Data transmitted from a doomed EgyptAir flight minutes before it fell off radar screens suggests a fire had broken out on board the plane, according to an aviation industry website.
AvHerald.com is reporting that data transmissions from EgyptAir Flight 804 to ground stations show smoke was detected in a bathroom near the cockpit.
The report includes the plane-to-ground messages sent in the final minutes of the flight:
00:26Z 2600 SMOKE LAVATORY SMOKE
00:27Z 2600 AVIONICS SMOKE
00:28Z 561100 R FIXED WINDOW SENSOR
00:29Z 2200 AUTO FLT FCU 2 FAULT
00:29Z 2700 F/CTL SEC 3 FAULT
The information would suggest the possibility of smoke or a fire in close proximity to the electronics and equipment bay of the Airbus below the floor of the cockpit

“The lack of any radio call about the smoke makes me lean to the terrorism explanation still.”
I agree. A small explosive devise in the area of the front lavatory would to the trick.
I think you are right about lack of mayday call. Sounds like the perfect spot to start a fire.
What kind of smoke would be coming out of the bathroom otherwise?.....There was an article on here within the month about how well these 7th century turds have adapted to air travel. One of the scenaios showed a ditched plane that was burnt up. Seems Ahab the A-rab decided to light his Coleman in the aisle and make tea for everyone. A little turbulence and “MAYDAY! MAYDAY!”
I saw that report on Fox, and immediately thought of Flight 800 - the old “wiring” excuse.
I hope it wasn’t terrorism, but trust in government and media, once lost, is almost impossible to regain. I no longer trust “them” to give us anything but the story they want to sell to keep the sheep calm.
Too many have too much to lose if this was terrorism, and it is so easy to confabulate and misdirect to alleviate fear from the flying public. Sort of like Baghdad Bob - “nothing to see here”, ?don’t believe your lying eyes”.
I still hope it wasn’t terrorism, but nothing the media says will convince me of that.
Would cell phones work at that altitude? Seems if so someone would have made a call like they did on the hijacked flts on 9/11
where on the plane is the “R fixed window sensor” ? directional-to the right or to the rear? or row identified?
God knows what the terrorists eat.
Also, this COULD HAVE been a low yield explosive that tore a hole in the side of the aircraft which would give enough time for an error code to be transmitted. This could have been a bomb, not JUST a ‘mechanical fire’.
^^^^^ This. All the smoke alerts only 3 seconds apart and then no mayday. It happened awfully fast for it to be mechanical in nature.
It was TERRORISM.
Any form of denial is futile.
There would be no way to know if all on board perished. Perhaps one of the pilots was involved and not the other and he was doing as you suggest.

I wonder if this plane was converted to one of those new fangled lithium battery packs that tend to overheat and catch fire on the trip 7.

Cell phones want work at altitude. And they went from 37,000 feet to 15,000 feet extremely quickly which no-one would be in a mind state to make a call.
I’m thinking terrorism. Explosion and they dropped out of the sky.
Sad
“The 360 maneuver shows a pilot or the pilots made an attempt to exit the flight lane to recover the aircraft without jeopardizing other flights.”
No necessarily. Airbus is total fly-by-wire and a fire that burns lines that are associated with the flight controls, the jet may have been making un-commanded turns and such.
Separation at same altitude and hemispheric heading is based on time. A change in altitude is where the danger resides.
Lavatories are where the so called Chechen “snukes” were set off.
We also know from the one ACARS "FCU" message that the Flight Control Units were involved. This smells like terrorism to me.
Most systems don’t fail catastrophically.
Instead, their performance is degraded, and adjacent systems may become taxed or effected.
Over a period of time, with improper control, the systems themselves will tend to tear themselves up or slowly fail.
This brings up a critical vulnerability throughout the western world infrastructure and inside the DoD.
We have become so paranoid on regulatory protocol, all to obey the rules so we are protected, we have now set up perfect targets in asymmetric warfare. The enemy, where they have already infiltrated our society, will remain vigilant to spot weakness. They will identify how incredibly ineffective our security protocols are from identifying the threats and how they irreversibly hinder our progress.
By targeting control systems, they can apply small amounts of disparately controlled force, to cause the systems to fail on their own.
We can also see where the real threats might be organized, by those who build their empires to control the safeguarding of our control systems. Over the past 5 years, there has been a shift among those of marginal fidelity towards seeking to control security and control system access.
IMHO, the enemies, both foreign and domestic, have been reorienting themselves towards control systems.
Not a good time for Win10.
What?
Time to check the technical maintenance logs for the equipment room.
Thank you... That’s who it was I saw.
