The world of politics occasionally takes some surprising turns. One such turn that is taking place this week is the fact that the mainstream media seems to have finally realized that something wrong happened in Benghazi, that it had nothing to do with a spontaneous protest over a video no one ever saw, and that members of the Obama administration lied about their response to the attack. One would get the impression that a sudden outbreak of journalism had infected the Washington press corps, but I suspect that is not the case.

Top Republican Senator ditches Norquist anti-tax pledge A top Republican senator is casting aside an anti-tax pledge he signed, saying that solving the country’s looming fiscal crisis is more important than honoring the decades-old pact. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., broke ranks with other conservatives Wednesday when he made the remarks to a local television station. Chambliss is a member of the Gang of Six, a bipartisan group of senators tasked with finding a solution to the country's fiscal woes.

Egypt’s new President Mohamed Morsi recently warned in an interview with the New York Times that it was up to the United States to repair its relationship with the Arab world. Barack and Michelle Obama will be moving to Hawaii in January of 2013 and preparations are now being made to purchase an estate in close proximity to land owned by the University of Hawaii, where the Obama presidential library and “political center” will be located. It is Memorial Day weekend already, marking the unofficial start of summer. The school year is ending, and families are getting ready to begin their annual summer vacations. Osama bin Laden was a murderous thug who had no respect for the rights of individuals and openly opposed, in the bloodiest manner, those who wished to uphold those same rights. Bin Laden followed Islam's lengthy tradition of turning to violence almost immediately to gain power and influence.
