Several drugs are scoring big wins against common cancers, setting new standards for how to treat many prostate, breast and lung tumors. There's even a "uni-drug" that may fight many forms of the disease. What's especially striking: The drugs are beneficial in some cases for more than a year, much longer than the few months many new drugs provide.   Here are some highlights from the world's largest cancer meeting, the American Society of Clinical Oncology conference in Chicago:

Olivia Newton-John is putting her U.S. and Canadian tour on hold after discovering she has cancer, the singer announced on Facebook Tuesday afternoon. Doctors have diagnosed the star, 68, with breast cancer that has metastasized to the sacrum, according to the statement. The star initially postponed the first half of her concert tour two weeks ago because of severe back pain from what she thought was sciatica; however, further tests discovered it was actually cancer that spread. “She plans to be touring in August. They’re all very positive,” a source close to the Grammy winner told PEOPLE on Tuesday about...

Trump Secretly Disappears For A Few Hours Overseas – Here’s The Unbelievable Reason WhyThere has certainly been no shortage of media coverage as President Trump makes his first trip oversea as POTUS and while he is doing fantastic, the liberal media is slamming him and Melania. From no head scarfs, the way the First Lady is dressed, the holding hands ‘scandal’, and the strong message that the President is sending to the world, the liberal media is determined to bash the president to the best of their ability. While the MSM does their best to cash in on anything they can...

Came back from my next to last radiation to try to ease the pain in my femur. Have had a hiatus from my Chemo. Will restart on June 1st with a reduced amount since it really took a toll on me. Nine more sessions scheduled. One good thing to report, the Cancer has not spread further. However, the damage to my bones is irreversible. I have never broken a bone in my life and I am fearful of falling and doing damage, since the cancer has "nibbled" my skeleton from head to foot. I would like to take this opportunity...
  • 'Bible Answer Man' Hank Hanegraaff Cancer Update: I Have Tumors Throughout My Entire Body

"Bible Answer Man" Hank Hanegraaff shared an update on his cancer: he has tumors throughout his entire body. When he heard that from doctors, the news hit him with the "force of a sledgehammer." Still, the Christian Research Institute president and chairman said that he remains optimistic, and recalled how one Christian woman with the same condition told him she felt intimately closer to Christ like never before.Hanegraaff, who earlier in May said that he has mantle cell lymphoma, a rare form of cancer that will require aggressive chemotherapy, explained that he was traveling in a car in New York,...

My apologies for posting a prayer vanity for someone I barely know. This is a request for prayer for a young Christian apologist, Nabeel Qureshi, suffering from stomach cancer that has spread to the lymph nodes in his chest. He is also the dad of a two year old little girl. THAT is to me, of much greater import, that a little child would lose her daddy at so young and age. Please pray for a miraculous recovery that will give glory to God! I am blessed to have met this young man when he spoke at my church approximately...

No local research project has ever grabbed the attention of northwestern Pennsylvanians quite like John Kanzius’ Noninvasive Radiowave Cancer Device. The late Millcreek Township inventor’s cancer-killing machine has been featured in local news stories for more than 10 years. It was even the focus of reports on the CBS news program “60 Minutes.” The device works by emitting radio waves that heat and destroy cancer cells that have either been treated with chemotherapy or targeted with tiny pieces of metal called nanoparticles. It had been proven to kill cancerous cells and tumors in pigs and smaller animals without harming the...

My wife has stage 4 metastatic cancer. She has battled this before and survived twice. This time the cancer has reached her brain and the doctors are a bit more apprehensive than before. Does anyone know about grants? All of her doctors are telling us to apply for grants to pay for her medicine. Any advice would be appreciated. I may not be able to respond right away, but I will do my best. Lots of planning and preparation on my part.

When it comes to spreading unfounded rumors, urban legends, and outright lies, the Internet is definitely the “Ignorance Superhighway.”  Obvious fallacies are allowed to breed and spread exponentially with just a click of a mouse.  As such, it’s fertile ground for the pro-marijuana crowd to disseminate their lies to gullible people who can’t seem to run a simple Google search in order to verify a claim. Recently, I read a ridiculous meme that claimed 1) marijuana cured cancer, and 2) the government was keeping it from us.  Of course, it had several “likes” and affirming comments about the alleged...

Charlotte Rae has been diagnosed with bone cancer. “Last Monday, I found out I have bone cancer,” the actress, who played the beloved Edna Garrett on Different Strokes and The Facts of Life, exclusively reveals to PEOPLE. “About seven years ago, I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer — which is a miracle that they found it because usually it’s too late. My mother, sister and my uncle died of pancreatic cancer. After six months of chemotherapy, I was cancer-free. I lost my hair, but I had beautiful wigs. Nobody even knew.” “So now, at the age of 91, I have...

A Northern Kentucky University student is accused of duping her parents and sorority sisters into thinking she had stage 3 stomach cancer, as police investigate what happened to the thousands of dollars raised in her name. Kelly Schmahl, 20, allegedly pretended to be ill from June 2016 through March 2017, Fox 19 reported. “Our daughter is a caring, loving yet troubled young woman who is currently undergoing treatment for issues that precipitated this pretense and the results of it,” the statement said. “Like others in the community, we, too, believed our daughter was seriously ill with cancer, and we are...
  • High doses of vitamin C can help treat cancer, scientists find

    Evening Standard via Drudge ^ | March 31, 2017 | FRANCESCA GILLETT
High doses of vitamin C injected into the blood stream could help treat cancer, new research from scientists suggests. Injecting patients with a dose 1,000 times higher than the recommended level could target tumour cells and make radiation and chemotherapy more effective. Scientists gave eleven brain cancer sufferers regular dosages of vitamin C every week for nine months while receiving typical radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Tests showed the extra vitamin – usually found in oranges, green vegetables, broccoli and strawberries – made cancer cells more susceptible to treatment. It also appeared to be safe, producing mild side effects such as frequent...

  • Study: Majority of Cancer Mutations Caused by Random DNA Copying Errors

While environmental and inherited factors have well-known roles in cancer development, a new study provides evidence that a third, and until this point scientifically undervalued factor, is at the root of nearly two-thirds of cancer-causing mutations: random and unpredictable errors that occur in normal DNA replication. Cells are constantly regenerating, and every time a healthy cell divides, there are about three random mistakes or mutations in the copied DNA. Most of the time these copying errors are harmless. However, occasionally they occur in a cancer driver gene, which is just “bad luck,” study author Bert Vogelstein, M.D., co-director of the...

A blood test which not only detects cancer but identifies where it is in the body, has been developed by scientists. The breakthrough could allow doctors to diagnose specific cancers much earlier, even before signs such as a lump, begin to show. It is simple enough to be included in routine annual health checks alongside other tests such as for high blood pressure or cholesterol. The test, called CancerLocator, has been developed by the University of California, and works by hunting for the DNA from tumours which circulates in the blood of cancer patients. The team discovered that tumours which...
