Unbelievable – Ted Cruz Campaign Sends Out Personal “Shaming Letters” To Iowa Voters…
conservativetreehouse ^ | 1/30/2016 | sundance

Posted on 01/29/2016 10:28:45 PM PST by 20yearsofinternet

The personalized letters target individual Iowa voters and identifies them as having failed to vote in prior elections. They are admonished and then encouraged to vote this year. In addition the letters identify the neighbors of the voter, and provides their voting history.

The text reads:

"You are receiving this election notice because of low expected voter turnout in your area. Your individual voting history as well as your neighbors' are public record. Their scores are published below, and many of them will see your score as well. CAUCUS ON MONDAY TO IMPROVE YOUR SCORE and please encourage your neighbors to caucus as well. A follow-up notice may be issued following Monday's caucuses".

In an effort to shame the recipient, the notice also informs the targeted voter their neighbors have also been notified of the recipients poor voting record.

The barman says, “We don’t serve time travelers in here.”

A time traveler walks into a bar.

Looks like something Glenn Beck would do. Cruz went over the dark side with Glenn.

Now we wait for the dog that didn’t bark. Is Trump sleeping in this morning? Where are the 7 staffers cut loose from Ted’s campaign? Looking for a job?

>>So if sending you mail is “stalking,” what do you consider it when they call you and knock on your door?

I have a sign displayed on the window next to my front door.
It says “Going door to door? Please go away.”

For some reason, my husband wouldn’t let me post the sign I read elsewhere that said “Trespassers will be killed and eaten”. (just a little humor here) : )

This type of tactic might work on 35 year old Democrats who live in their mother’s basement and smoke pot all day. They are used to be shamed into cleaning their room, taking out the garbage, taking a shower, brushing their teeth, not being late to their job at 7-11, etc. etc. etc... A feisty Iowa Republican who didn’t have the time to brave a snow storm to go bicker with other feisty Iowa Republicans probably would not appreciate it as much. To me it seems like the work of a campaign run by someone who is socially awkward and not the most popular kid on the block.

UPDATE 5:00am: It looks like Howie might have found the culprit within the Ted Cruz campaign. A guy named Christopher Larimer works for Ted Cruz, and previously put a stunt like this together in Alaska. As outlined in a 2014 PBS article:
http://www.pbs.org/newshour/rundown/will-shame-drive-alaskan-voters-polls/

It included the addressee’s voting history as well as those of their neighbors, and contained something of a threat by promising a follow-up letter to show the results of the upcoming election. Larimer says they got complaints, but the technique worked quite well. (read more)

Your only problem is you can't come back to any of the facts that people put on here about Cruz because they are the truth...all you can come back with is ‘snarly’ remarks thinking that makes you feel ‘important’ when in fact, it makes you and your candidate really look stupid....

From what I'm seeing, he doesn't need any help, he and Beck are really doing a great job of it and doesn't need your help and now we know how low a ‘politician’ can be....but then you already knew that or you wouldn't be ‘snarling’ would you?

This is bad for a person like Ted because he claims he is the guy against NSA mass data collection and he is pro privacy.

Good point, I was thinking the same thing.

Possibly a scam, since the GOPe doesn’t want Cruz or Trump.

Would be interesting to hear from Cruz to see if he supported this tactic or even knew about it.

The GOPe in my book, is just as bad a the leftist.

Beck is behind this no doubt. Cruz hitching his wagon to Beck’s horse is just asking to go over a cliff.

“Cruz is not involved in personally approving every mailer that goes out and most likely had not seen this one before it went out.”

If that’s the case, then Cruz has failed to exercise even a smidgen of the requisite oversight of his campaign, which is clearly out of control with a extremely bad tactic such as this mailing. If Cruz can’t manage his campaign, then how can he manage the U.S. government? If Cruz WAS aware of this mailing then his judgement must be called into question rather than his management skills.

Voter Shaming is an old leftist tradition!

‘Vote-Shaming’: An Effective Leftist Strategy
American Thinker ^
Posted on 1/30/2016, 8:18:10 AM by Thapsus

FYI: BACKGROUND ON “VOTER-SHAMING”/”VOTER REPORT CARDS”

From the American Thinker: ‘Vote-Shaming’: An Effective Leftist Strategy

http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2014/10/voteshaming_an_effective_leftist_strategy.html

“While campaigns nationwide are hysterically ramping up their ‘get out the vote’ (GOTV) efforts, Democrats are banking on a strategy that worked for them in 2012, hoping it will give them an edge and allow them to eke out some victories.” [....] “This kind of tactic could never work on conservative, independent, Republican, or Libertarian voters. Our DNA does not include the sheeple gene, and we are just not cut from the groupthink cloth. “

From Rush Limbaugh: New Democrat Tactic: “Voter Shaming”

http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2014/10/29/new_democrat_tactic_voter_shaming

“...they’ve got Democrat Party election officials sending them letters telling them they’re being watched and telling them that they know whether these people have voted or not and that they will know whether they vote this time or not and that their neighbors will know whether they’ve voted or not, and they will know whether the neighbors know. So I’m not sure how this is gonna play out. But once again, it’s another sign of desperation on the Democrat Party side about the election and vote turnout and all of these things that are tied into it.”

From the Wall Street Journal:Democrats “Shame” Voters With Mailers

http://www.wsj.com/articles/democrats-shame-voters-with-mailers-1414803485

“Democratic Party postcards and letters sent to more than 800,000 New Yorkers this week gave them grades based on how often they had voted and told them their voting records in 2014 would be watched. “

From a Slate article on the MoveOn.org tactic: The “Voter Report Card” MoveOn Hopes Will Shame Slackers

http://www.slate.com/blogs/victory_lab/2012/10/31/moveon_can_its_voter_report_card_shame_slackers_into_turning_out.html

“MoveOn is mailing 12 million registrants in battleground states a ‘Voter Report Card’ scoring their participation in their past five elections and comparing it to the neighborhood average...”
