I think there are many similarities between Sarah Palin and Ronald Reagan and the way the left feels of them. But one thing I have noticed is just like in 1980 the left was chomping at the bit to run against Reagan, they thought he would be an easy win, when he proved them wrong they did not own up to their mistakes they just blamed the voters for falling for his acting skills. The left believes Palin is also an easy win for them, and they believe she does not have acting skills so if she does win, it will be interesting to hear their excuse. However, the Republican establishment also feared Reagan, and believed he would not only lose but take them down with him. In 1968, when he first ran for President, he received more popular votes in the primaries than Richard Nixon the GOP nominee, but the establishment did every thing they could do to destroy his run. In 1976, when he ran the second time they did it again, but he almost won in spite of them. They Reagan election team used to say the party establishment was the last group to come on board. Sarah Palin has a similar relationship with the GOP Establishment, for what I believe to be the same reasons. It she runs she will have to fight them because they do not want some like her to be the nominee.

No I do not, and perhaps he has made a mess, but I checked on his, Strickland but in the past when you have one candidate who has a spotty record on the 2nd amendment, as Kasich does, and one who has an A+ rating as Strickland does you know who the NRA is going to endorse they make it known they are not going to take non 2nd amendment issues into consideration. This is just one of those cases when the GOP chose someone who is on the NRA’s **** list as there candidate and the Democrasts chose one who has an A+ rating. If you did not want the NRA to endorse Strickland you should have picked someone other than Kasich to be GOP nominee.

In 1994, John Kasich voted for the crime bill and the ban on semiautomatic weapons the NRA fought very hard to stop. I remember at the time listening to G. Gordon Liddy on his radio show saying he would never back Rep Kasich again for any office because of that vote. That year the NRA gave Kasich a grade of F. His vote has come back to bite him, and I do not blame the NRA for it.

His and everyone else also. It is always a mistake to judge past heroes by todays standards yet many still try.

Depending on what you mean original or surviving there are only three others left. Bob Burns who is the original drummer, he played with band for the first time since 1974 at their hall of fame induction, he still gets royalties from the band, he is close to Ronnie Van Zants wife and children, he is not likely to return. Ed King was with the band when they reformed in 1987 but left for heath reasons he tried to return but the band would not take him. He also, seems to be retired from the industry. Artimus Pyle was the drummer in the accident and he has had legal and emotional problems I doubt he is able to perform. In the end I think the name should have already been retired they are nowhere near the greatness they once had I hope this time they let it go.

I will give you a real dark horse, but for some reason I think it would be a good pick. Former OK Lt. Gov. and current 5th Dist. Rep. Mary Fallin. Was a ground breaker for women and Republicans in OK but did not betray conservative causes in her votes. I doubt he will but I think he should.

Biggest problem with Gov Sanford being his running mate would be that if elected S.C. new Governor would be Andre Bauer who is not liked by many conservatives in S.C. though is he still a Republican. That also may take Gov Jindal out because then the Governor would be Democrat Mitch Landrieu, both states elect LT Gov,s separate from the Governor’s and neither Gov’s would have piked them as the LT Gov’s but that is who the have.

Some Denominations do accept letter swapping, but Southern Baptist do not recognize infant baptism as a true baptism nor any baptism that is not a full immersion. So if you are a Southern Baptist from your point of view McCain has not been Baptized and until he is, he is not a member of the Baptist Church. That does not reflect my personal point of view, but I am not trying to claim to be Baptist. I belong to the Presbyterian Church and we do believe in infant Baptism.

I gather he means he is not baptized by immersion which means until he is, he is not a member of the Baptist church and is still technically Episcopalian. Few Baptist churches will allow you to transfer your letter if you were Baptized by infant sprinkling.

I will give you a dark horse pick, I think she would be a good one. Former OK Lt Gov. and current US Rep Mary Fallin, I can not put my finger on why I like her but I think she would add much to his ticket.

That is not as easy as you make it out to be. Huckabee traction is with Christian Conservative voters. As one who is married to a family of Christian Conservatives from South Carolina these voters are Christians first and Conservatives second. Thompson has already not impressed them by saying he rarely attends church, we are in church at least three times a week, sometimes more, we belong to what is called an extended church family, which is a group of families who regularly meet in each others homes and discuss faith and fellowship. We you are sick the church is there to bring food when a relative dies they are there for you, heck when we moved last year we did not have to rent a moving van, because someone in the church owned one and let use it for free. The point is when Sen Thompson says he does not attend church he is saying the biggest constant in their life does not mean much to him. But Mike Huckabee gets it and he will have there support because he gets it, and many may feel that if Sen Thompson attacks Gov Huckabee he is attacking them. Also few of these folks understand or care to understand the Federalist Reason and how someone can claim to be Pro life but oppose amending the Constitution prevent abortions.

I believe of all the ratpack members Dean was probably the most Republican. Sammy to his dying day claimed he was a Democrat and Frank was fond of Bill Clinton though I do not recall him being a political supporter of Clinton, but perhaps someone may know more on that. Dean, however if one would notice was not part of the Ratpack for Kennedy he was always absent when it came to appearances for Kennedy.

As for Reagan few in politics will ever understand his success, because it was based on ideas and themes on what he believed to best for the country, not trying to build a political dynasty for himself or the GOP. Which in my opinion, was why it was Reagan who received so many votes from Democrats they came up with the term “Reagan Democrats”, one did not have to agree with him on every issue to put their faith in him.

You know he has an interest in this so in 2016 the groundwork will be layed for Jeb Bush’s race to the White house.

No, thanks I do not want after all, I find Dawkins rather dull. But in all seriousness if he gets what he wants, if seems like he would end up with most of the power and it seems he wants for force his ideas on the public with a God like power, and it would probably not be long before he would give himself a Nero like quality, if the Brits really want this they get what they deserve, but it would be better for all if Dawkins and Harris, and Htichens and the like just stay in their ivory tower and just try to impress each other.

I do not think Dawkins wants God out of the Country I think Dawkins wants to be God, it seems in the end that is what his kind wants, my kindred left the UK, Ulster Presbyterians, to practice their religion more freely it is odd now that the threats are not coming from the Catholics but rather the British educated class.

“Who is Richard Lamb”

If you really want to know who he is, he is the former Governor of Colorado I think he was elected in 1974 and served until 1987. In 1992 he was a candidate for the US Senate but lost to Ben Nighthorse Campbell, In 1996 he announced he was going to run for President under the Reform Party banner but when Ross Perot ran he did not get very far. Recently he was on the talk show circuit speaking out against the recent attempt to give citizenship to illegal aliens. I heard him about a month ago on the Jeff Katz show 1110 WBT AM speaking on the subject of immigration.

Not to mention the Arena he stuck Charlotte with and the McCrory Line light rail system, his push on global warming the sales tax increase, ect. and so on, the funny thing is Bill James made a similar comment several years ago and McCrory was the first Republican to run out in front of the TV cameras and denounced James as an embarrassment to the GOP.

Because there is a danger in becoming more loyal to your denomination than to the Lord. I grew up in amongst anti-Catholic bigotry it was all over North Carolina and it still exist. It is also something I can do without. We have enough enemies, avoid atheism, spiritual indifference, Islamic extremists, and many more. Now is not the time to turn on each other Protestants and Catholics need to come together. Pope John Paul II should be given much credit for trying to bring the two communities together and I worried about this new guy though I am not sure he is at all interested in coming together.

As a Protestant I myself asked this question FR several years ago. As I understand it his first marriage was ended in a legal divorce, legal annulment are next to impossible to get. After that he is free to marry whom ever he wishes and as a resident of the Bay state I guess that is literal now, but that is another story. However he is Catholic and in order to be re-married in the again in the Catholic church he would have to receive an annulment from the Church, this has not actual legal bearing but to Catholics it means something. I hope this explains it as best I can once again I am a Protestant and we do not practice it this way.

Good picture, I last saw Joe some thirty years ago, his father and my grandfather were brothers and for a while he kept in touch after my grandfather died but he lost touch with my branch of the family, but I do see pictures of him from time to time and he looks similar to my father, as I have said I am very biased on this subject so my vote may not be worth much.
