Unbelievable – Ted Cruz Campaign Sends Out Personal “Shaming Letters” To Iowa Voters…
conservativetreehouse ^ | 1/30/2016 | sundance

Posted on 01/29/2016 10:28:45 PM PST by 20yearsofinternet

The personalized letters target individual Iowa voters and identifies them as having failed to vote in prior elections. They are admonished and then encouraged to vote this year. In addition the letters identify the neighbors of the voter, and provides their voting history.

The text reads:

"You are receiving this election notice because of low expected voter turnout in your area. Your individual voting history as well as your neighbors' are public record. Their scores are published below, and many of them will see your score as well. CAUCUS ON MONDAY TO IMPROVE YOUR SCORE and please encourage your neighbors to caucus as well. A follow-up notice may be issued following Monday's caucuses".

In an effort to shame the recipient, the notice also informs the targeted voter their neighbors have also been notified of the recipients poor voting record.

OK, I guess you missed what I was asking about.

What bill did he get passed in the Senate by his vote.

Not such a good record is it? For your whole list two made it into law.

This second one seems ok but wouldn't it be better to allow a spy or terrorist to come into the country so that he could be apprehended at the gate, arrested, interrogated then punished?

Looks like Teddy has been just Cruzing on the job.

***Sorry, Charlie, but people should be ashamed if they’re not voting.***

You have a right to vote not an obligation. You may disagree, I may disagree, but we do still have a few freedoms left.

Cruz “shaming” people to vote for him is akin to what Black leaders do to Black people if they vote anything other than Democrat. It was stupid to do, and he’s done.

You should stop digging that hole.

US marine who is fighting overseas and had his child overseas, be denied the right for that child to be President? Should an ambassador living abroad suffer the same fate?

Of course not, they were both doing official duty for the United States. The problem is El Señor Cruz was not.

Answer me this: if he is ineligible, why is his name being certified by the secretary of states of all the states his name is appearing on? Don’t you think THEY would do a little bit of vetting on the issue...?

I am not aware that he has been up to this point and I am also not aware that any official challenge has been files or decided in every state.

I am not making this up out of whole cloth. Follow this link:

Ted Cruz is not eligible to be president

This short excerpt explains your mistake about the the naturalization act of 1790.

Third, Katyal and Clement put much weight on the first U.S. naturalization statute, enacted in 1790. Because it contains the phrase "natural born," they infer that such citizens must include children born abroad to American parents. The first Congress, however, had no such intent. The debates on the matter reveal that the congressmen were aware that such children were not citizens and had to be naturalized; hence, Congress enacted a statute to provide for them. Moreover, that statute did not say the children were natural born, only that they should "be considered as" such. Finally, as soon as Madison, then a member of Congress, was assigned to redraft the statute in 1795, he deleted the phrase "natural born," and it has never reappeared in a naturalization statute.

Hope this helps. I only point this out because you can have no hope of personally attempting to convince every American citizen of your argument. My passion all my life was US Presidents. I even know arcane facts, like Grover Cleveland's wife who he married in the White House was named Frances Folsom. You have zero hope of convincing me and I am not the only one.

Sorry, I disagree. The country is being delivered to hell in a handbasket by liberal, urban, big city, big government elites. If you don’t vote, you are being Switzerland, you’re staying neutral in a war. That is morally wrong. It’s MORE morally wrong to vote for a Democrat, but being neutral doesn’t get you any honor.

***Cruz has at least 30% more official endorsements from politicians than public figures than Trump last I checked.***

So more Politicians like Cruz over Trump and that’s supposed to help him? Hahaha have you lost it?

Ok, so more Politicians (pftt) like Cruz. How many people, aka voters, show up to see Trump vs to see Cruz?

You need a different narrative to make “your guy” more attractive to voters.

Agreeing with shaming voters and giving us his glowing reviews from other Politicians ain’t making it.

I would also like for you to think about the scenario I have proposed.
Imagine a Palestinian living in Syria travels to the USA and is given Asylum. Then he marries an American and gets a job in the petroleum industry, then is sent to Jordan. While there he applies to Jordan and he and his wife become Jordanian citizens. The have a son while living in their new country. As the son's mother was an American citizen, when the boy turns 16 she has his birth registered with the US Consulate as a citizen. The family travels back to live in America and eventually their son decides to run for the US Presidency. To avoid "complications", when he starts his campaign he officially renounces his Jordanian Citizenship.
Now, Imagine Cruz wins the nomination and becomes President. His path to the Presidency will become the unquestioned precedent going forward.

No matter how much you love Ted Cruz, are you willing to see what I described above come to pass? Some time in the future the Liberals or the Islamists will search out a candidate that fits the "Cruz path" and then we really will have no hope left.

Yeah Lil Flower, like I have been hanging on pins and needles wondering when State Senator Yuky-Yuky will endorse the Cruz. I won;t be able to make up my mind on who to vote for unless the county supervisor from Booboo County lets me know who HE is endorsing. Blah, blah, blah...

FYI
Regarding Cruz and those mailers that the media has already seized upon...

This is what happens when you challenge the ethanol lobby.
The Cruz camp modeled the mailer in question on the Iowa GOP’s own 2014 mailer. Get-out-the-vote efforts aren’t always easy and sometimes reaching certain people who need to be reached is hard, especially in close races. Iowa’s Secretary of State (and Trump and ethanol mandate-supporter) Paul Pate attacked Cruz over it. Matt Schultz, former Iowa Secretary of State and Cruz’s Iowa State Chairman hit back at Pate, saying that such mailers designed specifically for people who don’t often vote are “routine”. (It’s all based on “The Victory Lab”, a book written in 2013 about the psychology of voting. Sometimes aggressive methods based on publicly available information move people. It doesn’t go out to everyone, it goes out to a certain small, subset of people who do not vote.
It works. Instead of “rock the vote”, it’s “nudge the vote”.)

The Iowa Republican establishment has a problem with Cruz doing it because of....ethanol. Cruz opposes the mandates and he stood on stage this past Thursday, looked the establishment ethanol lobby in square in the eye, and said “no more mandates”. He’s been saying it all primary cycle. They hate him for this. The Governor of Iowa, Terry Branstad condemns Cruz because of it. Branstad’s son is the head of an ethanol lobbyist group that has been stalking Cruz all over Iowa protesting him over it. They even thought about dressing as giant corn cobs and running after him. The reason that this mailer nontroversy wasn’t a story back in 2014 when the Iowa Republican establishment did it is because this time around they’re dealing with a candidate who has consistently said he will end their ethanol subsidies and they’re terrified of him so he must be defeated. They’ll partner with Trump (who supported an increase in the ethanol mandate) to do it, too.

Just like in the “Godfather”, you don’t ever take sides against the ethanol lobby.

PS: Joni Ernst did the same with her GOTV mailers.

I appreciate the information. Happily, I am in a primary state.

What exactly is the fuss then, if the “neighbors” might not even be known by those who received the mailer?

You really confuse me by linking to things that have been discussed ad nauseam six months ago. It makes me think you really are nineteen.

Let me make it clear to you, I am not voting for Ted Cruz. Trump is the only candidate that will win and will make America Great by stopping illegal immigration and building the wall, stopping the Islamist threat to our sovereignty, correcting our Trade Imbalance, deporting illegals, strengthening our Military and taking care of our Veterans, protecting our Second Amendment, Simplifying the tax code, bringing jobs back to America, and ending Obamacare and replacing it with workable insurance coverage from the private sector.

Trump has built his business by promising to do things and following through on his promises. Trump will make America Great again!

Jedi: :You seem to be the only poster so far who gets the damning revelation that these mailers tell, i.e. that the reason we got Obama in 2012 was that too many conservatives and other sane people sat out the election.

I know that Romney was a weak sister but compared to Obama, he was a Sampson.

If you vote, and our enemies do in sufficient numbers, they win, just as they did in 2012.

Lesson learned: Get off your lazy asses, register and vote as if your life and your country depend on it, because this time they due, and we may never get a another chance to undo what the Marxist in Chief has done to us.

A key word got dropped from my comment above.

It should read as:
IF YOU DON”T VOTE, and our enemies do in sufficient numbers, they win, just as they did in 2012!

Since one of the child’s parents is a US citizen, yes, I’m fine with it.

As the law is written, they are citizens.

If I were living abroad and had a child, I would want my child to be eligible to serve. Just because the country I’m living in bestows the gift of their citizenship on them as well does not mean my child’s loyalties will be to that country. Particularly when we move back to the states a short time after they are born.

The intent of the founding fathers was very clear: flat out immigrants would have divided loyalties. My great grandfather/mother were immigrants from Eastern Europe in the early 1900s. They came to this country because of its freedoms. But they came as teenagers. They would have had divided loyalties.

Someone born a citizen would not. Their birthright citizenry satisfies the natural born clause. To argue otherwise is factually incorrect. There is no precedent, judicial ruling, or US law which states otherwise. You’re on the losing end of this argument. I’m sorry, but you just are.

So instead, let’s talk about how utterly unacceptable Donald Trump is as a candidate. Someone who stands for nothing but himself, who has nothing at his core to keep him grounded other than the love of himself.

Is that someone you want leading our country? Someone who has the record of some of even the most worst liberal democrats, with his hands in the pants of countless establishment characters with donations to back that up?

The man is corrupt and has zero business running for President, let alone the GOP nomination.

Fail, this does not prove that Cruz is eligible to be potus, and the dems will use it against him. For this reason, he is dangerous, and now he is being sued. What is Cruz hiding? He goes around with his mother’s birth certificate and his Canadian bc? I don’t trust him. How can he expect anyone to belive he didn’t know his Canadian bc was still valid? Why did he wait so long to renounce ? I do not want a lawyer as potus, or a senator as potus. He is not an effective senator, and I don’t trust lawyers.

The last two lines display your obvious bias on this issue.

That’s fine by the way, not wanting a lawyer or Senator as President is a perfectly valid opinion/argument. Quite unlike this made up garbage concerning the Senator’s birth.

Along those same lines, I don’t want a narcissist liberal as my President.

To each is own I guess...
