Is almost exactly what Glenn is proposing. Too bad most of the posters here seem to be the conservative versions of what I dislike most about progressives. They resort to name calling without reading or listening to what they are criticizing. There is always things someone does that you don’t like and Glenn has his faults. I initially disagreed with him on this until I heard him out and now find that he is offering a reasonable solution. It may not be the perfect solution but it is not crazy. Basically:

- have compassion on the children.
- in the short term treat them with dignity
- send them back home with a powerful story of the compassionate America (long term win-win)

- Shut down the border immediately
- Enforce Our laws
- Enforce Our laws

He is asking the public sector, not the government to help the children. He doesn’t want one more dime from the government to be apportioned. He is using his charity organization www.mercuryone.org to help the children. This is one of the few I know where every penny given to a specific cause gets to the recipients.

So if these are the ideas of a nut case then I guess I’m a nut case too, cause they seem reasonable to me.

So you’ve drunk the Apple Koolade. I don’t see how. I bought the Ipad on the 1st day. It’s my first I-anything Apple product. There’s no way it replaces a computer. I had hoped it would replace my personal laptop but honestly in many ways it just sucks. Don’t get me wrong it does some things right but the negatives are huge. I won’t be keeping it long term once the new Android or Windows tablets come out. Then mine will be on eBay so please keep the hype up so that when I go to sell mine I get a good price.

By the way the top 5 big negatives:
1 - No Flash support - sorry but a large chunk of the web uses Flash so deal with it.

2 - Lousy streaming media support on the web. I am a political junky and most of the sites I go to (Glenn Beck, Rush, Fox News, any radio stations steam) either use flash, Windows Media, or Real Media. None of these work so this whole Ipad is a liberal plot to take away my conservative access.

3 - You still need a computer to make it work & Itunes is one of the quirkiest tools I’ve ever seen.

4 - no multitasking. So you can’s have twitter running in the background monitoring th #TCOT feeds, you can’t have I Heart radio running in the background to listen to your favorite conservative host, and more and more. It really sucks to only have one thing open at a time. (note supposedly they’re gonna fiz this)

5 Lousy note taking. I’ve now tried every app, free and paid on the d*mn thing to take notes, which is one of the primary things I used my tablet pc for. All the apps suck and not being able to use a stylus to take notes is even worse. I really wanted to take this to meetings and capture my notes.

Does anyone know if there is a Twitter hash tag for this conference? I’d like to follow it.

You are correct in that they only needed 51 votes to pass the bill. That was the vote on Christmas Eve. However, once the bill comes back to the senate either from conference or from a direct house vote there will be another cloture vote requiring 60 votes. This will be the last chance to kill it. So finding at least 1 more Senator is very important.

I bought one of these a few years ago. It’s still one of my favorites... Nice tight groups and fairly cheap to shoot.
