  • SURFER BREAKS WORLD RECORD RIDING 90 FOOT WAVE!

This may be the first nonpolitical post I've made but this was just too cool not to share: Despite the fact that one wrong move could put Garrett into an early watery grave, crushed by mega tons of water, he appeared to calm and in control, even as he traversed down the most dangerous part of the wave to set a new world record, surfing a 90 foot wave!
  • Whale nearly swallows kayaker and surfer

A whale nearly swallowed two people on a kayak and a woman on a surfboard. The humpback whale lunged from out of nowhere just several feet away, forcing thousands of anchovies to the surface, with sea gulls swarming around the scene in search of breakfast. Barbara Roettger filmed the epic near-miss event near Santa Cruz, California where recently a sailboat collided with another humpback whale and at least one kayaker capsized. Oh, and for the record, humpback whales typically are about 50 feet long and weigh 50 tons. That’s a whopping 2000 pounds for every foot of whale. Short be...
  • Soft-Core Academic Analysis

    Accuracy in Academia ^ | October 31, 2011 | Malcolm A. Kline
Here’s the thing about academic research: At its best, it reaffirms the obvious but at a much greater cost than casual observation entails. “A number of studies have found style of clothing and extent of nudity to be important markers of sexualization,” Erin Hatton and Mary Nell Trautner of the University of Buffalo wrote in a paper which appeared in Sexuality & Culture. A number of people outside the academy have noticed the same trend, merely by walking down the street. Nevertheless, the sociologists from Buffalo sought to break new ground. “A number of journalists and scholars have pointed to...

I am putting together a photo album. One consisting of my own photographs taken by the DSLR camera I own. I've already created one album, paying ~ $42 for a book of 26 pages (13 sheets) of my color photographs. Expensive, but worth it. (The service, which I selected after thorough online investigation, was Adoramapix. I am not associated with them, and seeing the results I do recommend them, but if you know of a service that is less costly and as good, please do let us know.) The theme and title of my second photo album is to be...

What a great place to initiate some recon...  the Ruskies' most vital and abundant resource: And this one's a potential threat to US security interests all by her sexy little self, boys- Miss Russia 2011  Natalia Gantimurova is studying advanced English in Moscow and already earned a college degree in 'International Relations'- wonder what she's planning to do with all that. Good thing then we've got such an emotionally-detached metrosexual/eunuch of a president these days, if Bubba was still in office he'd fork over anything this one asked for in five minutes (best keep Hillary and her 'reset button' away too,...
  • Japan marks 6 months since earthquake, tsunami

TOKYO (AP) -- Last Sunday was the six-month anniversary of the day the massive earthquake and tsunami devastated Japan's northeast coast. Some 20,000 people are dead or missing. More than 800,000 homes were completely or partially destroyed. The disaster crippled businesses, roads and infrastructure. The Japanese Red Cross Society estimates that 400,000 people were displaced. Half a year later, there are physical signs of progress. Much of the debris has been cleared away or at least organized into big piles. In the port city of Kesennuma, many of the boats carried inland by the tsunami have been removed. Most evacuees...

  • Conservative blogger seeking inexpensive place to stay Chicago May 2012 NATO and G8 summits

    10/26/2011 11:14:09 AM PDT · by el marco · 10 replies
I have never been to Illinois before, but NATO and G8 summits, to take place between May 15-22 are calling my name. My blog is totally self-funded, and I don't have a real job, and not collecting any government anything needless to say, so I need to do all my work on a limited budget. All I really need is internet access and a place to work quietly, and since I'm not a grungy liberal, to shower and sleep (a couch would do in a pinch.) A place with easy access to where these events will take place is strongly...
  • The Last Supper – The Genius of Leonardo da Vinci

The Last Supper is one of the most famous of Leonardo’s pictures. Commissioned by da Vinci’s patron, Ludovico Sforza, Duke of Milan, it was painted on a wall inside the convent of Santa Maria della Grazie in Milan in the 1490s. The Last Supper had always been a popular subject for devotional painting but Leonardo’s interpretation lifted the image to a higher plane in terms of art.

Since there was such an interest in model's teeth, I thought I would do an overview of model's hair. Ever notice that the hair in fashion magazines never resembles what you actually see in reality? Imagine what it takes to maintain these hairstyles for anything except a photo shoot with a stylist off-camera.

  • Authors Clamor to Join “Occupy Writers” List

The statement on OccupyWriters.com is simple: We, the undersigned writers and all who will join us, support Occupy Wall Street and the Occupy Movement around the world. Scroll down and you’ll see dozens of names, in strict alphabetical order with no concern for genre or fame. But unlike the wikis, Meetups, and other collectively compiled resources of Occupy Wall Street and Occupy Together, this list is maintained by a tiny handful of people. “Some people have asked us why we don’t automate the list,” says OW founder Jeff Sharlet. “Ask ‘Henry Kissinger,’ ‘Herman Melville,’ and the ghost of Howard Zinn,...
