LA HABRA -- Antiwar protesters burned and ripped up flags, flowers and patriotic signs at a Sept. 11 memorial that residents erected on a fence along Whittier Boulevard days after the terrorist attacks in 2001 and have maintained ever since.

However, although officers witnessed the vandalism Saturday afternoon, police did not arrest three people seen damaging the display because they were "exercising the same freedom of speech that the people who put up the flags were,' La Habra Police Capt. John Rees said Monday.

"For this to be vandalism, there had to be an ill-will intent,' he said.

Really? Whats directly across the street from the memorial? What is the name of the small market just east of the memorial? What is the name of the creek that runs through that area? What is the average price of homes within a quarter mile of that area? What is the name of the market directly across the street and just west of the memorial? I know, do you?

Uh, I noticed you didn't answer my questions. So it turns out you don't know that area very well, do you?

The silence is deafening. In any event, when you happen to drive by again, take note......

I don't live right there, I just drive through there all the time. I pass the 99 cents store, ALbertsons, Petco, Tommy's Burgers, then the Arby's, Stater Bros. and you can follow it all the way east where it dead ends in a residential area where you go left and find yourself in Brea.
To the north are more valuable homes and as you travel south towards La Habra Blvd/Leffingwell/Imperial it gets not so nice.

But you can't answer any of the specific questions I asked? So who knows this area better? You or me?

Of course the not so nice still sells near $300,000.

As you get towards the La Habra Farmers market next to the Chevron, it gets dangerous and even more so east of there.

You get up by the Big Lots at Harbor Blvd at night and you better have insurance.

I have no ill intent. I would just like to express my freedom of speech. Certainly we could hang them on that fence. Maybe alittle lighter fuild and a match and we can sing Cumbaya as they sizzle in the wind!

I don't live with you there, I just have been driving all through there for decades.

I do like the Farmers Market at Idaho though.
I've patronized the area a bit, but mostly drive through all the time on the way up to La Habra Heights.

Disgusting! Find those dirtbags and charge 'em with vandalism, which this obviously is, then re-stock the police department with more intelligent officers!

I hate to get stuck on this event, but it strikes a cord with me for several reasons.

The Local PD says it aint so, and they plan on airing their story, soon, they say. I am looking forward to seeing their official response to this event. It should be interesting to say the least.....

Yep, can't wait to hear that. Wonder how long it will take for them to come up with a "story".

I think the answers you seek about the cops comes from their assertition that this might be some sort of free speech. From quotes of people on this thread who talked to this Trace it sounds like cops are changing their story because they originally didn't want to be critsized for attacking peace protestors and now their waffling just looks foolish. (That's the real government)

I used to look for the conspiracy angle behind major events. A big thing that changed that was ironically something alot of true believers in the faith claim as a huge conspiracy; 9/11. If the FBI was flatfooted failing to put together the Massoui tidbits, and they are just like everything else in gov, not omnipowerful, but incompetent beaurocrates who make decisions by committee. Can they monitor everything? Obviously not. Cover up aliens? I'm sure they would have been more motivated to cover up any Hoover faults they could. They failed, he's a laughingstock. This "conspiring" is woefully illogical.

Believing in conspiracies becomes addictive, a crutch, something that will prevent you from beleiving in anything, even yourself. The only person that ends up being kept down back in reality is you. I have no hidden motives for telling you this, so I'll just tell you; Please give this up my friend.

COINTELPRP I suspect = Counter Intelligence Professionals

This charge is indicative that amongst the left are some very well orchestrated and organized efforts to generate antiwar sentiment consistent with perhaps "SOCIALIST" agendas. The acts appear to be rather local and grassroot level incidents. The report in the local paper touched just enough of a sensitive nerve throughout our society to spred like wildfire naturally. It got picked up by a handful of national and highly listened local radio shows that in turn fed the Blogs. The real interesting feature about your post is that there are liberals who conspire enough to believe they are being opposed by an organized effort,...their guilty conscience begins to show rather revealingly.
