Newt Gingrich blasts CNN for opening the debate with a question about "open marriage," a topic discussed by his ex-wife Marianne Gingrich in an interview with ABC news.

Gingrich responded sharply saying, "I am astounded that CNN would use it to open a presidential debate."

Gingrich proceeded to attack the media for being biased against Republican candidates. "I am tired of the elite media of protecting Barack Obama," he said. "They would like to attack any Republican."

The audience responded with a standing ovation.

Like when Reagan got that unexpected landslide. Nobody in the liberal media could figure out who voted for Reagan.

Newt hasn’t had the opportunity to really knock much out of the park this time other than the opening. I admire him for being able to make his way through this debate today. This Marianne thing must have really been a head shot to his preparedness. It had to be hard on him. I hope it doesn’t come out that his “this is false” doesn’t come back to bite him in the butt. Want him to win very badly. I know what the msm will do to him. They won’t let it go. This will hound him. Thoughts?

King’s wife is a divorcee. What are the details?

Obama is way beyond reproch. Even if, per say, it came out that Obama had pimping in his past it would be a non-story.

Newt knocked King’s head off.

I'm reminded of Luca Brasi's line to Don Corleone in the first of the The Godfather series: "...may their first child be a masculine child."

Soon-to-be President Newt Gingrich exudes a hale and hearty he-man image. He's obviously heterosexual and women adore him. Plus he's unafraid of the lamestream media. The contrast between Gingrich's look-you-in-the-eye courage compared to the limp-wristed, effeminate John King of CNN is stark indeed.

Newt is on his game.

An old politico, been thru every power move, scandal, potential scandal, damage control, cover move, etc.

Sharpened by the knife-on-knife action. Had some years out of the limelight and office to regroup and reflect.

He’s now an old lion, much like Churchill, back in the game with the experience and wisdom that comes only from trench warfare, but with the redeeming grace that comes from finally (we all fervently hope!) of rising above it, lessons learned.

He has a short time to redeem himself- he seems to understand that now and has found himself and his calling and is meeting it.

That can resonate!

Yep, he’s a man’s man - not afraid to take a chance or make a mistake, but not afraid of doing something real big and important.

Gawd!!! He stomped that guy into the dust!

Ya know... I could really get used to the idea of a fighter like him as President... It took some doing, but I think the chicken bone is past the throat and will digest nicely!

It’s not Reagan... but it’s similar. He says things in ways that people can understand. Or, at least he dang sure did this time!

OK, I’m in.

“The commies at CNN don’t seem to have a problem with Slick Willie’s “open marriage”. What’s up with that?”

And who, pray tell is Larry Sinclair????

You are right. Guess I’m not so much worried about Newt the man. More worried about Newt the candidate and the only man I feel capable of leading our country back from the path it has been on for 3 years.

Taking shots at Newt is like taking shots at Clint Eastwood’s “Dirty Harry” character.

"Unfortunately, too many moderates and liberals don’t even understand the liberal media bias issue, probably because they’re CNN and MSNBC viewers. "

This lack of "understanding" is not the failed product of deeply concerned sincerely earnest conscientious thinkers. Those who do not "understand" have no desire to understand.

It has to happen — by the general campaign time, this won’t be on the table any longer, and any attempt by Zero/Soros’ smear machine to use it will fail, or not occur at all. Thanks tobyhill.

Difference between Newt and Romney:

Newt makes a mistake and no one loses a job.

Romney makes a mistake and 1,000’s lose a job (Bain).
