that a cake doesn’t rise twice.

And we can be sure of this: any self-styled “conservative” who criticizes Santorum, Gingrich, or whomever now for not being conservative enough, and supports Romney later, is a phony and a liberal mole.

I’m sticking with Gingrich to the end. He’s the only one with the political experience, the longevity, and knowledge of the system to route out, and squash all the Leftist bug larvae infesting the corpse that is what’s left of our government today.

Yep...me too.

Hmmmm, perhaps I need to replace Grant in that graphic with another worthy but flawed gentleman. Any ideas?

I’m convinced that Newt Gingrich is the junkyard dog we need to rip Obama a new one and send him running back to his Chicago cesspool with his tail between his legs......Junkyard dogs are not show dogs, but they’ll save your bacon.

Yep...and the rest of your post was great too...I completely agree and Newt will remain my number one.

Then here’s another change for Newt. I attended the Gingrich/Cain debate in Houston as one of the invited bloggers and was present when Gingrich was asked about his plan for border security. He didn’t tell us that he’d put a fence along the 1200 mile Rio Grande border, but he did talk about his guest worker program.

The ROE under Perry would not increase the danger to BP and NG. We know this because (Perry is not Bush and) we see the ROE for the DPS and Texas Rangers that the Governor has sent to augment the failing efforts of the DHS.

>>>GingrichSantorumPerry<<<

I want to see these three tag-team PaulRomney and take so many states and deligates to the convention that R&P are too embarassed to show up. Then Perry can go back to Texas where he is most needed and a Santorum/Gingrich ticket destroy the democrats in a landslide.

I pray that God will bring all three to make the same pledge the signers of the constitution made. Anything less and the result will be the total destruction of the rights and freedoms that the inspired constitution was created to insure.

I read from Psalms each day and see so many that are an imprecation to God to intervene in the affairs of men and protect us from evil. I implore all others to do the same.

The GOP establishment will do everything in their power to crush all conservative challengers to their annointed pick. Romney is their pick and they will crush everyone else, just as they crushed Cain and Bachmann.

It remains to be seen if the registered Republican voters are stupid enough to let them crush Santorum as well. In my opinion, yes the voters are amply stupid to be manipulated by the GOP leadership to crush Santorum.

They will do whatever they have to do to get their guy Romney in power.

I could vote for both Paul and Mitt against Obama.

Paul may do a lot of very bad things but he will also do a lot of very good things that quite possibly wont happen with any other man now running. I am therefore willing to accept the bad with the good at least for 4 years.

As for Mitt like it or not he is not running to govern Mass. If that was not enough to convince you know that his tenuous hold on conservatives should help to keep him walking the line.

He probably wont accomplish as much as Newt, perry and certainly not as much as Paul, but hes better than Obama and he might at least provide a political platform for conservative States to push the line.

Relax guys we can work with any of the guys running. Each of them simply requires a different strategy on our part.

(PS if your worried about Federal Judge ships know this, no man appointed by any Federal executive and approved by any federal senate is going to be likely to cut down the hand that fed and continues to feed them. The self-serving corruption of the Federal “courts” is a product its nature & position as a part of the Federal Goverment choice and empowered by the same. The Federal court thus can’t help but be as corrupt as the same Goverment is powerful.)

“The ROE under Perry would not increase the danger to BP and NG. We know this because (Perry is not Bush and) we see the ROE for the DPS and Texas Rangers that the Governor has sent to augment the failing efforts of the DHS.”

Lets see. Thousands of unarmed or “armed with beanbag” human targets parading back and forth along the border like ducks in a carnival shooting gallery...who the democrats will not allow to engage the enemy, nor defend themselves against are a safe idea. Hmmm. Going to have to think on....Nope. You are wrong.

Perry and ANY OTHER president without a fence will face the very same problem Bush did from screaming democrats, the media, LaRaza and every victim group screaming that poor innocent 2 year old children will be shot dead by gun crazed American BP and soldiers.

You want to needlessly put more AMERICANS in harms way? You just go ahead and try to sell that idea. I do not blame Perry in this insanity. But his position is dead wrong. I blame Democrats and opponents of the fence.

Really? You can’t think of 3 ways Romney is better than Obama?

#1

I’m not aware that Romney has surrounded himself with avowed communists. Maybe he has and I’m open to correction on that issue. Obama is surrounded by hard communists who want to turn America into Italy on its way to Vietnam.

#2

Obama is a Muslim who bowed to the Saudi King and has assisted the consolidation of power of fundamentalist Islam in Egypt, Lybia and Tunisia, and he is trying in Syria and Yemen. Really, Do you really think Mormon Romney would promote the spread of radical fundamentalist Islam abroad?

#3

Obama has limitless funds for destruction from George Soros. Romney has no such benefactor.

#4 Obama has an army of support from ACORN and SEIU to engage in widespread voter fraud. Romney has no such army of support.

#5

Obama has a complicit media to cover up his scandals and
damaging policies. A president Romney would be held in check by a left-wing socialist media.

#6 Romney, to my knowledge, never ran guns to the Mexican cartels in a manipulation ploy to pass gun control laws.

#7 Romney hasn’t tried to destroy the US coal industry.

#8 Romney did not nationalize banks and car companies in Massachusetts.

More than any single reason why WE MUST DEFEAT OBAMA is to repeal Obamacare. Obamacare kicks in right after the election and 4 years later will see it entrenched with no hope of ever repealing it. Romney would not lead the fight to overturn Obamacare, but he could be dragged kicking and screaming to “compromise” and repeal it by a determined House and Senate that sends him a repeal and dares him to veto it.

REPEALING OBAMACARE IS THE ONLY GOAL.

REPEALING OBAMACARE IS THE ONLY GOAL.

REPEALING OBAMACARE IS THE ONLY GOAL.

REPEALING OBAMACARE IS THE ONLY GOAL.

REPEALING OBAMACARE IS THE ONLY GOAL.

REPEALING OBAMACARE IS THE ONLY GOAL.

Sure, there is too much similarity. Much too much. Both are pro-abortion, pro-gay, and pro-socialized medicine. I don’t want Romney, but at worst he would be more like Baby Bush selling out to big business than he would be like Obama, fundamentally transforming our national system of government from a Republic to hard socialism.

Romney is a liberal Republican who is no ally of ours, but if you can’t see the inherent danger that Obama poses to America over every Republican candidate running, I think you are wilfully blind to it.
