Civil servants also include:

FBI agents who often put their lives on the line - infiltrating gangs, mafia, terrorist cells, etc.

Secret Service agents - who put their lives on the line ready to take a bullet for the president.

Border patrol agents who put their lives on the line and then get thrown in jail for it by their own government.

Researchers - whose research does things like develop cruise missles (the original cruise missle technology was developed by a civil servant at a Navy lab - I knew his wife)

Advanced sonar and guided torpedoes were also developed by civil servants (my husband one of them) at a gov’t research lab - Navy - all civil servants.

Sky marshalls flying on planes ready to put their lives on line if a terrorist tries to take over a plane.

FAA investigators who painstakingly put together the details and parts of a crashed plane to try to determine what happened - very specialized people.

Air controllers - one of the most stressful jobs in the world upon whose skill hangs the lives of millions who fly every day.

CIA spys who enter very dangerous regions of the world undercover and actually do spy for us.

Drug enforcement undercover agents who sometimes come back in small pieces like agent Enrique Camerena.

CIA analysts who are very skilled in interpreting aerial recon photos of places like Iran and China.

Homeland Security analysts (like my nephew) who have actually defused several terrorist bomb plots. You’ll never see his name in print.

And yes, the postal worker who still carries the mail on his/her back and still tromps around in the snow/rain/hot/cold. That hasn’t changed much.

No....these people are not brainless.

Many of them are exceptionally highly skilled and for many they could make a lot more money in the private sector (like my husband who is now retired), but actually chose to work as a civil servant because he wanted to contribute to the common good.

The police officer in the squad car -you call on when you are in trouble.

The bomb squad you expect to diffuse a bomb found in your neighborhood (happened at my shopping mall).

And many more...many more....

I know its rather boring and nerdy - but those people do exist and thank G-D they do.

It would be interesting to know how “good faith” will be defined/determined.

Another one of those devil in the details kind of thing.

Don’t get me wrong I am for this amendment.

I have an excellent plan.......

Round ‘em up and send ‘em back home to the country and religion they love so much.

It’s easier for everyone - they won’t have to go to all that bother of bombing and changing us and we won’t have to...uh...er...um.....do anything ....and we can get on with worrying about Rosie, Paris and the next American Idol.

The procedure can include more than clitoral removal - it can include removing everything. This depends upon the custom of the girl’s family or the demands of the potential husband-to-be in an arranged marriage.

The women in the family participate because they’ve been taught that no man will marry them if this is not done. So, though women participate - it is a male demand that it be done.

The effects are lifelong - with infection from menses and other bodily functions prohibited from exiting the body as nature meant it should.

In some cultures in addition to the mutilation the female is then “sewn up” tightly - again for the male’s pleasure. On the wedding night he has the fun of punching through thte sutures - while music plays so her screams can’t be heard.

When time for the birth of a baby - the stitching is removed and after the birth re-stitched.

The procedure itself is not always performed by females upon females - but often a male barber (yes, a barber) does it in the back of his shop - sometimes using pieces of glass.

The victim can be any age - from an infant to a marriagable woman in her twenties.

The death rate is horrific - the infection rate almost 100%.

But the binding of a woman’s soul starts in many ways - with a head scarf when she is very small ....

I think about that as I watch my city being overrun with veiled and head scarfed little girls.

Yes, I do know the history .....but that’s not the way forward. Going backward is not going forward.

I live in San Diego where this school is - its not that far from my house - about two miles.

As far as I can see this information is not being carried in the local newspaper or local media - at least as far as I’ve seen. I would say that most San Diegans aren’t aware of it.

Roger Hedgecock has talked about it on his local talk show - but even then not that much. As far as I know the information about what was happening at that school was due to the complaint by a subsitute teacher. However, as I recall she has been silenced - one way or another.

This does not surprise me. A few years ago I saw an elementary PUBLIC school class brought into the PUBLIC library as a field trip. Almost the entire class was moslem - most of the little (six years old) girls were in head scarves and veils.

I can tell you we are overwhelmed with moslems - veiled women and little girls everywhere. There are main streets (University Avenue) on which almost everyone walking is in a veil or that long white thing the men wear.

I live in a middle class older neighborhood and we are really being overwhelmed.

Lest you think these are all innocent people - well think again. The two monsters who piloted the plane that slammed into the Pentagon on Sept. 11th lived two blocks from my house.

There were no flags on the houses in that area after Sept. 11th.

Well, if they said it I didn’t hear it....

But I did hear it misquoted by a national news broadcaster.

Don’t ask me which one - I was so angry I was busy spitting nails.

And when she was corrected she said:

“Whatever”

Which just about sums up the entire news media.

I really do wish Christians would stop fighting among themselves.

We have a common enemy that is threatening us with annialation and all we are doing is splitting ourselves up into smaller and smaller pieces.

I am saying “we” - but I am not a Christian - I am a Jew.

I view all Christians as my brothers/sisters and I really do hate family fights.

I don’t think Chist would like it either.

And worse yet - politicians who denigrate the warriors they send into battle.

A country that celebrates diversity obviously is not celebrating unity.

A country that is not united is not a country - it’s a patchwork of problems with no unified solution.

It’s a patchwork of goals with no unifying road.

E Pluribus Unum doesn’t mean “from one - many” (as one ignorant news caster proclaimed.

It means: “From Many - One”

A military force that is not used is worthless.

A military force that threatens but isn’t allowed to carry through is worse than useless.
