I believe I’ll go into a halal market here in Houston and demand bacon, beer and dirty magazines.

How about if a gay couple comes in and orders off the menu?

Can you refuse to serve them due to religious objections?

"Do I have a right to demand a steak dinner in an Indian restaurant or a ham and swiss cheese sandwich on rye in a Jewish deli?"

Only if they are in the business of selling those things to everyone else.

Your Logic is Flawed.

As in you assume that Liberals care about that.

The Issue is Not The Issue, The Issue is The Revolution.

Whatever advances Liberalism is there cause.

To them, Laws are made of Pudding, Not Iron.

“ham and swiss cheese sandwich on rye”. Only in muzzie restaurants may you demand that. Chances of leaving alive for even thinking that would be an insult to moo-hamhand.

I don’t think it is an apt analogy if they don’t normally serve beef (for example). Most of the lefties I’ve been arguing with are framing it as “If you serve beef, but won’t serve it to me” as the foundation for their complaint.

In the case of the Washington florist, she sells flower arrangements, but she declined to accept a work order to create a particular floral arrangement because she found that specific request repugnant to her moral sensibilities.

We need to be careful and precise in our analogies (IMHO).

Exactly.

Or a kosher or halal butcher.

Must they sell pork if a customer wants it?

If not, are they violating the Civil Rights of pork eaters?

Those who oppose this law must support forcing the Indian restaurant to sell beef, the halal butcher shop to sell pork and the Buddhist vegetarian restaurant to sell meat.

I broke out my progressive decoder ring. It says that you have a right to beef in an Indian restaurant owned by Hindus or Christians. You do not have a right to ask for anything off menu in an Indian restaurant owned by Muslims. This has been decreed by DHS and regulations from the Deputate of Indian Restaurant Safety, which reports to the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

Yes you have the right to ask for those foods. In response the observant Hindu or Jew has the right to say they don’t serve those foods. This is called polite discourse and you and I were no doubt raised to use polite discourse in dealing with each other.

Somehow the left thinks the moral high ground is above polite discourse. It isn’t.

Do I have a right to demand a steak dinner in an Indian restaurant or a ham and swiss cheese sandwich on rye in a Jewish deli?

Inspired by rfreedom4u's suggestion, try going into a Muslim-owned restaurant and ordering a meal while wearing a large amount of bacon-scented perfume.

Better.

I am vegan baker. Can someone demand I make a cake in the shape of a pig with the logo "Pork, it does a body good"?

I am a book seller. I will order books if we do not carry them. I get an order list from one customer that is nothing but "artistic" books of photos of naked children.

Can I tell him to take his business elsewhere?

Every now & then I pass a “Gandhi” restaurant.
The weird thought comes to my head that if I go in, I'll get nothing to eat.

Does the restaurant provide those items to any other guest, but refuses them to you?

A better analogy would be to go into a Muslim print shop, and demand they print 1000 copies of a Mohammad cartoon.

This all stem from the meme of ‘equality’ and what it means. Where do your rights start and mine end?

The equivalency invoked by the Left is that gays should be treated like blacks, i.e., that being homosexual is something one is born with, like the color of skin. And therefore - like the color of someone's skin - they cannot be denied service based on that issue. Period.

What this simplistic comparison denies, however, is that not everyone accepts homosexuality is genetic, and there are long proscriptions against it in various religions. But especially, homosexuality is based on acts, whereas skin color is not.

So lumping all of these issues into demands for "tolerance" that clearly, knowingly require someone to give up their religion, and selectively targeting Christians especially and never Muslims, is NOT a "Gary rights" issue - it is social warfare. And it is being carried out as inflammatorily as possible by the Left, RIGHT NOW, precisely in order to create a distraction and a rallying point away from Hillary's troubles.

Yes, Hillary. She is the Leftist candidate. She, therefore, is associated in liberal minds with "gay freedom." Therefore her corporate friends are suddenly screaming about the 20th iteration of a Religious Freedom law right when she's being exposed as running an unauthorized espionage operation with our terrorist enemies.

This us not a coincidence. Everyone is being "wagged" by Hillary's dogs. Pay no attention to the traitor behind the emails. Oooh look, a small business where Christians won't actively abandon their faith for gay marriage - let's all scream!

I'm telling ya, it's distraction.
