Sir Paul McCartney has become the latest celebrity to call for Scotland to stay as part of the UK before the country's vote on independence next month.
The ex-Beatle made the declaration as the Let's Stay Together campaign sought support in Liverpool on Saturday.

No Liverpool is part of Ireland. The joke is usually something like there are more Irish in Liverpool than Dublin.
If Scotland leaves, doesn’t this remove a large part of the Labor presence in parliament? I know they have like one Tory elected.
That video needs a Dragon Lady alert. Man, Yoko’s voice is like nails on a chalkboard.
They didn't learn from Cambodia, Cuba, North Korea, and the Soviet Union. Some people think that the only thing wrong with Hell is that the wrong people are in charge.
Let it be.
‘Trainspotting’ Ewan McGregor as ‘Rent-boy’ Renton:
“Some hate the English. I don’t. They’re just wankers.
We, on the other hand, were COLONIZED by wankers.”
Glasgow is full of Irish.
That’s why the Rangers-Celtic rivalry is so intense. Celtic is the Irish Catholic team while Rangers is the Irish Protestant (Loyalist) team.
There was a related vid, or somethin’, that I didn’t dare post the link, more anti-Yoko stuff, but the narration was quite profane.
The fact that he's a "sir" and relishes that fact, says it all.
He can afford to be a SNOB so let him enjoy being one. That rank has a limited shelf-life while the one I aspire to has no rank and no "privileges", but it lasts eternally and I take great comfort in knowing that.
I thought Paul was dead...
The SNPs policy is to liberalise immigration to allow more people to settle there. It has been threatened to erect border posts to stop them entering England if this happens.
That is the song I thought of when I clicked on this thread.
“I thought Paul was dead...”
Nope, Paul is the walrus. Coo coo ca choo.
You are wrong Scotland send more money to London than we get back plus

Sean Connery is also a ‘Sir’ and he is fighting for Scottish Independence (not that he lives there anymore). The difference between Scottish Independence and American independence is that Scotland has always, since 1707, had representation in Parliament, and since 1999, they have also been running most of their domestic affairs. Unlike the American colonies, Scotland has been enjoying a privileged status that has not been granted to England, which is now suffering from a democratic deficit thanks to Scots MPs having a say over purely English affairs that are not within the competence of English MPs to decide in Scotland anymore.
Not that I care about the economics of it really, the whole point is that we are a family of nations within the Union, and that goes for Wales and Northern Ireland as well, which are indisputably net economic liabilities within the UK.
If Scotland does become independent, it will become a socialist hell-hole, but with sky-high interest rates thanks to Salmond’s reckless threat to default on their share of the debt. In other words, the Argentina of the north.
“She Loves You Yeah Yeah Yeah” is a great background for foreign policy expertise.
If Scotland votes for independence what type of government will they have; a republic, a Commonwealth monarchy, a restored monarchy with a Stuart on the throne, etc.?
Thanks for the info! I knew it wasn’t a big hit here but went to wiki out of curiosity: “ The song remains the UK’s best-selling completely non-charity single. Despite its international appeal, the song was not a major hit in North America, where the flipside “Girls’ School” received more airplay and reached #33 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #34 on the Canadian RPM charts. “Mull of Kintyre” was not a pop hit at all in the US, but did manage to reach #45 on the Easy Listening chart.”
Had heard it on a best of Wings album
Scotland will retain the Queen (at least initially) in the event of independence. There won’t be a Stuart restoration, even most Scots weren’t in favour of that back in the 18th Century. In any case, the current Stuart pretender is Franz von Bayern, the Duke of Bavaria, who is most assuredly as German as Bratwurst and Sourkraut, making a mockery of Jacobite complaints about the current royals being ‘German’.
