That’s one reason that I prefer to go through Meridian, even though it’s app an hour more on my drive to Virginia. I generally do the drive in 2 days anyway. There are some places in the Carolinas where I won’t stop even for gas, either. One was having women being carjacked and/or raped in broad daylight at service stations, a couple of years ago.
Much like East St. Louis, Illinois.
LOL I actually drove through there last spring.
It was more of an empty wasteland than anything else, although I probably wouldn’t try it in the dark.
Kind of like where I grew up on the east side of Cleveland.
Don’t you hate it when your mapping software routes you down Martin Luther King Blvd?
With Huntsville....you are lucky....the north-south interstate skips town entirely (four miles to west). The next town that you would cross is Athens, and I’d put a three-star rating to stop off there for food, drink and gas. Very safe area, and local cops keep it that way. As for Huntsville? Well...outskirts of town is fairly safe, but central part of the city is a place to avoid, especially after dark.

The Obama administration tells us that all these children were fleeing central America to escape violence and poverty. My question is, “Then why are they coming here?”
I’d guess closer to 5% bad, 50% good and 45% willing to look the other way for a cut of the loot.

20 years ago, Huntsville was a pretty safe place to be. It’s a shame it has gone in the wrong direction.
He was “unarmed” and therefore innocent. (sarc/)
If on I59 heading south, I’d stop ten miles north of town near Springville. If on I65, stop around Mt Olive. Several gas stations near each area and generally safe twenty-four hours a day. Don’t pull off the interstate, once you enter the city limits of Birmingham, period. The airport is the only place where you might feel somewhat safe. I had to ride into the Amtrak station there last summer, really shook my head over that decision.
About the same percentage graduate from high school.
About 5% of the total population - young black men - commit over 50% of the homicides ..
If blacks make up 12% of the population, with about half of those are female, some are small children, and older who dont commit as many crimes.

I am confident some liberal judge will take this into consideration when it comes to sentencing.
” He pushed her down and covered her mouth...”
and they say robbery was the motive...RIGHT!!!!!
Well, something like a third of all black men are either in prison, awaiting trial or on parole/probation, so I’m going with that, lacking other data.
Add Gary, Indiana. I ran out of gas on 80/94 at night there a few years ago. I walked to the nearest gas station. The windows were covered by the heaviest gauge chain link material made by US Steel. My watch was taken as collateral for the gas can. Far too many “locals” hanging around for my comfort.
When I made to my buddy’s house and told him what happened, he was shocked I was alive.
Where do you live, because I can say that my experience is overwhelmingly the opposite.

I am for good old time justice. He would never ever do something like that again. And it wouldn’t have mattered if he was black or white.
Yeah, I have to drive through Gary on the way to my in-laws in Michigan. I pray upon approaching it.
