Just days after President Obama inaugurated his new immigration policy, "there is a new normal when it comes to talking about immigration," said Jose Antonio Vargas. "There is a notable shift in the way our country and our politicians are talking about it," he said on Tuesday's episode of The Ed Show. "And I welcome that." A whole generation "now thinks the Republican Party is synonymous with being the anti-immigrant party," said Vargas, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist who outed himself as an illegal immigrant last year...

The Presidential election of 2008 was one of the most important in the history of the United States. The economy was on the verge of complete collapse, and decisions had to be made to ensure the economy did not fail. Let’s imagine, if we can, how things would have been different if McCain had beat Obama. The McCain-Palin ticket offered something that could have made history. A female vice president of the United States would have been a huge step toward equality for women- especially in positions of power. Aside from that one historical marker that would have been positive...

Ten thousand more people are expected to be on hand in the Nevada desert for this year's Burning Man festival after federal officials increased the event's attendance cap. The U.S. Bureau of Land Management issued a special recreation permit to the nonprofit behind Burning Man, San Francisco-based Black Rock City LLC, that allows 60,900 people to attend the arts festival, up from 50,000 last year. Officials announced the increase on Tuesday.

Today Barack Obama came out the gate looking like the horse that wants to win the double crown. It's only June but the man is nasty and mean! I don't remember the name of the man who is running against him, but he's got his you know what cut out for him. Obama, according to most ultra-conservatives slapped legislative and judicial in the face today and announced immigration amnesty to some who are in the U.S. and considered illegal. Although the conservative airwaves are screaming Constitution and how can he, the fact is he can. Almost all executive officers of...

Liar, killer, and convicted 1978 “Speedway Bomber” Brett Kimberlin is engaged in a part-time career of using police to harass, intimidate, and even facilitate the death of conservative bloggers across the nation. In what has come to be called “SWAT-ing,” Kimberlin and a number of suspected associates make bogus calls to 911 in order to report a serious domestic crime–in one instance, masquerading as a husband who admits to the brutal murder of his wife. Police respond with the dispatch of a SWAT team to the address provided in the call only to find, after breaking down the door and...

Pres. Obama was a pothead growing up in Hawaii. When he and his smoking buddies got high, they called it "chooming." According to a new biography about the president, Davis Maraniss' Barack Obama: The Story, Barry Obama was the head of the Choom Gang. Barack Obama 1980The young Obama was known for his rules of marijuana engagement, such as "total absorption," which penalized premature exhaling. "Your turn was skipped the next time the joint came around," Maraniss writes. "Roof hits" are described as, "When they were chooming in a car, all the windows had to be rolled up so no...

What would the U.S. look like if McCain/Palin had won the presidency in '08? Christianity 101, drilled into me through 10 years of Catholic schools from elementary to high school: Heaven and Hell, respectively, are places to work towards entering joyously and avoiding at all costs. Purgatory was that ambiguous place where souls not quite pure as the driven snow yet not as dark as the devil's--went to "dry out." Think of it as rehab for the slightly sinful before they could be rehabilitated into Heaven. Purgatory comes to mind envisioning a John McCainJohn McCain and Sarah PalinSarah Palin victory....

A cross-dressing University of Georgia professor was arrested after he offered his 'services' to an undercover officer in a hotel room while he was dressed as a woman called Sasha. German professor Max Reinhart, 65, was arrested on Thursday in Gwinnett County, Atlanta, on charges of prostitution and keeping a house of prostitution. He was dressed in drag and offered 30 minutes of his 'services' for just $60. -snip- He teaches German literature and history at the unviersity, and in particular focuses on the work of 18th-century writer, poet and artist Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Is a Paulian putsch being planned for the Republican National Convention? Newt Gingrich has warned that Republican leaders have not thought through “how they’re going to handle the convention in Tampa, and how they’re going to handle the Ron Paul forces.” The New York Sun reported that “what Mr. Gingrich seems to be worried about is the delegates that Congressman Paul is winning through his strategy of dealing with state conventions. The former speaker had just come from the convention at Georgia, where … the ‘Ron Paul people’ were out in force.” I have been receiving alarming emails concerning an...

A series of sexually explicit e-mails sent by the superintendent of the Des Moines, Iowa public schools triggered her abrupt resignation last month, and subsequently cost the 57-year-old educator her new post atop the Omaha, Nebraska school system. The correspondence exchanged by Nancy Sebring and a man with whom she was having an extramarital affair were sent via her school e-mail account, a violation of the system's Internet-use guidelines. Many of Sebring’s racy e-mails were sent during the workday (and were sent/received on devices owned by the Des Moines school district).

When George Zimmerman fatally shot unarmed Florida teenager Trayvon Martin in February, he wasn't immediately arrested and charged because of the state's controversial 2005 "Stand Your Ground" law. At the time police did not have any evidence to prove Zimmerman wasn't acting in self-defense. After the case was reviewed by a prosecutor, Zimmerman was charged with second-degree murder and is now in a Florida jail awaiting trial. But could Zimmerman beat the charge? Some killers and vicious attackers are walking free today as a result of the Stand Your Ground law, a report in the Tampa Bay Times shows. The...

Octomom, a.k.a. Nadya Suleman, has decided to forge ahead with her adult entertainment career and do a quick stint as a stripper. The mom of 14 booked a gig at T’s Lounge in West Palm Beach, and will perform from July 11 – 15. This news comes on the heels of her house almost being foreclosed on, and her decision to make a masturbation porn. And while I think it’s easy to say “poor Octomom” at this point, I feel the opposite about her recent choices — I think she’s doing what she has to do to take care of...

President Obama's LGBT Pride Month proclamation, just in from the White House: A PROCLAMATION From generation to generation, ordinary Americans have led a proud and inexorable march toward freedom, fairness, and full equality under the law -- not just for some, but for all. Ours is a heritage forged by those who organized, agitated, and advocated for change; who wielded love stronger than hate and hope more powerful than insult or injury; who fought to build for themselves and their families a Nation where no one is a second-class citizen, no one is denied basic rights, and all of us...

Prank callers have proved the final straw for the mayor of F***ing, who will hold a vote this week about whether to change the name of the village. Callers have been ringing up families and businesses simply to ask: ‘Is that F***ing’ – before laughing and hanging up. Signs have been stolen, while the ones that remain often have seen naked couples getting frisky in front of them. -snip- The 16th-century name for the village was ‘Fugging’ and many want this reinstated. Mayor Franz Meindl added: ‘I wanted the name to stay but it’s got too much now. The only...

Trayvon Martin family attorney Benjamin Crump spoke on the recent news of George Zimmerman’s bond being revoked earlier today by Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester. Judge Lester ruled that Zimmerman has at least 48 hours to turn himself into police after it was revealed that Zimmerman’s wife misled the court about the funds he was receiving through PayPal donations. Upon hearing that Zimmerman’s bond had been revoked, Crump said: "This is such an important ruling today because once again George Zimmerman's credibility is the issue… he should remain in custody until there is a trial....Judge Lester’s ruling in this matter is...

Lining up public officials in support of legislation is standard fare for interest groups advancing their agenda on Capitol Hill. But the letter signed by 23 state Attorneys General in support of the National Rifle Association’s bill to nationalize concealed carry of handguns suggests that, for those public officials, pandering to the gun lobby is far more important than doing the job they were sworn to perform. Call me naïve, but I had always thought that a State Attorney General had a solemn duty to enforce the laws of his/her state. Apparently some Attorneys General recognize a “gun law” exception...

On the May 23, 2012 addition of Fox & Friends, Larry Sabato advises Mitt Romney NOT to select a conservative running mate because "Obama has already united the base". This is the kind of disrespect the conservative majority receives from these leftist hi-jackers. It is getting worse, not better. So the choice this Fall is between worshipping The Beast or The Anti-Christ. Some choice.

The classic definition of chutzpah is the child who kills his parents and throws himself on the mercy of the court as an orphan. The classic definition when it comes to politics is for the Obama campaign to demand that Mitt Romney disassociate himself from the loathsome Donald Trump when it took Barack Obama oh-so-long to kiss off the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Do two wrongs make a Wright? Having punned egregiously, I know I must hasten to add that Trump’s insistence that Obama’s place of birth remains an open question is both revolting and dopey. He has kept at this...
