Catty? I don’t consider it “catty” to vote your principles. I had friends who claimed they were Catholic and even taught Sunday school who were pro-abortion. They used to boo the pro-life groups marching in the 4th of July parade. They are no longer our friends. Yes, they were dems.

The dem party hasn’t been pro-Christian for a long long time. Why was she running as a dem? Apparantly she wasn’t bothered by what the party stood for when she wanted to be elected to a government job. Now all of a sudden she has principles?

“Just speculating here, but perhaps the county is heavily Democrat. In many places a Republican has very little to no chance of being elected to any office. “

You are most likely right. But then I ask. Since the dems have long been in favor of abortion and gay marriage why didn’t her Christian values kick in then and denounce the dem party and stand up and run as a conservative? Yes, she may have lost but it seems like she is saying she is the type of person who just cannot go against her principles. Unless it is a cushy government job with great bennies and a pension?

You either believe in something or you don’t.

I think you’ll find that new Christians are often Democrats. Thats your missionary field right there.

When people become Christians, some things obviously change right away; their politics change more slowly. But they do change over time. They may not become Republicans, sad to say that party is becoming a shadow of what it once was. But they certainly do not remain orthodox Dems either.

This woman has proven that, in a choice between God and party, she made the right decision.

I don’t understand why fines or other sanctions were not applied instead

They need an example to encourage any potential others.

state or federal employee who refuses to perform job function X can be jailed

I'd start at the DMV. Move the Social Security office. Road Crews. Man, this might be fun.

Why Mrs. Davis is a Democrat, the party which is persecuting her, is beyond me.

Not in civil contempt. They can hold her indefinitely. Her elected term ends in about four years. They can hold her until then if she continues to refuse.

My guess is that conservative legal groups will find a sane judge which will have her out in a few days. Nevertheless, this is a judicial travesty of epic proportions.

but there is review of jail time and I assume her lawyers are going to appeal it. Very strange case and this rarely happens.

Putting her in jail makes her a political prisoner. This is a very dicey situation, and I do not think the judge realizes the can of worms he is opening.

Maybe this will be a wake-up call for her and other nominal Democrats. Why a professing born-again Christian would align with the open Party of Evil defies credulity.

She should be released and sue for false arrest. The Extreme Court inJustices who decreed this opinion masquerading as “law” should be jailed.

Referring to my # 39 regarding the jailing of this Christian lady who happens to be a southern Democrat and is quite possibly very conservative as many southern Dems are......and then referring to your subsequent post back to me.....

Your post is so idiotic I don't know why I'm taking up my valuable time to comment.

All I can say is that you'd better card all your neighbors, friends and relatives to see if they're Democrats, or, worse, yet, if they're Christian Democrats.

If they don't pass your litmus test that they can't be both, you better discard and disown all of them immediately, never to associate with them again....because, being Democrats, they're okay with "death and perversion" and can't be Christians.

After all, you just said regarding this clerk lady...."You lie down with dogs you wake up with fleas", didn't you?

I'll wager a good percentage of your friends, family and neighbors are Christians AND Democrats and are crawling with fleas. You will be a very lonely person one of these days.

I doubt the country is ever coming back. It just passed over to atheistic fascism.

Her options are to resign or appeal to the 6th Circuit, which has already denied her once. Generally, appeals courts don’t overturn contempt orders unless they find an abuse of discretion took place.
