If the Republicans have the equivalent of World Class All Star Team, what do the Democrats offer? Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Martin O'Malley and other names not worthy of mention. It is almost like Major League teams playing Little League teams.
CARLY STEALS THE SHOW
Upon post debate reflection, it is clear that rookie Carly Fiorina stole the show. She radiated amazing presence, and her statements were quite compelling. She owned the audience with crisp, concise language. It was a masterful economy of words, which caused this reporter to hang on her every word. She was able to state her case succinctly without blather. Again, she is only a rookie and therefore has a lot to prove. Only time will tell.
TRUMP BOOED
Frontrunner Donald Trump had the opportunity to show himself as a statesman, with the required temperament to be president but showed more passion than specificity. He dominated the microphone for over 10 minutes and generated most of the more vocal audience reactions: a load mix of positive and negative shouts. But he lost most of the audience when he refused to take the pledge not to run as a third party candidate. That did not go down well and he knew it. If Trump should eventually drop out, it be noted that his decline began here.
TRULY AN ALL-STAR LINEUP
Meanwhile, the rest of Team Republican had positive results. Marco Rubio had a strong showing pivoting to Hillarys failings. Ted Cruz showed an amazing grasp of the facts. Lindsay Graham surprised with his somber but accurate assessment regarding security matters. But he was too dour for the otherwise electric atmosphere. Rick Perry was strong on border control and displayed a good executive background.
In fact, every single candidate presented a good case for voting for them and any one of them would make a fine president.
