Voting Democrat Won't Teach GOP a Lesson
Rush Limbaugh ^ | September 18, 2014

Posted on 09/19/2014 2:35:07 AM PDT by SMGFan

CALLER: Rush 24/7 dittos, Rush. In line with your Battered Wife Syndrome, I have decided this election to vote straight Democrat and Libertarian to punish the GOP because they have treated conservatives so harshly for the last God knows what. Eight years? I'm done. I'm out. I'm leaving the relationship 'cause if I don't leave it, as that other caller said, I have no right to complain about it. I won't just not vote, 'cause that's apathy. I'm gonna vote the other party, and Libertarian wherever there are those candidates.

RUSH: Wait a minute. I didn't say that Republican voters are exhibiting symptoms of the battered wife. I said elected Republicans are exhibiting those symptoms. You realize you're not gonna teach 'em a lesson. All you're gonna do is allow liberals to continue their swath of destruction on the country. If you actually do that, that's the end result of what you're gonna do. They're not gonna learn any lessons from it.

CALLER: If Republicans win, they are liberal anyway.

RUSH:

+++++

Four million Republicans who voted in '08 didn't vote in 2012, and had they, Romney would have been elected. I don't care what you think of Romney, he would have been much better than what we've got. Without question. I mean, that's not even up for debate. But you're not gonna show 'em a lesson. They're not gonna get that. That's not what's gonna change their minds.

I don't have time to get into a full explanation of what happens next, but doing that is not how conservatives can gain dominance of the Republican Party, which is what needs to happen here. You're not gonna do that by electing the enemy. (sigh)

USIP—an American UKIP—is the only thing that might possibly restore the GOP. And if even that won’t work, then you’ve got yourself a party to replace them with.

(And what a cop out, that Rush “doesn’t have the time” to explain what an effective solution would be.)

” Now even Anne Coulter says we should not challenge rino’s in primaries:”

Think about it. A lot of angry voters in the primary did back flips when one of their “pure conservatives” such as Ann Coulter endorsed one of their candidates. What arrogant egos we have as figureheads. They sell us books by the millions and bullship by the shovel load. Voting is a one precinct at a time process, and the person getting the most votes wins. Who cares what Sarah Palin thinks about your candidate? I’m not claiming to be happy with all of those outcomes, but I have voted in every election since 1960.

sometimes I feel that we on the right would rather win an argument than an election. We would rather be 10% an enemy than 90% a friend. That piss poor attitude has to change if we are to move our agenda forward.

The GOPe doesn't even want my vote. They said I'm raciss. Why would the GOPe want us raciss Tea Partiers to vote for them?

I vote every election, but I won't pull the lever for leftists, fascists, socialists, gun grabbers, homos, or baby killers, in either party, ever again. If you can't win my vote in the general election, then that's your problem. Right now the GOPe is running a platform of....? Nothing. They're running for office, but don't even know why.

Voting RINO does not change a thing. Stop voting RINO, get closed primaries, stop voter cheating. Stop blaming the people who stay home. The real problems need to be fixed and pointed out over and over. Bring real voting back and more people will vote.

“Staying home is the same as voting Democrat.”

Voting for John Cornyn is the same as voting democrat.
So who do I vote for?
The lying democrat or the lying democrat who says he’s
a conservative republican.

I never said anything about Coulter. She is just background noise to me. She had her day but when it looked like Christy was her new found boy toy, she lost me totally. I bought a few of her books but that has ended as well.

Rush has ceased to be a leader and has turned into a whiner. Accordingly, I don’t listen to him anymore.

Also, the Republicans controlled both chambers of Congress for a period during the G. W. Bush administration—What did they do then to roll back liberalism? Nothing. In fact, they couldn’t wait to roll-over for the Dems in the minority and the MSM.

Further, what has the GOP given us to vote for in NOV? Nothing. Example—The GOP-controlled House just voted to fully fund Obamacare.

So anyone who wants to criticize me for staying home or voting third party can go pi$$ up a rope.

you make some good points, almost.....but back to the premise of “teaching the GOP a lesson.”

THATS NOT WHAT ELECTIONS ARE FOR. And besides, it is US who get taught a lesson - defeated congressmen become lobbyist and make 10X what they did as congressmen. Staffers remain. Consultants remain, and get rehired. There IS NO LESSON EVER TAUGHT. To stay home or vote Democrats to “teach them all a lesson” is just a borderline retarded concept. I realize you didn’t say that, but that is the premise of this entire segment of Rush’ show.

I’m betting a thousand dollars you can’t go to Rush’ website, where every word is archived, and produce a single instance where he “whined”

So stop whining bout Rush’s whining.

USIP is the way at this point. Does one ever consider the number of former conservative Democrat voters who are just as disenfranchised as conservative Republicans who have stopped voting as well? I still remember the Reagan Democrats. Where did they go? I submit the same place as the newly disenfranchised Republicans.

If we were to have a Reagan today in a new party devoid of partisanship and focused squarely and only on the Constitution . . .

I'm copying this from another thread I posted in:

"If you want more of something, subsidize it... " ~Ronald Reagan.

I'm taking that quote out of context, but it applies. RHINOs keep winning because people continue to vote for them. They don't care if you're holding your nose or not. When majority of Americans don't pay attention to politics, it's my belief that the Republican voting citizens will generally vote for whomever is the R nominee. If that means a D is needed to unseat an incumbent RHINO in order to enable a conservative who can more easily beat the D next election (at least in red states), then so be it.

That being said, i think the reason Freepers are so divided is that it comes down to level of comfort with RHINOness (which, like risk amount and insurance, is a subjective decision). If the vote was between Hitler and Stalin, I think you'd see a lot more people voting third party. When it's John McCain vs someone like Wendy Davis, it's not so clear. At this point, I'm tired of explaining how Republicans are not conservative, so failed Republican policies aren't failed conservative policies despite how much a RHINO may sound like a conservative. Additionally, I'm tired of rewarding bad politicians' bad policies. As a result, I'm more in the purity camp. I would probably "compromise" for Rand Paul, but if McCain or Romney runs again, I won't vote for either of them. Additionally, if I lived in the respective states, I would definitely vote D over the following people: Boehner, McConnell, John McCain, and Thad Cochran.

One other note - not voting is always a bad idea. If you don't like either candidate, vote third party or write someone in. Abstaining looks like apathy when votes are tallied, whereas a third party vote is a direct vote of dissatisfaction.

If the Dems ran the House today Amnesty would have been a DONE DEAL, and the Dems would be counting some 30 Million new voters 10 years from now...and the Republicans would have about as much power as we had after Watergate, which would mean that we would be invited on to talk shows but otherwise COMPLETELY REMOVED from having a say in how the country is run.

But I know the Dems, and if they’re not sending TROLLS out to call talk radio, and post on Internet forums, trying to depress loyal Republican voters, I would be SHOCKED.

For us Tea Party Republicans, sure we had a lot of losses in the Primaries, but we had one HUGE WIN, and that was sending Cantor on his ass. For with Cantor gone, all talk about Amnesty coming out of Congress died with him...that is a HUGE WIN and I’m still CELEBRATING it!

Among voting for one or other candidate is a two point swing while not voting is only a one point swing.

This discussion is not complete without Rush's other comments of the day about his ( and ours ) lack of enthusiasm for the GOP or as I call them the EGOP. Yes I am one of those who he speaks of in the article that have had it with the GOP and want another party.

http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2014/09/18/give_us_something_to_cheer_gop

This was a big deal this rant, it ranked up their with this one:

I feel liberated. … I no longer am gonna have to carry the water for people who I think don’t deserve having their water carried. … If those in our party who are going to carry the day in the future both in Congress and the administration are going to choose a different path than what most of us believe, then that’s liberating."

This quote above was from Nov-2006 after they got their arse's handed to them.

Sad to say, it has been 8 years since 06' and I feel like us Conservatives with the likes of a Boehner and a McConnell have been wandering in the Desert.

Vote Democrat and keep them in power - boy, that’ll teach the Republicans? Stupid. Sort of like painting your windows black because you don’t like the color the neighbors painted their house.

Moving the nation to the right is simple. Always vote for the best candidate who will effect an overall conservative outcome. If voting for a third party will give the election to the Democrats and control of the Senate as well, you’ve allowed the divide and conquer strategy of the Democrats to work. It’s how Clinton got elected, folks.

Interesting ... battered wife syndrome. Wonder if anyone asked Rush:

If a man remained infuriated with his newly divorced ex-wife, would it make sense
for him to switch ... teams in an attempt to teach his ex-wife a lesson?

I don't think anyone could say that it would be a logical or even helpful move,
but hey, when seeking revenge, where are the brakes applied?
