Glenn Beck on Tuesday tore into Congressman Chris Stewart (R-Utah) over his decision to vote for John Boehner as speaker of the House, saying he believes Stewart who has been his friend for years is losing his soul.
Beck asked the congressman whether it was Boehners decision to fund Obamacare, his support of the CRomnibus bill, or his decision to continually delay any action in opposing President Barack Obamas agenda that garnered his support.
Stewart said the allegations against Boehner arent true, and continued: I think in the time we have here, we cant go back and review the last two, or four, or six years of votes you may or may not agree with him on. But the bottom line is this: I think we should be celebrating today, and its discouraging to me that instead this has become such a divisive day. We had a great election in November. For the first time weve got a united front where we can oppose President Obama.
We have a united Congress, and theyre giving the green light to the president on amnesty, Beck said. Theyre giving a green light on the CRominbus thats a trillion dollars, Chris!
Beck reversed and analogized the situation, asking Stewart what he would do if he found Beck in a brothel, insisting that he wasnt doing anything wrong and was just friends with all the women.
Stewart laughed. Well, it depends, Glenn. How attractive are the young ladies in the brothel, right?
Beck shook his head. You told, us, Chris, to come down on you like a bag of bricks if we ever felt you were losing your soul. This is bag of bricks time. We think youre losing your soul.
Stewart said he appreciated Becks words, but remained firm in his decision, saying he thinks Beck may have misunderstood some of his previous stances.
I do think that there are times where, you and I agree, that youve indicated, that I havent agreed with you, Stewart said. I think youve indicated that Ive said or implied things that I certainly havent, and I never have. And I think you and I agree on far more than we disagree.
It is the game, Chris, Beck said heatedly. Youre playing the game. Stop playing the game!
You dont think we can do better, Chris? Becks co-host Stu Burguiere added. You dont think we can do better than John Boehner?
Listen, gentlemen, who do you suppose that we should support here? Stewart retorted.
All three immediately said Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert would make a far better speaker than John Boehner.
Do you know how many votes Louie Gohmert will get? Stewart said. As much as I like Louie, hes not the person to lead the house right now.
But John Boehner is? Beck said.
We can agree to disagree on that, Stewart remarked.
Beck told Stewart that people are done with the kind of games he is playing, and that he will not be re-elected if he continues playing politics against the interests of the American people.
Glenn, I disagree with you, Stewart said. I think that by 2016, when the American people see what the Republicans have been trying to do for the last years, when we now have allies in the Senate who will help us to do those things in the next two years, were going to be able to move forward on the REINS Act, on reforming Obamacare, or eliminating Obamacare
I dont believe you, Beck said flatly. Theres no evidence. Youve never done it, Chris! Its never happened!
Beck concluded by saluting Stewart for having the courage to come on the show, but reiterated that he is worried about the mans soul.
Wah wah waaaaaaah! There is nobody to take my hand and lead me to do the right thing, so I voted for the liar, thief, liberal db, Boehner!
What they were SUPPOSED to do is vote for anyone but Boehner. The fact that they voted for Boehner strengthened his power base. Contributing to Boehner’s increased power, is evil.
They were not sent there to play a game of “power bases”, they were sent there to save our country. They just showed us they don’t give a damn about the country...they are too busy trying to build their power base.
I registered to vote in 1960 when I got out of the army, had to be 21 then and I registered Republican. Today my wife and I dropped out of the GOP and declared our registration as Independent, the GOPe is dead to me and mine. It would help if Mark would drop out as well, but I doubt if he will.
Danged if you don't sound like Chris did when Beck tried to pin him down. Weasel words are a learned debate technique.
“But I refuse to go down without fighting.”
and how are you fighting?
whining like a little pouting adolescent girl is not fighting
“...hated by your former friends here.”
who on here was your friend?
“Hey if you got something more effective to do while we wait for God to send Reagan back, Lets hear it. Because my whole freaking POINT is that no one with the power to DO SOMETHING BUT BITCH....DID.”
again - tell us what you have ever done?
“So I fight.”
how?
riiiiight
and your whining (and calling it ‘fighting’) is so much more productive
delusion
Am I hearing right? Beck thinks he was too mean to Stewart yesterday and is going to have Stewart on today to be nicer to him?
from Brietbart:
Last week, Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large John Nolte wrote that Beck should not have made his announcement in a way that allowed the mainstream press to bash and mock conservatives. Nolte emphasized that rather than acknowledge the other side has a reasonable argument against what hes doing that is every bit as humane as his, Beck chose to puff himself up as a martyr and handed the likes of Morning Joe ready-made talking points to bash his own supporters and conservatives in general as cold-hearted and even un-Christian.Nolte noted that the truly compassionate thing to do is to ensure youre not doing anything that might encourage more parents to send their unaccompanied children on that harrowing trek. He added that it is not insane, unreasonable, or lacking in compassion to argue that news of a major American media figure greeting children at the border with toys could be used by the drug smugglers and human traffickers already exploiting these kids as a way to recruit more.
Beck should have attacked the parents of these children (most of whom were NOT children) or the governments that push out their citizens or the US for having wide-open border.
Anyone who thinks we don't have a point resenting these invaders can come and look at my son's school - where all resources are going to help "immigrant" children while programs like honors and after school sports are being cut and science labs closed to make way for English-learner labs.
Resent it? Damn right I do. My own children are not only being hurt by this, I am forced to pay for it.
Oh, you're hearing as clearly as crystal. I turned on Beck's show at 11:00, and he said he called the guy last night and apologized...said that's not how he wants to be. Classic Beck.
Stewart is on now, pumping up Boehner and saying why, of course, the Speaker expects to be challenged. So why is he punishing people?
As an aside, that bumper music Beck plays at the top of the hour is the absolute worst I have ever heard. It's some kind of plaintive screeching/caterwauling by an undetermined gender about how "we all want to be loved." Again....typical Beck.
” You will be mocked and hated by your former friends on FR. But you will be welcome with us Purists.”
Welcome Irenic : )
Day 2...levin still member of party of Evil.
Sloop doggy dog still enthralled in hero worship.
So, Chris Stewart, what does "reforming ObamaCare" mean and did you campaign to "reform or eliminate ObamaCare"? What the heck is the REINS Act? Did you campaign on this act? Will you resign if these goals, as weak as they are, are not met?
He has criticized the families of these children for sending them here. He has also said that while they’re here, we should take the best care of them we can. They are our brothers and sisters, after all.
He highlighted the case of one child who was found dead in the desert with the address of some relatives in Chicago in his pocket. He remarked how terribly sad cases like that are and criticized the family for sending their child here to die like that.
Glenn has been very critical of them, their families, and the policy makers who let this happen (indeed, encouraged it.) He’s also been compassionate towards the children, who have nobody and are pretty much abandoned by their own irresponsible parents (as Beck has pointed out numerous times.) I’m one of millions who heard him say it.
Beck gave up on politics because he did not see a political solution to our problem. Most here are beginning to agree with that notion now.
I have also recognized that the solution is NOT Directly political but must come from a cultural shift in perception of what politics actually means.
Politics is the open exchange of ideas with thoughtful consideration and debate.
Sadly too many on the left have completely given up on the “Thoughtful consideration” part and simply don’t care or don’t take the time to understand anything in its proper context. They have taken the easy way out.
I'm so glad I'm not alone in that thought.
GMTA! Glad someone else feels the same way. I stopped listening to that fool years ago, me me me, I I I.
Bingo
