Well said, swheats.

Sadly, they do live there, but they are brain/washed, that where they live is mine and your fault. The D's are better at using people. My business envolves finding people a place to live. Today, I found people a place to live in a much better area, lower crime rate, educational district that excells, and much better managed, maintained, and at a lower price. They decided to go back to the Hood, put their children in a high crime area, with an educational system that is totaly lacking. AND they paid more to live there. You can lead a horse to water, but you can not make him drink... Go Figure.. Hoo-ha!

It is clear, now, that so-called 'registered sex offenders' across the land cannot and should not be released into the general population. Instead of having to put up with them on the internet and wondering if the new house you bought will be near one of these sick perps, it is time they all be rounded up (don't have to be cruel about this, just firm) and isolate them from the general population in detention camps somewhere away from the citizens. Sure, it's prison. But let's put it to a referendum vote on the ballot in state after state, and then impeach liberal judges who would go on to find it unconstitutional
Enough of this crap.

alot of times in protected custody, because the correctional facilities know the outcome. Take a look at Jeffrey Dahmer. He met his maker. <sorry, I guess this is too morbid)..... :o)

Does not seem bizzare to me! There is no step not to turn to protect your loved ones-------police ain't gonna do it.

Hi Utah Girl, I hope in spite of Elizabeth's family she is still alive and can return home. I'm glad their daily press conferences are over. It became unbearable to watch.

I don't blame the police as much as I blame the lawyers. The police are just as frustrated as we are that these perverts go through the revolving door of prison. They work hard to get the perps behind bars, and then some lawyer puts them back out on the street. Or the perp gets parole for good behavior.

The sheriff stated clearly that they received a tip from someone. Did you stop to think that that someone might not want their identity revealed? Maybe a relative or even the girlfriend would not like their names on national television. They may be frightened of the rapist murderer themselves. The police and the FBI did a fantastic job.
I believe the point the sheriff was making at this news conference was to guide other police agencies about conducting an investigation.
Usually each law enforcement distict is very political about their own territory and do not share information.
In this case - they co-operated and all worked together which made everything come together quickly.

I'm with you. Right on, Freeper.

not one of these damned bureaucrats gave one ounce of credit to the traumatized 5 year old playmate of Samantha Please don't blame that on the "bureaucrats" but blame it on your SOURCE of news. On the live newscast I watched on FoxNews, the Sheriff (bureaucrat) definitely gave high praise to the little 5 year old witness!!!!!! He was ever appreciative to the witnesses/public and said it more than once.

I'm hoping that Elizabeth is still alive too, but there are some things worse than death. I feel so sorry for the Smart family, but I too am glad the daily press conferences are over. There have really been no breaks in the case, each time there seems to be one, it leads to a dead end.
If Avila did kill Samantha, I'm glad he was caught so quickly, that saved many more children's lives.

Because of these perverts out free, who can strike at any moment, WE in fact our prisoners of fear in our own homes and neighborhoods. Time has come turn that crap around!!

Read a few of John Douglas' books. He's one of the originators of the FBI profiler program and he has next to zero faith in rehabilitation for these guys.
To: Partisan Hack
Just wondering - is this pervert a legal citizen or resident alien of the United States?
To: 3catsanadog
Thanks for the recommendation of John Douglas' books.

See, why should YOU have to move your family...the creep should have to move. I tried to look up info on "offenders" in CA (although I guess this guy won't be on the list), anyway here's what you get:
To view the CD-ROM, you must:
be at least 18 years of age;
provide a California driver's license or California identification card;
sign a statement that you are not a registered sex offender; that you understand the purpose of the release of information is for the public to protect themselves and their children from sex offenders; and that it is illegal to use the information to harass, discriminate or commit a crime against any registrant;
you may be required to state a distinct purpose for viewing the CD-ROM, if required by local law enforcement.
All sheriff's department and every police department in jurisdictions with a population of 200,000 or more are required to make the CD-ROM available for public viewing. Many other police departments in smaller jurisdictions make the CD-ROM available for public viewing. To determine the nearest CD-ROM viewing station, contact your local sheriff's office (PDF 8 kb/3 pages) or police department (PDF 6 kb/1 page).
Reminder: The information under Megan's Law may not be used to harass or commit any crime against the offender. Public safety is best served when registered sex offenders are not concealing their location to avoid harassment.
Anyway, my point is, it should be readily available to the public with photos and descriptions of what crime was committed.

This case reminds me of the Marian Parker case, one of the most infamous crimes in the history of Los Angeles. In December, 1927, Marian Parker, the daughter of a Los Angeles banker, was abducted on her way to school. The kidnapper, a career criminal named Hickman, known as "the Fox," demanded a ransom which father paid, but Hickman killed her anyway.
Hickman was soon caught. He was tried and executed by hanging a few weeks later, in early 1928. In those days, they didn't fool around with endless appeals.
Country-western singer Vernon Dalhart chronicled the case in his song, The Murder of Marian Parker, and celebrated the triumph of justice in The Hanging of the Fox. Both tunes became hit records in 1928.
