Anyone else spending Christmas Eve alone?
The bizarro world of brother skooz | 12/24/2014 | Skooz

Hello all. Sitting here at home and wondering if anyone else out there is spending this evening alone.

On this night of all nights when families gather and friends share gifts and time, some of us are, for various reasons, spending Christmas Eve solo.

Not necessarily a bad thing - alone doesn't always mean lonely. But, it does mean alone.

Check in if that includes any of you, my fellow Freepers.

Just me and my little yorkie Toby here tonight. I slipped in some water on the floor earlier this year and cannot drive very well until I heal. I made some homemade candies, cookies and other treats and made gift bags for my wonderful neighbors who have been kind enough to help me while I am recovering. They all came over this afternoon and I had the opportunity to tell each one of them how much I appreciate them. So for now it is me and Toby. I am truly blessed.

Give his situation to God, walk away, and let God arrange his careening into a wall.

Someone posted a picture on FB recently. It had a figure of a kid lookng at the stars. The caption said, “maybe stars are just openings where our loved ones look down at us.”. A nice thought, anyway.

Geez Louise, MamaB. I’m so sorry.

May God give you the comfort and joy only He can bring.

And may 2015 be profoundly filled with His blessings and peace.

Yep, alone, but enjoying the quiet. Wrapped up the last of the presents, getting ready to write some notes from the heart to stick in my adult kids’ cards. I’ll whip up some stuff in the kitchen early tomorrow morning for our get-together at the ex’s place tomorrow afternoon.

This is a wonderful thread. Thanks for starting it Skooz. And thank you to all who are posting such heart-warming graphics.

But I see so much pain expressed here, too. My thoughts and prayers are with my fellow FReepers who are trying to navigate through such loss and pain and drama. May you encounter Christ’s love and healing in the stillness.

Give it to God and walk out of his life — don’t try to be a buffer in it.

You’ve scolded him enough for a lifetime. Don’t waste more wind hovering over him and hoping that this scold, that scold, the other scold will make it through.

SweetiePalm and I are spending Christmas Eve and Day as just the two of us.

When you are a FReeper, you are never truly alone. If you need help with something or just want to talk, someone is always there.

Merry Christmas to all and a safe return to all who are traveling.

Not sure what it means to claim “we are the saviors of the republic.” We can only be servants of the Lord.

“Merry Christmas, all. I am alone and can’t sleep. I was supposed to spend the evening with my mentally ill adult son but he ruined another Christmas. I suspect he may be an alcoholic but he has always been a troublemaker.”

I’m sorry to hear that.

But you need to take care of you! Do something special for yourself.

If he’s an alcoholic, he’s completely self-absorbed and will use and manipulate you. Then try to make you feel guilty about it, LOL. Don’t take it seriously and be good to yourself.

Hi Skooz,

You felling better now about being alone on Christmas? It could be so much worse....in the hospital suffering, or being shot at in a war zone....

It’s well after mid-night here and I’m having Sloppy Joes and Extra Sharp White Cheese! LOLOL

I decided I would not go to bed until I fall into it! ..and sleep until my body says rise!

Rockin’ around the Christmas tree.

To those of you who are speaking words of wisdom but not necessarily addressing them to me....I am reading and benefiting from your words...thank you for being here tonight.

I am so very happy in my religion; it’s the best one for me personally. But the passion of the worship I totally get in that song. I just love it.

I agree.

I’m without company here for the time being, but I am blessed. A warm home, food on the belly, loved ones I’ll see tomorrow, a good job, gorgeous Christmas music in the background, a fire to keep me warm, a beautiful tree, the ability to buy gifts for those I love, clothes on my back, shoes on my feet, and no one is shooting at me.

And my wonderful, merciful, forgiving Savior to whom I owe everything.

It’s a wonderful life.

His mother continues to be his last resort.

My idea, after these last several months and the tremendous amount of garbage, obtuse and adolescent rationale, is to let him fall hard.

Each day he is enabled is another month he doesn’t succeed at being at least a functioning adult.

I am done.

I had planned on starting a new business but, I want to leave bad enough that I am just going to get a job for a while.

I’ll make six figures as that is what my industry pays and I can earn.

I don’t see how I can succeed with this distraction and work from home.

Best to move on.

And besides, God must favor me, as I always earn in the top 5%.

I’ll develop the business on the side and when it reaches $10k in personal income, I’ll leave.

Bonus will be group insurance at a reasonable cost, my cell phone and gas paid for as well. That right there is $800 a month in reimbursed expense.

“I’ve got to be free,

I’ve got to be me...”
