Romney Advisor: Putting the boot on the neck of Gingrich. Aiming to destroy Gingrich in FL for good.
Buzz Feed ^

Posted on 01/29/2012 12:30:25 PM PST by Windy City Conservative

After Gingrich Newt scored a surprise blow-out victory in South Carolina last week, the former Massachusetts governor not only unleashed a political broadside of epic proportions.

"It not about winning here anymore," one Romney staffer told BuzzFeed. "It's about destroying Gingrich — and it's working."

After two standout debate performances that put him up 9 points in recent polls, Romney is keeping the pressure on Gingrich, looking to score a blow-out victory of his own here.

To that end, Romney has rolled out a team of surrogates in the Sunshine State to take the fight to Gingrich in person: from Connie Mack (III) and Connie Mack (IV), to Rep. Jason Chaffetz and Sen. John McCain. Romney has also aired a controversial ad featuring Tom Brokaw announcing that Gingrich had been sanctioned by the House.

Today both Macks took the stage before Romney to attack Gingrich's character, proclaiming that he has a “checkered past with ethics and honesty."

Romney also launched into his longest attack directed squarely at Gingrich, devoting almost four minutes of his 18 minute stump speech attacking the former Speaker of the House.

"Mr. Speaker, your trouble in Florida is not because the audience is too quiet or too loud or because you have opponents that are tough," Romney said, comparing Gingrich's complaints about debate audiences to Goldilocks. Then, with a broad smile on his face, he listed the reasons why Florida voters are now moving away from Gingrich's campaign.

"Your problem in Florida is that you worked for Freddie Mac at a time when Freddie Mac was not doing the right thing for the American people," he added.

Shortly after Romney's remarks, his campaign emailed "Earth to Newt: Tell The Truth" detailing a long list of alleged lies while mocking his ambitious space agenda.

A lot has chaned since then. This past year or so everyone whose driver’s licenses came due had to bring their old license, a birth certificate [not a copy], a SS card, an IRS 1099 and payment book or credit statement with their residence and name on it to get their driver’s license renewed and they have to present the new license to vote. Might not catch every idiot but it’s bound to have culled some of them and you can bet it made the Democrat Party do some work for a change to try to hang onto as many multi-voters as they could. the not so good thin is that a lot of people’s licenses haven’t come up for renewal yet since we only renew every so many years.

I completely agree.

BTW, and on a different subject entirely, I read a post of yours saying that you have a new family member (a cat). Congrats!

I have 4 cats (my fifth passed away recently)--all strays--they were toms until that old visit to the vet (snip, snip).

Nothing like a cat, or 4.

Mormons creed... unlike any other in the United States,... from its inception Mormonism encouraged material prosperity and abundance as a measure of holy worth, and its strict system of tithing 10 percent of individual wealth has made the church one of the world’s richest institutions.

A multibillion-dollar business empire that includes agribusiness, mining, insurance, electronic and print media, manufacturing, movie production, commercial real estate, defense contracting, retail stores and banking, the Mormon church has unprecedented economic and political power.

Despite a solemn stricture against any act or tolerance of gambling, Mormons have been heavily invested and exceptionally influential in the Nevada gaming industry since the great expansion of modern Las Vegas in the 1950s

From the salon article.....though I hate going there....they are correct in what they wrote.

Not to mention the Democrats supporting Romney in every way behind the scene

Yes, wouldn't surprise me at all. Perhaps financially as well. Many of us have long suspected witnessed the mediarats giving Romney favorable treatment, and like them the democrats in general must know that Obama is very vulnerable and so figure if he loses, then may as well lose to Romney rather than someone who might actually change our current heading to any significant degree.

Did you sign up today just to lecture us? Well, shove it.

Why is Romney destroying Newt? Why doesn’t he debate him on the issues? I’ll tell you why. Romney knows he has NO CHANCE to win the Republican primary on his liberal, statist record. Romney should be running as a Democrat not a Republican. So in order to hide from his left-wing record, he instead launches vicious smear campaigns against any conservative who is a threat to his coronation. Romney is a lying snake, and he will never get my vote. He has a lot of nerve smearing Newt as anti-Reagan, when he himself disavowed Reagan! He must think we are all stupid! If we must have a lying, left-wing, statist puke as President, let him have D after his name not an R.

Is that clear enough? Btw, are you one of those morons Romney bussed in for the debate to cheer when he lectured us that Romneycare “Is nothing to get angry about?”

Politics just doesn’t work like that, especially in a presidential campaign. You’re either all in or you withdraw.

You can’t ask your supporters (especially those who’ve actually spent weeks ‘on the ground’ campaigning for you) to switch to another candidate in just one state and expect anyone to support you in the other states.

The embarassing negative ads have been the worst thing for the Republican party as a whole and it is entirely possible that they have finally succeeded not in promoting their candidates, for no effort has been made to promote conservatism or any of its ideas in the ad campaigns, but in giving Obama something he could not do before all this started: the ability to beat an anonymous dogcatcher. The ads- which for all practical purposes look as if they were created by a bunch of catfighting venomous lesbians left over from the Hillary campaign, have unfortunately made Obama look like the only adult in the room.

"Your problem in Florida is that you worked for Freddie Mac at a time when Freddie Mac was not doing the right thing for the American people," he added.

Romney directly contributed to the bad assets on Freddie's books with his aggressive affordable housing push as Governor of MA.

I don’t mean to sound dumb or argumentative...but will they (Repub-e) really get the message if Romney loses the General by 20? I guess I’m just thinking back to Dole and McCain. Doesn’t seem like the lessons have ‘stuck’.

sigh

IMO, the establishment will never “get it,” whether they lose by 20 points or 50 points. The only thing they get is being voted out of office if they presently hold office.

Although I’m not in Charlie Bass’ district, I would love to vote that RINO out for his shameful appearances at Newt’s campaign stops to spin for Willard.

Its simple. Romney gets the nomination from the RINO party, they have lost me. I am sick of them. I guess I go independent and just vote my local tickets. I am sick and tired of liberals and the media selecting the RINO candidate and fools voting for them thinking the RINO level of socialism is better than the dimocrat communist one.

Florida is FAR more important to Romney than it is to Gingrich.

You are right.

Romney is acting like a cornered RAT, which he is.

If he doesn't win here, he will need to try to run on the Democrat ticket. Maybe he can get Obama to replace him for Biden.
