Is Prayer/Veneration/Worship to Mary Biblical?

The reason for this article is to determine if the worship/veneration given to Mary by the catholic church is justified from a Biblical perspective. This will be evaluated using the Biblical standard and not man’s standard.

and all that without striking through a single word of the KJV.

I infer from this that you mean this as a (veiled?) insult for the way I presented the passage regarding regret vs. repentance. You probably know that in the AV the translators were faithful to the reader in that they italicized the words that they added to the translation that were not in the Greek text. So that is what I do when presenting the KJV/AV here so that the same faithfulness to the translation is observed. If this little detail is not observed, and the verse no longer distinguishes these added words, the the verse can no longer be presented as nor clain to be as from the Crown-Authorized Bible.

Also, the translation may be read leaving those added words out, without violating the translation or the sense of the original text from which it was translated. Sometimes when I present the passage from the AV, I may, without removing the added words (honoring the translators) do strike them through, so as to encourage the reader to read the passage eliminating the added words, and thereby see that the meaning may be a bit limited by the added word(s). In doing so, I have not changed the original text at all, nor the English sense of it.

Since a translation is not inspired, and what I have done is not dishonoring, the innuendo I take from your comment that I have done something to mar or defile the passage is unacceptable. You did not mean it as a scholarly correction, did you?

Are you asserting that babies are unsaved ?

I think you must have been an infant somewhere along the line. Were you "saved" at birth?

No, you do not "understand" that I told you exactly what the Holy Scripture says, and your interpretation does not. You must sustain your opinion against the plain sense of the language, else your whole house of cards will fall.

Rdmd1, is he interpreting again? Darn, he admitted to me he was not supposed to do that without a priest's help, and yet he continues to interpret scripture. When will this unauthorized interpreting cease? BTW, you say "your whole house of cards will fall." The foundation for that house of cards was so full of holes, it never got past the first floor. Remember, it was built on the sand, and great was the fall of it.

You cannot help people see the truth when they love a lie.

Roger that. Remember, Jesus said they love darkness rather than light. I wonder why? 😊

Well, actually, he is not interpreting, when the sense of the rendering of a thought from one language is rendered in the words of another language such that the idea comes across without warping it. So what you see is that, working from a warped commentary perfected to sling a skewed interpretation, his explanation must also be warped.

I don't know if that makes sense to you, but there you are.

Hey. Today is the 6th birthday of my younger great granddaughter. We are going out tomorrow to celebrate her bd and mine which is tomorrow. We will have a great time. I think we will go to our favorite Mexican restaurant. We have been going there since the late 60’s. We do not go there too much anymore. It was my late husband’s and my late daughter’s favorite place. God bless.

I noticed the phrases you used here.

  1. works bring salvation
  2. nothing to do with salvation
  3. inception of salvation
  4. salvation begins

My advice: drop Calvin and believe all the scriptures. Salvation is a journey. Cling to the LORD Jesus Christ and do His works, His commandments, as He commanded. You can find them in the Law of Moses, and on them hang all the Law and the Prophets.

>So it looks like the Catholic Church really doesn't care what God says. "<

If the Catholic Church disregarded God, they would not have been around for 2,000+ years and still going strong.

Large numbers and longevity do not mean you are following God. Please see Islam and Hinduism.

Really??? How long's Buddha been hanging around??? Why has God let Izlamania exist for 1300 years???"

Obviously they have been doing some good and will be converted in the fullness of time.

The people say what?

....”Cling to the LORD Jesus Christ and do His works, His commandments, as He commanded.”......

We will surely fail under your equation....and frustrate the Grace of God.

Rather...that we let the Lord live ‘His life’ through us, by His Spirit, and walk in Faith.

Ah, so you concede my point.

We’re saved by faith. We show our condition by our works.

I go by what the Bible said. Not by what Protestant charlatans teach.

The only faith I have heard you talk about is faith in the Catholic Church and it's rituals.

For about a month all you do here is put James 2 on its head. When did I speak to you of any "ritual"?

Romans 4:5 speaks of someone who "does not work" and later applies it to Abraham prior to his circumcision. So then "work" their is a work of Jewish law, not a general universal teaching.

Epesians 2:8-9 is followed by the necessity of works for salvation. Learn to read the Holy Scripture every once in a while before commenting.

John 6:29 explains that faith that is "work of God" is faith Catholic, precisely in what Protestantism rejects. What do the Jews there "believe not" (verse 36)? Right, what you-all believe not. That is complete Catholic faith He is talking about, not Protestant declarative no-works-are-required faith.

can you explain what "judgement" there will be for believers?

Can you explain why St. Paul says in Hebrews 9:27 that judgment follows death then?

What judgment for believers is is explained in Matthew 25:31-46: they are judged by their works.

1 Timothy 1:19 speaks of someone whose faith is a shipwreck. There can be no shipwreck if there was no ship. So therefore there was some faith initially, and that faith was lost.

Works of self-denial, done in imitation of Christ, show that some faith has awaken in the person. Faith cannot be separated form good works. Our faith is what we do.
