Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump leads Democrat Hillary Clinton head-to-head, according to a new poll released Friday.

The poll by SurveyUSA finds that matched up directly, Trump garners 45 percent to Clinton’s 40 percent.

In other head-to-head matchups, Trump beats out Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) by 44 percent to 40 percent; Vice President Joe Biden by 44 percent to 42 percent; and former Vice President Al Gore by 44 percent to 41 percent.

The poll also found that 30 percent of respondents believe Trump will eventually be the Republican nominee, leading the field.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush came in second, with 20 percent saying they expect him to win the nomination. Following Bush in order were retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.).

The poll surveyed 1,000 adults across the nation Sept. 2-3, and it had a margin of error of 3.3 percent.

And we only have to wait a year and two months to find out!
Are presidential election campaigns about a year too long
and as a result, a wild misuse of a whole lot of money?

It surveyed adults though. Not good. Not limited to registered voters.

Although I thought Democrats usually do better with all adults polls, so maybe it is good for Trump. LOL

All those head-to-head matchups add up to about 85%. What about that other 15%?

I say it swings over to Trump.

Basically we know the Democrats are going to get 40% no matter what. They could nominate Boston Marathon terrorist Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and he'd get 40% of the vote.

But Trump is going to pick up everybody in the middle, including the Reagan Democrats.

It will be a 60-40 blowout. Bookmark this thread and check it on November 9, 2016. You will see that I was right.

Interesting that all those other Dems do better against Trump than Hillary.

Wonder about Kerry and Warren.

Fox News is still trying to marginalize Trump.

Every news talking head better know that messing with Diamond Donald is a bad career move. Ask Bimbo Kelly

Hard to buy at this point. It has trump getting 25% of black vote against Hillary, 30% of Hispanic and beating her with Asians. I’d like to think so, but I think it’ll take a bit more convincing to get those numbers.

How good was SurveyUSA during the 2008 and 2012 election cycles?

I agree with you. I think Trump wins this pretty handily, i’m thinking about 55-45 or somewhere around there. Although FR has been an annoying read today with everyone going apoplectic over Trump’s comments on the Kim Davis situation. According to some, yesterday he gave the best press conference ever, and today he’s a bum...
