McConnell votes 'NO' to defunding Planned Parenthood!!!

I told you Kentuckian Freepers to strike the head off of that snake. You kept telling me how bad Allison Grimes would be, and I kept telling you that a traitor was worse.

You will see the day when you wish you had voted for Allison Grimes. You did the worst thing possible. You gave a traitor even more power than he had before.

"McConnell votes 'NO' to defunding Planned Parenthood!!!"

Remember folks, we must always vote Republican because having Republicans controlling the Senate would make things like saving the unborn from being killed and sold for parts impossible Because the Republicans would never allow it...

Never vote third party! Never! Otherwise Democrats will control the Senate and the White House and everything else and then they will make sure the unborn can be murdered and sold for parts...

Never vote third party...

Pro-life groups endorsed mcconnell. They said Allison Grimes was extreme....mcconnell showed himself to be extreme as well.

Senate Clouter Rule - GPO. Has a history and some examples, including multiple cloture motions on a single issue. The 1980 reconsideration of a cloture motion is summarized in there too.

He is one of the sorriest, terrible people in the Senate. He is a baby killer,in my opinion now. He sabotaged this bill.

18. RECONSIDERATION
(a) When a question has been decided by the Senate, any Senator voting on the prevailing side may, on the same day, or on either of the next two days of actual session thereafter, move a reconsideration; and if the Senate shall refuse to reconsider, or upon reconsideration shall affirm its first decision, no further motion to reconsider shall be in order unless by unanimous consent. Every motion to reconsider shall be decided by a majority vote of those elected, without debate, and may be laid on the table without affecting the question in reference to which the same is made, which shall be a final disposition of the motion."

I'm just not sure people understand the motion can ONLY be presented by a member who voted with the winning side- and that is why Mitch cast that vote.

Beats me.

I'm puzzled why people think he had no option, if he intended to keep the matter alive. First, a matter is not killed by failed cloture. Second, if he wants to have another cloture vote, he could have voted with the losing side, and filed another cloture motion. Has the same effect.

McConnell changed his vote to “no” on defunding, a procedural maneuver that allows him to bring up the failed bill anytime, perhaps as soon as tomorrow. Read more: http://www.politico.com/story/2015/08/planned-parenthood-defund-fight-government-shutdown-funding-bill-120951.html#ixzz3hnhwnKXn

DISCLAIMER: I am not a MM supporter by any means. It sounds like he's using the rules of the Senate.

He is just one man. Until we have a massive change in the GOP/Congress, even with Cruz as POTUS, not much would change to reverse course.

“Great topic for the debate on Thursday.”

And the establishment GOP purports to claim that it doesn’t understand why Donald Trump is beating their little clones like rental cars.

It’s certainly not the only thing he can do.
He can allow the amendment to be offered on other bills too.

I suppose he’ll move for reconsideration after the August break after the Dems hear from their constituencies. Perhaps more damaging news will come out too.

Absurd as absurd gets - he did this so that the bill could be brought up for a vote again per the Senate rules after Democrats blocked it from being able to passed.

Seriously, folks, we should be politically astute enough by now to know something this basic. There are things for which McConnell can be criticized - this is not one of them.

-- I suppose he'll move for reconsideration after the August break ... --

Moving for reconsideration is what he did today. That's why he switched his vote to be on the prevailing side. See the cite you posted to me.

What comes next (if ever) is calling for a vote on the motion to reconsider. The only deadline for that is adjournment sine die.
