'Hands up' gesture by St. Louis Rams NFL players riles police group
American Thinker ^ | 12/01/2014 | Rick Moran

Five St. Louis Rams football players came on to the field for the pre-game introductions with their hands raised in the familiar "hands up, don't shoot" pose of protestors demonstrating the decision of the Ferguson grand jury in the Michael Brown shooting case.

The political statement has been condemned by the St. Louis Polcie Officers Association, who expressed their displeasure with the Rams organization and demanded the players be sanctioned.

The statement deserves to be published in its entirety:

From KDSK:

"Five members of the Rams entered the field today exhibiting the "hands-up-don't-shoot" pose that has been adopted by protestors who accused Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson of murdering Michael Brown. The gesture has become synonymous with assertions that Michael Brown was innocent of any wrongdoing and attempting to surrender peacefully when Wilson, according to some now-discredited witnesses, gunned him down in cold blood."

Heard this morning on WFAN that one of the players, Kenny Britt, has a long record in NJ, and is a member of the Bloods.

The NFL should fine these punks and flat out tell them and everyone that the NFL will not tolerate any behavior by players and or staff that does not pertain to the game of football and/or good sportsmanship prior to during and after the game.

I don’t go one inch out of my way to watch those people and I’d NEVER spend my entertainment dollars subsidizing a team or a person who insulted me or this country... period

I have been a ‘cultural dissident’ for so long I can’t remember when I WASN’T!

I won’t support them or enable what they do!

Given the outcome of yesterday’s game, it’s the Raiders who should have taken that pose.

Awesome!

Bingo. Don't go to movies and don't watch NFL bs on tv. It is amazing how conservatives don't use our power of NO!

I don't GET why (if you object) you would STILL continue to purchase tickets to their games.

WE also hold the power of the purse... and it's time the people who have such a free hand to insult us and defy the law should SEE that it comes at a price.

It's the same with the purchase of movie tickets and all the BS media products that come out of Hollywood.

DON'T BUY the tickets...PERIOD!!

And rightly so. Those players are sick. Go get a real job and quit complaining.

Speaking of the Raiders, trade their asses to Oakland, the thug (most thug? most thuggish? most thuggishest?) team of the NFL.

They should have just been invited to board the team plane before it left Lambert Field.

So what would be the response if a bunch of white players displayed a similar sort of message supporting Wilson? Do you think the lib media would approve of that like they will the pro-Brown message by blacks? I doubt it. The white player’s pro-Wilson message would be described as insensitive to blacks and borderline racist.

Pro or anti Brown, the players should be fined. On the field in team uniform is not the place for demonstrations.

When I saw the footage, I was very disgusted. Not a football fan, but I hope their attendance goes down. Too bad, they are not directly affected by sales. They would be cut for not making their marketing goals. I heard they won their game. Hopefully, their fans can show a way of getting across their displeasure, which will make their stop their offensive behavior.

If they came out with their hands folded in prayer, there would be no hesitancy about sidelining them.

Ahhh... but what if they pray facing towards Mecca?

Bread and circuses! That is precisely why I haven’t been able to really enjoy any sporting event since November 2012.
