RECALL MCCAIN CAMPAIGN ENDS
Recall John McCain Committee ^ | September 17, 2001 | Marcia Regan

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE RECALL JOHN MCCAIN COMMITTEE

SEPTEMBER 17, 2001

PHOENIX - This is a time when Americans must rally behind all their leaders, set differences aside, and unite against the forces of evil that have perpetrated and supported the savage attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001. These deplorable acts of war committed against the United States have caused Americans to reassess their priorities and recognize once again that those who live in freedom must also be called upon to defend freedom.

This committee's purpose was to counter legislative threats to the constitutional freedoms guaranteed to all Americans. It is now apparent that there is a more immediate external threat to the freedoms we cherish. This country is at war, and as President Bush has stated, it is a very different kind of war. It is a war against enemies who hide themselves, but we will use every resource to seek them out for retribution. This is a war against enemies who covertly plan their despicable acts for years and we must be prepared for a long and difficult fight to defeat them. This is a war against enemies who have a fanatical belief in their cause, but they will soon learn they have severely underestimated our resolve for the cause of freedom.

With this moral cause in mind, our committee has decided that although our original goal was important, it is no longer in our state and nation’s best interest to remain divided over legislative differences. We began the recall effort to defend our constitutional rights. Now, our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is under clear and immediate danger from a well-organized international network of evil. Senator McCain has spoken out strongly against those who have attacked this nation and we pray that he will stress the need for us to set aside internal disagreements and demonstrate support for the Commander-in-Chief during this time of national crisis.

We are suspending our recall petition signing activities and will donate a significant amount of our remaining funds to The Arizona Republic Disaster Relief Fund (http://disasterrelief.azcentral.com). We strongly encourage others to do whatever they can to aid the victims of the September 11th attacks.

Our committee will maintain its database of volunteers in the event that Senator McCain's behavior warrants the continuation of the recall campaign. We will continue to maintain our website to monitor Senator McCain's public statements and legislation. The offices of The Recall John McCain Committee will remain open on a limited basis until September 28th to accept mail and phone messages After that time, we will continue to answer all inquiries via our internet website.

We are very grateful to all our recall volunteers, contributors and thousands upon thousands of petition signers for their efforts in the support of our constitution. While our nation is in turmoil, we will not continue the recall. Now is the time for us to focus our energies in demonstrating a united front against those who would threaten our national sovereignty.

Marcia Regan
Chairwoman

...that Faux News still hasn't yet linked Condit to the WTC terrorists or a Bin Laden cell operating in California or DC.

BTW, how about ending the hate campaign against Congressman Condit as well

As long as the sc*mbag is a Democrat, then its only about sex, right?

The guy's a creep, and youre a leftist apologist for bad behavior. Why dont you take a sabbatical, you hypocrite, you?

The right decision, but come back hard at re-elect time. Thanks for the hard work to Dittomom and all you others in AZ who worked so hard.

Because in the worst thing McCain is accused of is a loosely-sourced rape in his early PTD/Manchurian Candidate days, when he was *really, really* psycho -- there's a reasonable case that Condit is guilty of at least one, maybe two murders. And even in the shadow of all the death rained from the sky last Tuesday, the serial killer schtick is still pretty ghastly.

Hope this helps.

I imagine the recall effort was failing so badly (AZ is moving steadily to the left.) that the courageous organizers had to back away, and this was a perfect face-saving gesture. It's like when Parliament repealed the Stamp Act in 1766 and passed the Declaratory Act instead.

Very dignified. I feel it does make clear, however, that McCain will be watched carefully. Good.

>> Thanks for your hard work! Start gearing up for someone to run a primary against him next time he is up for re-election! <<

$50 says McCain retires in 2004 ("health problems") and all of this was in vain. I said from the start that Freepers would never convince the Arizona GOP to dump McCain. They should have went after Kolbe.

How about you end your hate campaign against President Bush? Didn't think so.
BTW, it's not a hate campaign against Condit, it's an effort to find the truth from a man who lies.

McCain still keeps calling America a Democracy. Isn't that some sort of violation of his oath? I mean, if he doesn't even know what America is supposed to be, how on earth can he succesfully work to ensure its safety?

"surrounding Condit's alleged "murder", that Faux News still hasn't yet linked Condit to the WTC terrorists or a Bin Laden cell operating in California or DC." Someone in "Intelligence" stood down. The external enemies couldn't have done squat without domestic enemies in powerful places.

A noble move by noble people.I only wish our left wing rivals were so honorable. Still, keep a candle in the window, and a watchful eye. We'll take care of the big stuff first, then we'll regroup. I hope that our domestic adversaries will follow suit, and not rise up against us with our backs turned to them. There may come the time when they would be glad to see an American citizen with a rifle. God bless America.

Just knowing that there are so many people in Arizona who are solid in their support of the Constitution, brings great joy to the heart of this New York boy.

I know how you feel. Recalling McLame and Abolishing the income tax, in favor of the FairTax, are just not on people's minds right now.

Right. Arizona is becoming liberal because of all the left coast trash moving in. It's a pity they gave up the recall effort. In a split Senate, McCain will do a lot of damage in the next three plus years, and by 2004 the demographics should assure his reelection.

Traitor McCain can change as often as the wind changes direction in Texas. Kick his Butt out!

Save your stupid hate for Bin Laden, TexASS...Sen. McCain had more patriotism in his malignant melanoma than you have under that 10-gallon cowboy hat you use for brains!
