Freakin Jaw is killin me... (my vanity, my title)
Vanity | Vendome

Posted on 09/19/2014 9:37:30 PM PDT by Vendome

So yeah, I posted lame "topics" but, y'all love me, so here it is.

cracked my back molar, dentist put a temp on it, crushed the lil plastic thing yesterday, pretty dentist put the old aluminium one on until the permanent comes from Vietnam or wherever.

Thing is, it hurts, like it's bare and for the 1st time in my life my stomach hurts.

Okay, so I whine but, could be worse, right?

I mean, I'm a single, 51 year old man. If were pregnant and walking the streets of Somalia, I don't think, maybe, they would understand.

I feel it might be great if someone put a hatchet through my left foot.

I mean, I don't really use the the thing, not even for driving and hell, the distraction?

Priceless!

So, there it is. Vendome whines for the 1st time but, dernit! It feels like what's left of my tooth is in a vise!

Arghhhh!!!!

I wish Donna from "Suits" was here. She could Donnafy the situation and all would....well, likely be ...uhm...well...

Doning flame suit and appreciate your best excoriating comments.

Yer the best!

Looking at her, you’d forget about any pain you’d have.

Call dentist’s office. Usually there is a message on there to call “x” number if emergency. Cal that number. Doc should order pain killer like hydrocodone and maybe antibiotic if doc thinks it is infected. Take the pain killer and antibiotic if given, put on oragel or Walgreens oral gel after taking pills. Then, put on music you like and lie back and close eyes. The oral gel of whichever kind will knock down the pain until the pain pill takes over but you can still keep putting oral gel on it should the pain begin to come back. Take pain pill as ordered and use oral gel until doc can fix it.

Or you could try my boss’s old remedy.

Alcohol and aspirin.

Drink alcohol tonight until the pain goes away.

Take the aspirin when you wake up with a hangover in the morning. ;-)

.. this seems to help protect my stomach from that clutching, clawing sensation that I can get after lots of strong pain meds day after day.

I've learned that hot, strong, good-quality coffee in the AM just rips my guts, giving me the clutching, clawing sensation. I can't live without coffee, so I'm buying the Iced Coffee from International Delight and slip in a tube of Folgers to amp it up.

Tramodol or Vicodine, even oxy codone is like throwing a wet dishrag at a charging bear.

Plus, you can, in your agony, OD on the crap, trying to get it to work.

There is some good advice on the thread as far as clove oil, or Ambesol. Soak a cotton ball with it and stick it right in the center of the molar. It might help some and is more effective then pain meds..

Booze works to get you to sleep too..

Sounds to me from what he said, a old cap came off a back molar. When the packing crud they put in there originally crumbles and come out, the nerve at the base of the tooth is exposed. Hurts like hell.

Probably also on the bottom jaw as his ear hurts..

Been there done that..and since he is already seeing a dentist...there is not much to do but grin and scream if necessary..

Throw a few things....stay away from small pets and children..

No more mercury in my mouth now. Got rid of the last filling a couple of years ago.

I agree, I think it’s getting infected. He should call a dentist or see a doc in the box ASAP. That’s nothing to play around with.

If you read the post, he is already seeing a dentist.

He is waiting on a new cap to be delivered..He broke the temporary..and they stuck his old cap back on..

Unlikely it’s infected..but it could get that way..

You’re not alone.
Been there. Done that.

You have an infected abcess. And are probably looking at a week or ten days of Antibiotics. Before more than a grand’s worth of Root Canal and possibly, a bridge.

One of the next stages in what you are going thru is called "sepsis". Google it and then post here when you get back from the E.R.

You'll feel a lot better knowing you've covered all your bases

I don't mean to be scary. but if it gets youu back here on line...it was worth it.

Anbesol is what dentists dab on your gums to numb them.

I would definately NOT drink since you can’t drink enough to cut the pain so you’ll end up sick.

Call your dentist for their 24 hour recommendation. if they aren’t there check the internet or Yelp for dentists who do 24 service. Or tough it out until morning.

I think an implant. Dentists are ditching root canals for implants.

Good luck, eat some jelly beans. Really chew ‘em. Or, shoot some heroin, and then, chew jelly beans.

Don’t listen to them Vendome. Get a pair of Vicegrips and yank that bad boy out. Gargle with some bourbon and you’re done.

I’ve had many many many crowns and crowns replace over the course of my life. I have never had a tooth hurt unless it was broken or infected. Unless the temporary is causing his gums to swell. But that’s noticeable.

And the key is equalizing the PH so it doesn’t just murder your good gut bacteria. Mine dies off like lettuce in August, but I can put it back in a day or so.

Reality is, juice and water, and no carbonated beverages to blow your good gut bacteria to kingdom come.
