By this logic, couldn't we reduce crime by making more things legal?

How about we reduce speeding by raising the speed limits?

Wow, three pull-ups is nothing! My daughter could easily do that.

My son is a Marine, and before he even considered applying to the USMC he could do 20.

Yeah but once a month they’re a lot meaner than your average Jarhead.

That’s just kinda weird.

I know some pretty hot chicks who can do 10 pull ups.

If you can’t do 30, you shouldn’t be in.

I know some pretty tough women out there that could compete with any man physically.

Not a surprise to me. Back in the 1980s when we got a huge influx of females in the Army, they could not meet the lowest men's physical standards back then. When a 25 year old man had to do something like 40 pushups just to pass the pushup test, a female had to do only like 15. When we went to the rifle range, we were always there two to four hours longer just attempting to get the women to qualify with the weapon. Most women have never been near a rifle when they come into the military. Especially women from the northern big cities. Women from the south or southwest were better with a rifle as some grew up with fathers who took them hunting. Thus they were somewhat better shots.

But in my entire career, and in the last five years I was in the Army, my commanders always appointed me as the NCOIC (non-commissioned officer in charge) of the weapons (M-16) qualifications ranges. I NEVER had a woman qualify on the first try. Back then you fired 20 shots from a fox hole position and the next 20 from the prone, unsupported position. Most never hit a thing from the prone. Even a lot of men shot poorly from the unsupported prone position. But women were very poor shots. I even had women try to get out of shooting because they said they were afraid of the weapon and shooting. But weapons qualification was required once a year back in the day. I do not know what they do now. But this poor physical standards deal is not a surprise, except for the 2 mile run. Several did run very very well, but not the upper body qualifications, the pushup and the situps. Sorry ladies, that is just how it was back then.

Anybody that cannot do 3 pullups does not belong in the military period.

Another example of the triumph of egalitarian attitudes and beliefs. If unchecked egalitarianism will kill our Republic. The cure of this current illness will have to be almost as bad as the disease.

My lib uncle told me that all the squad leaders should simply not send the women in when they think it’s a situation the woman are not fit for.

Because, as we all know, wars and combat are run on strict rules like football games. With timeouts, fixed schedules for fighting. Substitution rules that can be used in the middle of a firefight. And so on. How do you reason with mentally ill people??

There is a (small) silver lining to this whole pile of crap. When the Feds decide to impose a form of martial law on this country, a dumbed down and physically unfit army is going to be in a world of hurt when the people fight back. Imagine the consternation when they try to nail down LA and snipers take out as many female grunts as they can? When the “partisans” start targeting the women soldiers, these PC commanders are going to crap their pants. Because in that scenario, it will be war. An armed female grunt is just as viable target as a male. Chivalry doesn’t apply when they are shooting at *you*.

The dumb ass civilians overseeing the military are making the same mistakes over and over as in the past. They have a religious faith in the infallibility and superiority of technology. Unless they think they can bomb all the urban areas in the US into rubble, they are going to find that their faith is misplaced. And taking a city is a lot different than holding it.

There has been a double standard in the physical fitness tests for decades. When I was in the service, you had to do a 1-1/2 or 2 mile run (in PT gear) within so many minutes. The lime to complete was adjusted by age of the participant. You also had to do a certain number of sit ups and push ups. There was also a body mass index that had to be passed to get a favorable score.

The bottom line was that if a healthy 20 year old woman could do the minimum (or just passing) for a marginally fit, 45 year old male, she was rated as outstanding. The PFT scores were used as a bludgeon to disqualify males from promotion or retention while early promote and retain females when reductions in forces occurred.

While I greatly admire and respect the fairer sex --- vive la différence --- I personally wouldn't want to share a fox hole with a woman in a combat situation.
A wounded warrior needs a buddy physically strong enough to carry him to safety where he can be administered to by a CORPSEman.
I see this article as evidence that the leftist social experiment of women in combat positions is having the primary desired effect of lowering US military standards.
