Now, a new place for us to meet.
So an anti-Catholic site claims that Pope Francis elevated Mary to Godhead level, eh?
Nothing new to see here. Move along .
This is weirdly written. How can Mary be a second Trinity when there is only one of her?
Holy Mackerel!
But absolutely nothing in the article supports any of these wild claims. All the writer proves is that he is a jerk who needs to find a new line of work. Plucking chickens or something.
When you make Mary the Mother of God you actually give her precedence above God. I know very little about you and notching about your mother. However, I would bet anything that she came before you. Mother’s always precede their offspring. Mary was mother of the man Jesus. She is not mother of God. Utter blasphemy.
That would probably be news to Paul.
I personally did not find anything in those remarks that elevates her to the level of God.
“From a street preacher?”
Is that supposed to be some black mark?
I know one “street preacher” I respect more highly than anyone else... he walked the streets of Galilee and Judea, preaching a few thousand years ago.
Yeah, I noticed that, too.
“There are not a hundred people in America who hate the Catholic Church. There are millions of people who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church which is, of course, quite a different thing.” -Ven. Fulton J. Sheen, Archbishop
There are some people who would examine MSM pronouncements—even those which confirm their own beliefs—with a critical eye (as well they should)... but those same people will shut off their grey matter completely, and bellow their agreement (or retweet—whichever is most convenient) with some of the most laughably disprovable claims about the Catholic Church. Maybe we should coin another phrase: “Catholicism Derangement Syndrome”.
I'm not Catholic, but I agree.
He(should be capitalized) chose her.
“I think it’s fairly obvious that some people are so consumed with hatred for the Roman Catholic Church that they’ll believe anything, ....so long as it confirms their anti-Catholic beliefs. It is particularly shameful that such folks pretend to be Christians.”
Don’t forget those same people also lie - tell straight out falsehoods - right here on FR.
A little history lesson. There was NO pope prior to Nicea... or even after Nicea... Not until Gregory the great @ 650AD did any Bishop of Rome claim any universal authority. Check again, neither the Bishop of Rome nor many other western Bishops even attended Nicea.... Facts are still stubborn things.
There are countries in Central and South America where Mary is the one on the Crucifix. Go figure.
“When you make Mary the Mother of God”
God the Father did that through the Holy Spirit, not us.
“you actually give her precedence above God.”
No, you don’t in regard to divinity. Only in one sense did Mary had precedence: She was already human and God wasn’t. Jesus took His flesh from her.
“I know very little about you and notching about your mother. However, I would bet anything that she came before you.”
Was Mary on earth before the Second Person of the Trinity was born as a man in Bethlehem? Clearly the answer is yes. Does that mean Mary is divine? No. Does it mean she has precedence over God in divinity? No.
“Mothers always precede their offspring. Mary was mother of the man Jesus. She is not mother of God. Utter blasphemy.”
To say Jesus is not God - which is what you just did even if you deny it - it blasphemy. Mary existed before the Second Person of the Trinity took flesh. That is undeniable. Mary did not exist before the Second Person of the Trinity. The Second Person of the Trinity and Jesus are one in the same Person. To deny that Mary gave birth to one who is God is to deny that Jesus is God. And that is blasphemy.
To everyone:
Produce the actual quote from Pope Francis or shut up.
This is the kind of confused baloney you get from Muslims claiming to refute Trinitarian Doctrine without having the least understanding of hypostasis or anything else to do with Christianity. Shocking to read it coming from a supposed Christian.
>> the second Holy Trinity
What the heck is the “second Holy Trinity”?
I only know of one Holy Trinity.
