I was told yesterday that Trump is a liberal Democrat.

My reply:

Build the wall.
Enforce the law.
Deport them all.
End sanctuary cities.
End anchor babies.
Slap a moratorium on muslim immigration.
Cut the taxes.
Cut the spending.
Cut the regulations.
Cut the government.
Cut the debt.
Cut the EPA.
Repeal ObamaCare.
Get the feds out and allow health insurance to be sold over state lines.
Send education back to states.
Get a handle on trade.
Make trade deals in our own best interests.
Bring back capital.
Bring back manufacturing.
Bring back jobs.
Strengthen the economy.
Defend the second amendment.
Defend religious freedom.
Appoint constitutional conservative judges.
Rebuild our military.
Bomb the shit out of ISIS (and take their oil).

End political correctness.
Take the GOP head-on.
Take the media head-on.
Take the liberals head-on.
And win, baby, win.

All of the above on a shoestring budget compared to most of the 16 competitors he’s defeated (after they spent 100's of millions of donor bucks).

No PACs.
No big donors.
No party support.

What’s democrat about any of the above?
What’s not conservative?
What’s not to like?

And I’ll add a few more:

Redo the horrid Iran deal.
Take a serious look at NATO.
Require our allies to pay more for their defense.

Rebuild the Reagan Coalition and attract blue collar workers by making America first again on manufacturing, trade, secure borders, economy and jobs, jobs, jobs!

Make America Great Again!

If we honestly believed a liberal Democrat would do that, we would put vise grips on our nose and vote for that liberal Democrat.

Right now, we need a leader who will take charge and accomplish what needs to be done. I will take a proven executive who puts competent people in the right positions. Now is not the time for a junior senator with zero executive experience whose only claim to "conservative fame" is that he says the things that we want to hear when being interviewed.

I am not saying that he is not a conservative. I am saying that he is a non-accomplished conservative. We don't have the luxury or time to take Mark Levin, Glen Beck, and other Ivy League geniuses word for how great of a job Cruz would do.

Having served only three years in the Senate should not give anyone confidence. Look at the last junior senator that was elected.

Jim,
I could go through your list of Trump positions and tell you that most of them will never happen. Some because they are just part of a sales scheme. Others cannot happen because they are patently unconstitutional (e.g. Banning Muslim immigrants). But mainly, I just don't find Trump to be credible or believable based on his past statements and actions.

But the item I take most exception to from your list is your assertion that the Donald will defend religious freedom. He will not. Trump has already stated he will side with the LGBT lobby on marriage, on religious objections to perform services and on transgender bathrooms in schools.

And if the Donald takes those stands as an individual or as a position in his administration, what makes you think he wouldn't desire those same beliefs from any judicial appointee?

I continue to find your extreme support of Trump - a person that many have believed to be an amoral and dishonest hustler caricature for the past 30 years - to be extremely naive. If Trump were running against an actual GOPe insider like McCain or Romney, perhaps I could understand your fascination.

But Trump is running against Ted Cruz, the most conservative Republican presidential candidate since Ronald Reagan. Cruz defeated a GOPe candidate to reach the Senate, lived up to his campaign promises while in the Senate, been a thorn in the side of Mitch McConnell and opposed Obama at every turn.

I don't fault you for wanting what the Donald is promising, much of it is attractive to me. But I could post a similar list of Cruz positions - minus Trump's unconstitutional ones, of course. The major difference between them is that Cruz's positions are authentic and consistent with his words, his work, his political affiliations and actions for the past 30 years.

I realize it makes it easier for you to think I hate Trump, but the truth is I don’t. I think I understand him better than you do.

It’s called greasing the palm.....

Charles and David Koch, Sheldon Adelson and Charles Shwabb don’t give to leading liberal politicians to name a few.

I am aware of illegal Polish workers hired by a construction contractor years ago. The foreign workers that he has at his resorts (Mar-a-lago etc) are there on H2B visas. Anybody with a seasonal/resort business will tell you many times this is absolutely necessary. And a business could not survive without them. Unfortunately suitable American workers are hard to find. They don’t want to work weekends. For some reason they seem to think cleaning rooms is below them. Many cannot pass the background or drug test. And who wants a waitress with blue hair, face piercings and a neck tattoo.

You must be kidding with this right? Who wants to be given room and board and work in an exclusive Palm Beach club during the winter? Ever try running a few adds in Alaska, Minnesota or the Dakotas? Trump is willing to fly people from Romania, Bulgaria and other places in Europe, provide a place for them to live and pay them? And you honestly think Americans wouldn’t do those jobs?

Don’t sugarcoat it, he wants cheap labor. That’s why he’s doing it. He wants to line his pockets with more profits and the law allows it, so he’s taking advantage of it. Don’t pretend otherwise. Why not set the example and help Americans with a good job, learn a new skill, develop contacts with the rich and famous? He already has billions.

I don’t have the motivation to respond to the rest, maybe tomorrow.

Cruz's track record during this screams rather loudly that he's not a man who sticks up for other people Consatutional rights which in my book makes him an opportunist with a Conservative front.

I'm truly disturbed at the lack of critical thinking on Free Republic in regards to Donald Trump.

George Will, is that you?

I'm sorry but there are dozens of billionaires who have done those things but aren't qualified to be President.

I'm sorry, but there are dozens of junior senators who have not done things and aren't qualified to be president.

I have been on this forum for over a decade.

The idea that we cannot criticized someone for their lack of conservative convictions is fairly alien to my experiences here.

why cannot we not point out how

1. Trump became a Republican unexpectedly about six months ago.
2. He says health care is a government responsibility.
3. He has said [I know he writes differently on his website] he will raise taxes.
4. He says education is one of three primary duties of government
5. He says Planned Parenthood is a fine organization
6. He slanders conservative candidates like Cruz and Carson

Trump should be ok like armies of Republican candidates who have been criticized at Free Republic for not being sufficiently conservative.

I get a weird vibe I have never had in any other primary process at FR that we must ALL agree to support Trump.

There is no way I am supporting his nomination.

I will have to think hard about voting for him in November if he gets the nomination.

I will not ever vote for Hillary. But again, I remember multiple elections where Freepers said they would not vote for the nominee.

I think raising the conservative values of Free Republic as a standard will cause Trump to be as conservative as possible regardless of the outcome.

I am not at all persuaded that Cruz is a bad person or that he is not a great conservative.

Cruz has a positive conservative track record

Trump has promises and a deep history of personally attacking conservatives like Cruz and Carson.
_________________________________________

Oh really? Was Cruz being “conservative” when he did the following:

1) Supported an increase of H1B Visas

2) Voted for the disastrous Iran Corker Bill

3) Worked with Paul Ryan to pass TPA (Think TPP)

4) Went to the southern border with Glenn Beck to pass out Teddy Bears and soccer balls to illegals

5) Acting like a lying sleaze ball in Iowa (e.g. lying about Carson leaving the primary, and sending out those blackmailing mailers to voters

These are things that Mr. Haney did as a sitting U.S. Senator. Trump never did these things. Interesting Cruzbots like you and Rush Limbaugh never want to address these items.
