No such thing any more as “The Church.”

Christian and Jewish groups leadership have been guilty accomplices to tearing core laws to smithers and smugly patting themselves on their backs and elsewhere. They’ve been told that 20th century Marxist/”progressives” can be trusted on an understand God’s will better than anyone in four millennia and better than God’s word itself.

It’s bad enough I have to look at CNN in airports, though even there I try to keep my distance and gravitate to the windows far from the screens. I haven’t had cable for many years.

I agree with some other posters. It would be lovely if one could contract for cable on an ala carte basis, with a low base fee of $50 sign up fee and perhaps $10 per month for the convenience and then $3 per month for any other channel for which we’d want to subscribe. One a one time basis, the cost for a channel not already in your bin could be $10. A lot more people would sign up, I think, and they’d make money on volume.

“Actually, it was decided properly and acted on correctly.

If SCOTUS were to define the proper relationships, it would have been akin to Legislating from the bench.”

    I realize you are correct.

The choice, then, of what relatives and how they will be verified, is an administrative one. I do believe the only verifiable relations are those that check out with DNA - and of course - that still doesn’t say they’re not here for slow or fast Jihad.

I’ve become aware of rampant falsification of IDs. One woman from Africa who worked for about 10 years with an African name and a U.S. SS number and was trying to get her son to get permission to come to the U.S. and of course wanted herself to become a citizen had an immigration lawyer in a major U.S. city. The next thing that happens is that her name totally changes - first name and last name. She is now a woman with an Anglo Saxon name like Mary Jones and a brand new SS number.

The big agency personnel for whom she work(ed) says their staff were told not to flinch and not to question the women about the fact that she has two different names and two different social security numbers, the second now superseding the first - and to simply file the newer paperwork in the person’s file “to cover themselves in proving they were given paperwork.”

Mary Jones, whom the government does not realize is the “other” African woman they did know, now applies for some or more people in her network to come over, including any combination of the following: real family, extended family, people who pay her to come over.

When I asked one African woman under what program she’d come to the U.S., she replied that she, both her sisters and several cousins all “won the green card lottery.” That seemed statistically astounding to me.

Different rules and hugely better verification are needed. DNA would be a huge aide to determine relatedness. I can think of no other way, unless the government just throws up its hands, stops pretending to verify, and says: Bring any additional 20 people you want! Each of those, in turn, would then do the same, etc.

Asylum seeking is a common approach that has brought many people here in the past couple of decades. Some legit, some not.

Bigamy, from what I can infer, is also common. The person wanting to get to the U.S. pays for an American citizen to marry them. No telling how the first party became an American citizen either. The marriages are only on paper.

Hawaii is right that the definition of close relative was not properly defined. But, the alternative is not as they say, but just the opposite.

it should have been defined to parent/child and that proven by genetic testing. Nobody else!

The Muslim and other African immigrant “culture” is to call hundreds of people in one’s friendship circle, “Granny,” or “My Uncle,” “My Sister,” “My Brother,” “My Cousin.” I have witnessed one domestic worker have three “grandma’s” die in the course of four years. It is a cultural thing to call people by terms suggesting they are blood relatives, when they are not. The court order is undermining the possibility of a decent result to say it’s ok to let in grandparents and uncles.

Fraud in immigration has been rampant. People marry a U.S. citizen as a contract only kind of thing, signed, sealed and paid for. Not a real marriage. This is already as common as common can be. Multiple social security numbers and multiple identities, too. Each of these identifies can get other illegals into the system through multiple marriages. Those that do they are quoted as saying, “it’s not a problem. the government will never know the difference.”

The only relatives that should be allowed to come are first degree relatives - proven by a DNA test - parents and children. Tough love. Given how many spouses and siblings and aunts and uncles and grandparents each of them have and don’t mind having in exchange for money, one can’t allow “spouses.” Most of the time they are not really spouses and not real sisters and brothers.

That’s all of CNN ratings. Airports, train stations and bus stations.

I know it’s free for the Airports, train stations and bus terminals. that’s why they have it on.

“Part of your taxes in your cable bill go to C Span, C Span 2 and CNN. This is because there was no 24 hour news prior to this. The government wanted to make sure everyone could have access, and they installed it at Airports, Train Stations and bus terminals.

Although today there are plenty of 24 hour news and we have the Internet. CNN should be cut out of the picture.

Word is that if this should happen CNN will fold. They will not be able to stay in service without your tax money in the cable bill.”

Ok, so what’s the best way there can be traction for cutting CNN out of that benefit?

“The public should choose not to watch. They should demand peace and quiet from their airports. Unfortunately the majority of the public prefers to mindlessly soak it all up. I have been TV-free since 1999. When I do watch I am amazed at the low quality of the reporters, anchors, etc. Then there are the commercials for patent medicines that nobody needs, etc.”

You’re right. Ok, how do we go about demanding peace and quiet at the airports? I think that will be a tough mission. The opposition will say they want “to know what’s going on in the world.”

Perhaps ask for just the closed captioning, words across the bottom news. No sound unless one has the special device to pick up the sound, as in healthclubs. With a “healthclub” approach, people could individually also choose from a variety of channels.” Competition for viewers among channels is an improvement over only CNN.

I’ve tried to figure out how to contact the petition writer listed, but on the face of it, can’t see how. Maybe one of you who have not yet responded to the petition can do so and in doing so, if there is a space for comment, recommend that the author correct the grammar in the first sentence. One a person has completed the petition, the smart software does not allow a second communication with that particular petition.

Thanks for that information. For how long is that/those contract(s). Are there 47 different contracts, one for each airport authority? Has there been competition for the contract(s)? Is competition impossible? If so, wouldn’t that constitute an unfair monopoly?

CNN also is also widespread as the only choice in non-U.S. airports. To me it seems like a heck of a lot, but I haven’t travelled to every country. Ditto on cable TV in other countries. Often CNN is the only U.S. channel choice. That seems the default for a basic cable package.

I didn’t write the petition. I’m no less bothered by bad grammar than you are. Would that the author, trying to sound “smart,” understand what case to use for the object of a preposition. Maybe it’s possible for Freepers to contact the author of the petition, which is addressing an important issue about the forced blanketing of public places with CNN.

I didn’t write the petition. The issue of this monopoly does need to be addressed by whatever means are available. When antimonopoly action is taken in any sphere of enterprise, broken contracts of all sorts must wind up broken.
