The probable inevitability of such is an aside. Nobody wants to be the one to go into the history books as the one who was the pebble that started the avalanche.

The inverted and clipped 08 hasn’t been debunked.
Everything coming out of that POST OFFICE had 1980 without clipping the top edge and dropping the 19.
Regardless the outcome of this travesty, congrats and big kudos for your efforts and tenacity, D !
I just can't go along with this statement.I remember our postmaster had to inventory the number of date stamps at our office, requisition that number of new stamps and upon receipt of the new stamps, had to return the old stamps the day after new stamps became effective. To state that the old stamps were still being used years later seems unlikely, even at a very small office as they received the same directives as every other office.
Likely, this form never originated at any Post Office. Instead, the forger obtained an old date stamper by whatever means and committed the forgery.
I know, many people think we are manufacturing theories and grasping at straws, but can any one compare this postmark with others and think it is genuine?
BTTT. This is exactly correct.
if you look at this video, you can see 5 1980 postmarked ss forms...all have uspo on the stamp....2 are from the sam post office-makiki station honolulu all have 4 digit year stamps...

yes the 80 was discussed at length on fr back in 2008 and has not been debunked ...imo its clearly a forgery

Thanks, upcountry miss. Interesting and informative. .
OK, I stand corrected. I was visualising something like the usual 'settable' date stamp.
More of us consumers reading this are familiar with the "settable" date stamp that can be bought from most office supply and stationery stores: such a stamp has a series of dates and years mounted on rubber bands that can be turned by wheels to the desired setting.

"12 years are included on the date band." (The ones I've seen have full four-digit years, not 20xx where xx is something that can be selected on a wheel.)

Good detective work.
this is interesting.
There was no draft registration in 1979.
On March 29, 1975, President Ford signed Proclamation 4360, Terminating Registration Procedures Under Military Selective Service Act, eliminating the registration requirement for all 1825 year old male citizens.[12]
On July 2, 1980, however, President Carter signed Proclamation 4771, Registration Under the Military Selective Service Act, retroactively re-establishing the Selective Service registration requirement for all 1826 year old male citizens born on or after January 1, 1960
OK so I did get this from wiki
IOW they are unprincipled self-serving cowards.

Arpaio says he has found someone to agree to investigate the postal stamp forgery and I suspect it is one of two postal inspector groups...
Y’all pushing donations to the Democrats now?
http://blog.windowbook.com/2009/11/24/the-final-goodbye-to-the-red-round-stamp/ ~ the USPS round date stamp was discontinued in 2009/2010. You might want to review what postal technology was being used at the time this particular round stamp device was current. I’ve seen millions of them ~ literally ~ and doing audits on mailings I simply disregarded their presence. There was no evidentiary value that’d attract a court’s notice. After all, the device wasn’t controlled and secure. Having a different date from the written material really doesn’t mean anything. LIES were usually surfaced through arithmetic errors.
Are you trying to tell us that the post office couldnt hand cancel certified mail or hand cancel regular mail with their round date stamp since 2010? Oh my what to do with all my subsequent certified receipts with hand cancelled round red date stamps???
Date of mailing via postmark is accepted by most courts for legal purposes if the letter is received within 5 days(first class) of the postmark.
If it was not valid, why did they do it?
