  • "Boy, girl or both?" - Oakland elementary school teaches pupils there are more than two genders

    Three: masculine, feminine, and neuter.

The point is that "gender" is a grammatical term. "Sex" (a word that the sex-obsessed deviant community seems oddly prudish about) is a biological term, and there are two sexes: male and female.

Yes, occasionally the genetic wires get crossed and produce hermaphrodites; yes, individuals of some species (in what used to be called the "lower orders") can swap from one sex to the other; yes, some other species (certain plants and invertebrates, and a very few animals) reproduce asexually; and yes, some (plants and crustaceans) alternate between sexual and asexual reproduction.

However, last I looked, people aren't plants or molluscs (although certain politicians' conduct is strong evidence for the existence of mammalian invertebrates). The point, as posters have noted, is that in human biology, sitting somewhere in the middle of the hypothesized continuum between male and female doesn't imply the existence of a third sex, and for damned sure doesn't mandate its creation by fiat.

The three most frightening phrases in this report:

"The president had been instructed by Jarrett ..."

and "Jarrett refused to allow the president to give that approval ..."

and "an abort order that ... originated from Valerie Jarrett’s office."

Here's the straight(er) poop on his "townhall" visit to ElectraTherm (located, BTW, just a howitzer-lob from the airport -- quick in-and-out for the Populist-in-Chief's motorcade. No joke). Quoting, in relevant part, this week's Reno Gazette-Journal story:

    -------

Energy company gets ready to host President Obama in Reno -- Event closed to the public

-- ElectraTherm, Inc. is a small renewable energy company known for its product, the Green Machine, which generates fuel-free, emission free power from low to mid temperature waste heat using the Organic Rankine Cycle and patented technology.

-- ElectraTherm Inc. won a $982,000 U.S. Department of Energy grant last fall to research, develop and demonstrate its technology of converting low-to mid-temperature heat waste into power.

"It’s not every day that a business gets invited to play host to a presidential visit. For ElectraTherm Inc., a small [44-person] renewable energy company in Reno, that day comes Thursday when President Barack Obama stops by for an invitation-only town hall-style visit. 'It’s really fantastic for a small company,' Chief Executive Officer John Fox said Monday. 'I think we’re hopefully getting for starting to make some headway in green energy in Northern Nevada with the struggling economy, and hiring people and getting a Department of Energy award last year. It’s an honor to have our facility portrayed in this light,' Fox said.

"The visit is to follow a similar event at Facebook headquarters in Palo Alto, Calif. The White House said Monday, is calling them 'Shared Responsibility and Shared Prosperity' town halls.

"The [ElectraTherm] event is not open to the public. No one could say Monday how to get on the invitation list to hear Obama in his first trip to Reno as president. 'One thing we do know is that every employee gets to invite one person, so a lot of people are inviting their spouses,' Fox said."

    -------

Another local story offered a few more details:

"'This is about jobs and growing the economy, and the tough choices we need to make to bring our deficit down, but in a way that will help us continue to grow,' said Jen Psaki, deputy White House communications director. 'But there are areas that we can't afford to cut and that is investment in clean energy and innovative technology...'

"Only about 400 people will be allowed to listen to Obama at ElectraTherm, White House officials said. The invitation-only stop in Reno, one not open to the public, will be the third town hall-style meeting Obama will hold this week.

"'The way we do these, there is unfortunately, a limited space and the attendees will include ElectraTherm employees, local community college students, and a couple of elected officials,' Psaki said. 'We wish we could have far more people at these events. I would encourage anyone who isn't able to attend on Thursday to submit a question for our Facebook town hall we are doing tomorrow (Wednesday). Anyone can ask a question. But again, we will have a limited amount of time but we are hopeful that he will be able to take as many questions from across the country (as time allows).'"

    =======

First, a note to Mr. Fox. That there "fuel-free, emission-free power" sounds mighty clever. Like to hear more about it. So would the faculty of every physics department of every university in the world. Or maybe your PR droid just can't wrap her little green head around the notion that using "low- to mid-temperature waste heat" (or "heat waste" -- the Journal gives it to us both ways) as fuel isn't quite the same thing as using no fuel at all.

Next, 'Shared Responsibility and Shared Prosperity' has a familiar ring. "From each..., to each..." -- something like that, isn't it?

"Local community college students" -- right on the heels of Tuesday's remarks at Northern Virginia Community College. Considerate of baby Mordred to stay in his own intellectual weight class, no?

Regarding disingenuous sobbing over limited space and wishing more people could attend: if the Current Occupant and his train-bearers had wanted more space and a bigger audience, who was going to stop them? These effing hypocrites got exactly what they wanted and wanted exactly what they got.

And one of the "elected officials" present was Dim party hack Jill Derby, who currently holds no elective office and who lost the 2006 and 2008 congressional races to GOper and former NV Secretary of State Dean Heller. Her challenging question: 'What are you going to do to halt opposition to healthcare reform?'

Last, "Anyone can ask a question" is a breathtaking lie -- we all know the drill. As for calling these puffball Charlie Juliets "townhalls," would someone kindly alert Mr. Funk and Mr. Wagnalls before the next edition of their dictionary comes out? But then again, in an age in which "seminar" has come to mean "pricey sales pitch," perhaps one shouldn't complain.

Carbon dioxide -- a gas that accounts for a minuscule percentage of the atmosphere, yet nourishes every green plant on the planet -- is an air pollutant. Riiiight.
