Mormon Bishop Mitt Romney’s Anti-Christian Religion

Many naive Americans believe that Mormonism is merely another branch of protestant Christianity. Well that’s not what the founders and leaders of Mormonism believed.

According to its founder, Joseph Smith, and Brigham Young, Smith’s successor, Mormons are the only true people of God on the earth. All non-Mormons and their religions are “wrong, an abomination, blind, damned, of the devil, whores, not Christians, groveling in darkness, heathens, ignorant, devoid of fact, pagan and hatched in Hell.”

When Romney made a speech about his religion in 2008 he refused to distance himself from his faith and fully affirmed his Mormonism. Responding to critics, Romney said,

"They would prefer it if I would simply distance myself from my religion, say that it is more a tradition than my personal conviction, or disavow one or another of its precepts. That I will not do. I believe in my Mormon faith and I endeavor to live by it. My faith is the faith of my fathers - I will be true to them and to my beliefs."

Romney, the father of homosexual marriage in America and abortion funding Romney Care in Massachusetts, flip-flops on virtually every issue, but he is adamant about his anti-Christian Mormonism. Romney needs the vote of Christians to win election, but he refuses to “disavow one or another of its precepts.”

Nor can anyone think Romney is merely a casual or cultural Mormon who just happened to be born Mormon. He is an active Bishop in the Mormon church hierarchy. He cannot pretend to be ignorant of the teaching of Joseph Smith and the other “prophets” of Mormonism.

Below is a list of quotes from Mormon leaders and official publications starting with Joseph Smith down to our day. The message is consistent and clear.

I am permitted and commanded to judge everything against God's Word, to call out false prophets and teachings. I can not judge a person's heart, that alone belongs to God.
mormonism is false, Joseph Smith is/was a false prophet.

Yet, betty boop has made statements that Mormons are Christians and attacked us - basicially accusing us of attacking Chrisitans (Mormons), while at the same time saying she didn’t fight Christians.

She also dodged a simple question about her views. It is a very reasonable conclusion that Betty is in error and considers Mormons to be Christians. Perhaps you can get through to her.

After we've loved 'em, and raked their grass and praised their nice children, noted their empty jails and applauded their conservatism; just WHAT are we to DO about the HERESY they believe in?

Dear sister in Christ, if you are truly concerned about a conversion of hearts to save these people or any other people from HERESY (i.e., by means of evangelization), then I think that stridency, shrillness, and name-calling is a really bad strategy. It's totally off-putting and counterproductive, IMHO.

Why are you and seemingly many others on this thread so abusive of folks who are outside your sect? (Seemingly including myself.) It simply makes me cringe. At the very least, it's bad advertising of the Christian message.

If this sort of behavior is seen as the model of what a Christian is, who would want to be one?

Just my two-cents' worth. FWIW

I suspect you might have inferred what she believes.

Bottom line, Mormons are our neighbors. We are to love our neighbors. And Jesus made it abundantly clear that "neighbor" also means people who do not believe as we do.

And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

[Parable of the Good Samaritan] Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise. - Luke 10:25-32

God's Name is I AM.

I know of no other way to respond to the question asked. The term "Christian" is Scriptural, the words of God make the point that the disciples were first called Christian at Antioch. The word "Christian" is therefore not a mere dictionary word to be appropriated to mean something new like the word "gay" has been.

You seem to see in me only what you're looking for.... fitting me into some kind of template, so you can then beat me with a stick (apparently).

For the record, I define "Christian" as someone who believes in the Trinitarian God: One Eternal God in three Persons — Father, Son, and Holy Ghost — of One single indivisible divine Substance. In short, I hold to the Athanasian Creed.

I do not believe that God was once a man; I do not believe that a man can ever become a god.

God and man are two entirely different orders of Being and I do not believe that they can ever converge. Actually, God alone is Being: Man was created in His Image, and his existence is a participation in God's Being.

God's Name is I AM THAT AM: That is, pure sui generis eternal Being.

This is my belief....

Indeed, dearest sister in Christ — that is my understanding as well.

Thank you so very much for writing!

P.S.:

And thank you so very much, dearest sister, for posting the two Great Commandments:

Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

Actually, as you have pointed out in your wonderful book, there is really only One Great Commandment, the First above ("Love God with all thy heart...."); the second, "Love thy neighbor as thyself" is a corollary of the First.

This is what God commands us to do. I think we should do it. This is what defines a Christian.

Mormons are not a sect of Christianity, they are an anti-Christian cult.

And confrontation and ‘shrillness’ is what got me and many other Mormons to see the light and leave Mormonism for Jesus.

I agree it doesn’t often work for other groups, but it is the most effective at getting Mormons to see the lies of Mormonism.

Which is why I kept asking her the question point blank. A question she dodged and did not answer directly.

I DO love Mormons, I love them enough to challenge their beliefs and make them think.

When I was trapped in Mormonism, my ‘christian’ friends who thought they could just be nice and kind and not challenge me and just ‘love me to the Lord’ I liked, but I did not respect their beliefs (I saw them as weak in their faith) and I certainly did not listen to them.

It was the people who made me mad, mad enough to prove them wrong, that got through to me and most other ex-Mormons who have become Christians say the same thing.

Only after they realize that Mormonism is a lie can we begin to love them to the Lord - an that is exactly what we do, even here on Freep.
