My opinion is if those two come at you with two AR15s you’d need an AR15 and you’d have to be the one to shoot first. Or be very fast and accurate with a pistol.
Now, if they shoot and miss and you’ve got a shotgun and you’re a close enough range, both could be brought down pretty easily.

Yup. Remington 870. My weapon of choice. They kind of get lost in all the cooler stuff. With slugs, buckshot and some practice, you have a similar effective range to the AR’s in a mass shooting situation. And a lot more punch.
I think you are describing an unlikely scenario.
Most likely is that you find yourself in a place where almost everybody is disarmed. The bad guys, probably one or two of them, arrive and begin shooting fish in a barrel. They will turn their attention first to those closest to them for obvious tactical reasons.
They won't be paying attention to where they are shooting, but rather where they are about to shoot.
For best effect you want to be as far from them as possible while still being able to hit them one-half or one-third of the time.
When the shooting starts you want to make yourself as small as possible and take advantage of any cover available.
If practical, you want to shoot at the bad guy closest to you at a time when he is not looking in your direction and while he is firing. With all the noise and commotion, you hope that his first inkling that somebody is trying to kill him is when one of your bullets pierces his heart or his brain.
The attackers have the advantage of having ambushed a space full of helpless people. That advantage reverses when you arm yourself and fire back. For at least a few confusing seconds they won't have a clue what you are up to.
And finally, don't waste ammo. Every shot should be carefully aimed to stop the attack. If two shots to center-of-mass don't stop the attacker, switch to head shots. If one of two attackers is firing in your direction and the other isn't, aim for the one who threatens you most.
For my advice to be worthwhile, you must be at least as good a shot as your attacker. They probably aren't aiming at all; just pointing. They might get lucky and hit you before you hit them. But that is not the way to bet.
Finally, don't give up if you are hit. Half of the people hit in San Bernardino survived the attack. I don't know how many people were not wounded.
I’m leaning your way. Up close and personal a Mossberg 500 tactical would have ruined those two scum bag muslims in a heartbeat. From across the street an AR or Ak would have done the job and if no other weapon was handy a Springfield Armory .40 would have probably gotten the job done.
