Donald Trump's bile is a healing balm for spurned Americans
Financial Times ^ | December 27, 2015 | Frank Luntz

Posted on 12/28/2015 10:35:10 AM PST by EveningStar

Those who support him now will support him next November, writes Frank Luntz

Outraged by what Donald Trump says? You are not alone. No high-polling presidential candidate in the modern era has so intrepidly drawn the ire of so many within the American electorate. And there remains no end in sight.

Yet in rendering one voting bloc utterly apoplectic, he has appealed viscerally to another. The balance of middle ground politics is not, shall we say, Mr Trump's bailiwick. But America is no longer a middle ground country. We are already scared by our division -- and it is getting worse.

The simple truth is, the more provocative his language, the deeper and more passionate his support. He is no dummy; there is a method to his proverbial madness. Mr Trump says -- to the growing legions who will listen -- what tens of millions of Americans are already thinking. Respect or revile him, the man has hit a vein.

Jane,

Did you note that I asked a question rather than making a statement? I hoped that I would get clarifying information.

I have since decided that I can support Cruz but is wife’s situation still worries me. she is on PAID leave fom Goldman Sachs. I don’t want a President under the thumb of a major Wall Street bank.

I am neither a liberal nor a plant. However, I am glad you checked on my posts.

Obama and Hillary are cut from the same cloth. Both are progressives from the school of Saul Alinsky. A pox (or worse) on both of their plans.

They are out for personal power. So are Putin and Trump. They are cashing in on the anger of the people but not actually supporting their values.

Trump is for lower wages. He is for big business in trade deals. He is for eminent domain. He never talks about the constitution. He never talks about limited government. He talks about what HE WILL DO. Sorry, the US government is based on separation of powers. A president who claims that HE can solve the problem sounds like Obama with his phone and pen (shudder).

HOW DO ANY OF YOU KNOW HE CAN BUILD THE WALL AND NO ONE ELSE CAN ???

Can you imagine Ronald Reagan expressing Trump’s attitudes? No, of course you can’t.

Probably not the only one but most who are concerned are Trump supporters fearful of competition.

Get government back in the business of providing for public convenience (transportation, public works) and safety (police and firefighters), and make sure it does so efficiently.

These are mostly the responsibilities of the states and of local governments, not the Federal government.

We already have WAY too many federal police departments.

Oh no, not the lesser of 2 dictators thing again.
When someone attacks Donald Trump, he goes after them twice as hard.
Think about that.
If he became president, and had someone monitor a sight like FR, what would stop him from sending the IRS after you, if you wrote something he didn’t like.
Who would stop him, it what “winners” do.
He’s said in the debate he would be willing to shut down parts of the internet, which parts?
Only the parts he doesn’t like, I guess.
After all, he would just be the lesser of Mao vs. Putin, right?
No more Cult of Personality candidates.
No more Obamas, no Trumps.
No dictators.

You are a total nincompoop if you don’t see or understand that times have changed. Political correctness is destroying this country and most people aren’t listening any more to the continued lies and deceit shoveled out daily by the politicos and the press. In addition, all the name calling is allowed on the left side and increased in volume by the RINOs. Those on the right are supposed to play fair when they have had their heads beaten in by the continual harangue on the left. I remember now what I was taught as a youngster. FIGHT FIRE WITH FIRE. It appears Trump has it about right, so take your thin skinned Political Correctness and Niceness, and s###e it.

OK, find me some quotes from Trump on limited government.
I challenge you!
Trump is the American Putin.

In the spirit of the season and of Freeper helping to enlighten Freeper I accept your challenge

Here is one (and a good one at that):

Trump Says He Will Cut The EPA As Prez: 'We'll Be Fine With The Environment'

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/donald-trump-epa-dept-of-education

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Sunday that he would cut government agencies if he were elected President.

Among them? The Department of Education and the Environmental Protection Agency, Trump told "Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace.

"Would you cut serve -- would you cut departments?" Wallace asked Trump.

"No, I"m not cutting services, but I'm cutting spending. But I may cut Department of Education. I believe Common Core is a very bad thing," Trump said. "I believe that we should be - you know, educating our children from Iowa, from New Hampshire, from South Carolina, from California, from New York. I think that it should be local education."

"So the Department of Education is one," he continued. "Environmental Protection, what they do is a disgrace. Every week they come out with new regulations. They're making it impossible -"

Wallace interjected, "Who's going to protect the environment?"

"They - we'll be fine with the environment," Trump replied. "We can leave a little bit, but you can't destroy businesses."

News Flash: America is already rotting and it is coming from DC -- and not just from the Democrats.

I agree. Trump's penchant for unitary executive power is just *more* rot.

I am ashamed of what Ryan and the GOP did to us in the latest continuing resolution.

Can you imagine Ronald Reagan expressing Trump’s attitudes?

If Reagan had expressed Trump's attitude, he wouldn't have given amnesty to millions of illegals with the subsequent influx of even more.

Hmmm, just imagine that.

HOW DO ANY OF YOU KNOW HE CAN BUILD THE WALL AND NO ONE ELSE CAN ???
............................................................

BECAUSE ALL the promises to build a wall and secure the border have been just so many worthless words, since Reagan was promised the wall if he would sign the amnesty bill. He did, but THEY didn’t.

We’re supposed to believe the political whores again? It will take an OUTSIDER to build the wall, and I’ll put my faith in Trump simply because HE SAID HE WOULD BUILD A WALL! and make Mexico pay for it!

WHERE in the quote from Trump’s book do you find the word “FEDERAL?” Yet you insert the word Federal in your ill conceived argument.

One thing that Luntz used to do exceptionally well was get a collection of clueless people from all sections of society. They had little in common other than the fact that they were more or less equally clueless.

He's not even very good at doing that anymore. Probably he lost his talent for that by spending too much time inside the media bubble.
