Illegal alien workers getting tax deductions for kids living in Mexico

Illegal aliens working in the United States are technically required to fill out a tax return and pay their income taxes. We all laugh about claiming a additional deduction here or there for some neighborhood kid who eats the food out of your fridge and hangs out at your house all the time, but many of these workers are claiming deductions for children living in Mexico.

Each spring, at tax preparation offices all across the nation, many illegal immigrants are now eagerly filing tax returns to take advantage of a tax loophole, using their ITIN numbers to get huge refunds from the IRS.

The loophole is called the Additional Child Tax Credit. It’s a fully-refundable credit of up to $1000 per child, and it’s meant to help working families who have children living at home.

But many undocumented workers are claiming the tax credit for kids who live in Mexico – lots of kids in Mexico.

“We’ve seen sometimes 10 or 12 dependents, most times nieces and nephews, on these tax forms,” the whistleblower said. “The more you put on there, the more you get back.”

“The magnitude of the problem has grown exponentially,” said Russell George, the United States Department of Treasury’s Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA).

And he says the IRS has known about the problem for years.

I don’t understand this. When I was in grad school, the international students told me they were not allowed to claim any dependents at all because they were not citizens. Some of them had kids.

it’s not a loophole.

There are no “escape clauses” or “loopholes” in the tax code that were not intentionally written into it.

It is just another intentional way to channel taxpayer money to a protected minority.

Can you say “social justice”?

Or “wealth redistribution”?

Hmmmmmmm

Pay them a $1,000 bucks and they leave the kid in Mexico?

Sounds like a pretty good deal.

(Any idea what they cost us in health care when they get to this side of the boarder?)

““The magnitude of the problem has grown exponentially,”

There’s an understatement.

And do you think our elected representatives in Washington do not know about this? Just another reason/cause why these false representatives all need to be removed from office if there is any at all indication they could have/should have stopped such a robbery.

Most of us common folk see the outright absurdity of this IRS corruption in a USA that is deep in debt and with vast unemployment.

We don’t need more incentives for immigration now - illegal or otherwise. Why are we giving them tax handouts? But you might forget our country isn’t run by common sense and common folk. It is run by connected people with interests and incentives. That is the core of our real problems.

The big supporters of both Parties thrive on this stuff. They make money off of it. The H&R Blocks tax preparers make big money charging loan shark interest rates to give these people cash anticipation loans even if they are fraudulent. The US Chamber of Commerce never saw an immigrant that it didn’t want a million times more to soften labor rates. The churches see immigrants as money in the collection plate and more members. The Democrat party leaders see boundless immigrants as more votes even though their legal unemployed constituents get hammered.

We need to flush this entire government and both Parties down the toilet until they start seeing common sense instead of dollar signs from special interests.

I was being cynical. The IRS has known about this for years, yet the problem continues to grow. Obviously, little is being done about it so, yes, we are so “generous”.
