A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day - Weekend....12-21,22-02

A Few of FR's Finest.....
......Every Day

FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.

Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!

And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

To Our FReeper FRiends: We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our spotlight on various FReepers. We thought we'd kick back on the weekends and simply review those who've been featured during the week. If you missed seeing them and want to say hello to them now, feel free to click on the link to that particular thread. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today and tomorrow, please feel free to do that also. One of us will always be around to see the welcome mat is still out, and maybe even put fresh flowers on the table. :)

     1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar.
     2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up.
     3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit.
     4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it.
     5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me an FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~ Mixer

Regarding snow in Austin, let's say I'm not breaking out the snow chains or anything. ;-)

Likewise here in Dallas. When they start predicting snow in North Texas, I claim to be from Missouri (I'll believe it when I see it).

That being said....it sure would be nice though.

Oh how beautiful, DaisyScarlett! I have to apologise, after inviting everyone over for milk and cookies I got caught up in a shopping trip and never made it back to FR. I'm going to have to get my "exits" down better :) BTW, I just received my copy of The Clinton Legacy Cookbook in the mail yesterday. It's just great - full of personality and some good cooking! I just love FReepers :)
Good afternoon from the Pacific Northwest!

The beauty of being retired is every day can be weekend/Christmas Day/New Year's Day.

That is awesome. I wish I could retire now and then when I turn 65 go back to work ; )

Enjoy your eternity away from work.

That tea set reminded me of the mini's I saw out at Wal-Mart the other day. They had Peter Rabbit on them.

I found this one for Mama Bear only HERE $6.95

Hi everyone! Just got in from an early Christmas celebration with my family. We had ham, potato salad, dressing, corn pudding, sweet potato casserole etc.....
I'm stuffed! It's good to be back home and I'm looking so forward to the Christmas Music thread tomorrow. Hope everyone won't be too busy getting ready for Christmas and will get the chance to enjoy the Christmas music.

Hooray!

Aqua, I love corn pudding in particular - might have to make some soon..:))
Hope your mother is feeling well and strong now.

A special Merry Christmas to you and yours, Spooky.

Corn pudding does sound good. Does anyone have a recipe? We are having ham on Christmas day and that would be something different to go with it.

I've never made corn pudding before but it was good with the ham and side dishes.
Lady do you have a recipe handy...I looked in my Pillsbury cookbook for one and I believe this is the first time that they didn't have the recipe I was looking for.

DOD IDENTIFIES ARMY SOLDIER KILLED IN AFGHANISTAN

The Department of Defense identified today the Army soldier killed in action in Afghanistan yesterday, Dec. 20, 2002. Sgt. Steven Checo, 22, of New York City, a member of the 504th Infantry, Fort Bragg, N.C., was killed when his unit came under attack from hostile forces.

"Sergeant Checo's death is a reminder to us of the sacrifices being made everyday by the dedicated men and women of our armed forces," said Assistant Secretary of Defense Victoria Clarke. "His death, as well as his dedicated service, strengthens our resolve in pursuit of terrorists, terrorist networks and those who harbor and support them," she said.
