"When the stock market crashed (in 1929), Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the princes of greed. He said, ‘Look, here’s what happened.’ ”
It was a great sound bite except for two things – Herbert Hoover, not Roosevelt, was president at the time, and commercial television didn’t exist."

Yes, they were both here yesterday (GB). Right across from Lambeau Field, in the Resch Center, which seats 11,000 and it was nearly full.
The crowd was wildly enthusiastic. Sarah spoke first and boy she had really done her homework...............right down to finding out that the Resch Center is the home ice for our local semi-pro hockey team.:) She loved that.:)
Her speech was interrupted by applause after nearly every sentence. It was sort of a condensed version of her convention speech, with a few new wrinkles. McCain's speech was somewhat more subdued but no less powerful, if that makes sense. He definitely commanded the respect of the thousands in attendance.
There were a few protestors shooting off their mouths now & then but security had them out the door darn near before they could finish their first sentence.:)
Obama will be speaking at the same venue on Monday at noon. I will be curious to see how many show up for that.
I've been to political rallies before but never one this large. All I kept thinking was, man, ALL THESE PEOPLE believe in basically the same things I do. I especially appreciated the tremendous ovations given whenever the subject of our fabulous military came up, as we have a son who will be deploying to Iraq this spring (his 2nd deployment). (His first as a SERGEANT, though...............said the proud military mom.:)
He did. He was with the 101st in Iraq in March of ‘03. His “artwork” in the sand revealed the position of the 101 relative to Baghdad.Because of his actions he was expelled from Iraq and escorted to the Kuwaiti border.
