President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama paid less than two minutes of respect to the late Antonin Scalia while the Justice lies in repose at the Supreme Court.
Friday, the Obamas spent approximately 35 seconds in front of the casket and then approximately 67 seconds in front of the portrait of Scalia. (RELATED: Obama Won’t Attend Scalia’s Funeral)
The Obamas will not be attending Scalia’s funeral on Saturday. Vice President Joe Biden and his wife Jill will be attending.
According to the White House pool report, Obama spent approximately 15 minutes in another room “meeting with others.â€
Everyone is complaining that Obama didn’t go. I’m looking at it a different way - who really wanted him there? Would the Scalia family want the distraction? If he had gone would all the conversations around here be about how big a hypocrite he was for being there? Better that Obama was being Obama and not going anywhere where he wasn’t the center of attention than to go and detract from Justice Scalia’s memorial.

Like I said someone should research this and see what past presidents have done in similar circumstances.
It was disrespectful not to go, but because Obama is being disrespectful of the late Justice, it is not sad that he did not go.

Cruz was a former Supreme Court clerk. Probably the reason he was invited to attend.

Obama has, by not going, set a precedent: if by some chance Justice Ginsburg goes to the great beyond within the next 11 months, Obama would be unable to attend her funeral without demonstrating great hypocrisy. That has not stopped him in the past, but it would make the hypocrisy more evident to the LIVs.
You are WRONG, sir or madam. Ted Cruz attended the funeral.
I really hate it when a loudmouthed bombast like T.Rump criticizes someone for not doing something that he himself is not doing. I guess he wants to show that he is no more a Christian that Obama is.
