Katherine Webb came off as pretty sharp after her fame blew up during the BCS Championship Game, and she's smartly taking advantage of her instant celebrity. Webb, Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron's girlfriend and Miss Alabama, announced on Twitter that she will be covering the Super Bowl for "Inside Edition." Maybe she wants a television career (she came off well during her "Today" show interview, for what it's worth), or maybe she wants to have some fun and get a free trip to New Orleans. Either way, good for her.

When will America's foreign enemies begin to take advantage of the animosity that many Americans are harboring towards their government? It would seem to me that it's not a winning proposition to go up against ATF swat teams, with even the best assault weapons when they arrive in front of your home and kick down your door. If however, their arrival was greeted with an RPG provided by Iran, or some other country who would like to see America devolve into a country in the grips of a civil war. I believe many would like to overthrow the current government,...

Christian Phillip Oberender, 32, is in jail in Carver County accused of possessing 13 firearms and ammunition as a convicted felon. Oberender was convicted of murdering his mother, Mary Oberender, in 1995. He was 14-years-old when he shot her several times with a shotgun. Now, 18 years later, he faces felony charges for possessing those 13 guns illegally, but it's what he didn't do that has his community on edge. "I need to know about these things. I am going to keep a very visual look at what is happening in this case and follow it and figure it out....

I took a friend from work to the range and allowed him to shoot my guns. He LOVED it! I was told by the previous friend that I took shooting that I was a, "Damn good teacher!" Are there any NRA certified instructors on here? What does it take to become one? We should increase our number.

Excitement is mounting for astronomers and star gazers the world over as word spreads that Comet ISON may go down in the history books as one of the flashiest ever. First discovered in September of last year by Russian astronomers, Vitali Nevski and Artyom Novichonok, Comet ISON (C/2012 S1) has been drawing attention ever since. Of course, projecting the brilliance of a comet or its tail length is an iffy proposition to be sure. It could just break apart when it nears the sun (it's expected to come as close as 32,000 miles), leaving us here on Earth less than...

Explanation: A gorgeous spiral galaxy some 100 million light-years distant, NGC 1309 lies on the banks of the constellation of the River (Eridanus). NGC 1309 spans about 30,000 light-years, making it about one third the size of our larger Milky Way galaxy. Bluish clusters of young stars and dust lanes are seen to trace out NGC 1309's spiral arms as they wind around an older yellowish star population at its core. Not just another pretty face-on spiral galaxy, observations of NGC 1309's recent supernova and Cepheid variable stars contribute to the calibration of the expansion of the Universe. Still, after...

I was discussing the gun control issue of the day with a libhole at the office...she droned on: no needs an "assault weapon for hunting". First she nearly drooled on herself when I asked her to define "assault weapon", especially after I picked up a stapler and said if I hit herewith it, it would be an "assault weapon" I tried to explain to her the 2nd amendment is not about hunting, it's the right of the people to bear arms to protect themselves from government....after some worst case scenarios she says " oh that could never happen here". It...

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) Thursday night the Fox 2 newsroom and our Facebook page got several reports of strange lights in the skies over metro Detroit. "I've been watching the airplanes tonight and it wasn't quite as high as them," said David Levy. "You could actually see the triangle shape of the object." Levy was outside Thursday night around 9:30 p.m. with friends in Flat Rock. Lisa wrote, "I [saw] some in Southgate but thought it was fireworks and weird for [January]" Nick wrote, "I assumed they were planes. They were flying in the same direction. I watched them for about...

Liberals on the popular liberal website Reddit were up in arms Tuesday night, calling for the death of Jews in response to a YouTube video. The video, which purports to show a small group of racist Israelis, inspired the ire of thousands of Redditors. The top comment on the article, receiving at the time of writing this article, has nearly half a thousand "upvotes," which shows approval of hundreds of users. It reads "Israel: Nazi Germany." In agreement, various users posted messages, including, "PLEASE STOP FUNDING THIS PIECE OF S*** COUNTRY!" An example of the average comment on the thread...

If my email in-box is any indication, the Obama White House and its allies may have bitten off much more than they can chew as they look to weaken or abolish the Second Amendment to the Constitution and our right to bear arms. Over the last two weeks I have heard from a growing list of Second Amendment supporters, members of the NRA, and those simply worried about the continual erosion of our rights as crafted by the Founding Fathers. Why I am being contacted now has to do with the fact that last year Simon & Schuster published my...

The assault weapons ban proposed by US President Barack Obama on Wednesday faces quicksand in Congress, where Republicans are in a position to defeat any such a measure. Instead, lawmakers in the House and Senate could address some of Obama's other proposals, including a universal background check for all gun purchases and a ban on high-capacity magazines. The debate comes in the aftermath of last month's tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut that left 20 children and six adults dead. Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein is preparing to introduce a bill next Thursday that would ban assault...

The reports claim there is no birth certificate for Lennay Kekua, Manti Te'o's dead girlfriend. It turns out she really did exist, it's just that she was born in the same hospital as obama!

Weird stuff. Then again, we are talking about Jim Moran. Appearing on Al Sharpton's MSNBC show this evening, the Dem Congressman from Virginia declared that "older white guys" were "the most insecure component of our society." Added Moran, possibly alluding to the difficulties in adopting additional gun control measures, "we're much the problem with these kind of things." Joan Walsh was there to support the self-doubting Moran. "There are a lot of terrific older white guys out there," naming Moran and Vice-President Biden among them. View the video here.

(Reuters) - Islamist fighters seized dozens of Western and Algerian hostages in a dawn raid on a natural gas facility deep in the Sahara on Wednesday and demanded France halt a new offensive against rebels in neighboring Mali. Three people, among them one British and one French, were reported killed, but details were sketchy and numbers of those held at Tigantourine ranged from 41 foreigners - including perhaps seven Americans as well as Japanese and Europeans - to over 100 local staff, held separately and less closely watched. What is clear is that with a dramatic counterpunch to this...

With the hysteria brewing over the upcoming debt ceiling crisis and the uproar over gun control, people are concentrating on what the right hand of government is doing. They are paying scant attention to the left hand which is feverishly nominating people to positions of power that we know very little about. The media is virtually burying the stories on most of Obama’s choices for his second term. Those we already know like Janet Napolitano and John Kerry are really not worth the effort to talk about. We know what we are getting with them, the book has been opened...

The White House on Wednesday blasted a web ad released by the National Rifle Association using President Barack Obama’s daughters to criticize the president on gun control as “repugnant and cowardly." The NRA released the ad Tuesday, a day before Obama announced a package of proposals aimed at curbing gun violence in the wake of a mass shooting in Newtown, Conn., last month. In strikingly personal terms, the ad calls Obama an "elitist hypocrite" for allowing Secret Service protection for daughters even as he calls for tighter gun laws. "Why is [Obama] skeptical about putting armed security in schools when...

On Wednesday’s broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “Your World with Neil Cavuto,” conservative talk show host Mark Levin said President Barack Obama’s executive actions to curb gun violence, which were announced during a Wednesday press event, are as “un-American” and “fascistic” as they are unhelpful. “What do any of these 23 [executive actions] have to do with what happened in Newtown? I’ve studied all 23 of them now. They have absolutely nothing to do with the mass murder that took place in Connecticut — zero. And the president won’t be asked about it. I have gone through these. It’s a...

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration says it is requiring airlines to temporarily stop flying Boeing's 787 Dreamliner. The Federal Aviation Administration on Wednesday ordered U.S. airlines to temporarily stop flying Boeing's 787 Dreamliner following a series of mishaps. The agency said the decision to ground Boeing 787s was prompted by a second incident involving lithium ion battery failure. Earlier Wednesday, Japan's two leading airlines grounded their fleets of Boeing 787s after one of the Dreamliner passenger jets made an emergency landing.

Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron, a native of Mobile, met the little girl more than a week earlier, when he and his family delivered presents to the hospital's pediatric patients on Christmas Eve 2011. McCarron was a patient at the hospital after he was nearly killed in a jet ski accident as a young boy. When McCarron handed Starla a present that night, she was wearing an Alabama cheerleading uniform. She handed him back a present of her own: a bright yellow bracelet that was inscribed with the words, "Just trust." McCarron promised Starla he would wear the bracelet when the...
