In an NBC Dateline interview, one of the 911 operators who took the call from the social worker outside Josh Powell's house, breaks his silence. In an exclusive interview with NBC's Keith Morrison, David Lovrak, who's been taking heat for his questions when Elizabeth Griffin-Hall called him, says he, like so many others in this case, didn't recognize the kind of man they were dealing with. "Especially for somebody who has done this for as long as I have, to relisten to the call and hear how clumsy and faltering I sounded," Lovrak said, "It was horrible. This has been...

Charles Rangel, Maxine Waters and the House culture of entitlementBy Ruth Marcus Wednesday, August 4, 2010 My favorite part of the ethics report on Charlie Rangel involves his efforts to "close" a $10 million gift "to create AIG Hall" as part of the Rangel Center at the City College of New York. Yes, that AIG. At a meeting in April 2008, the New York Democrat, then chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, "asked AIG, at least twice, what was necessary to get this done," according to the report. The insurance giant wasn't so sure about writing the check,...

Here’s a nice tidbit on the Shirley Sherrod charade, from now forward known as the Shirley Charade. You remember her, don’t you? She’s the former USDA employee that the incompetent Obama administration fired because of a video that was supposed to show her making racist statements. The point of the video was to show the reaction of the NAACP racist crowd that she was speaking to, but that was the point of another of my rants. But it does remind me of an old saying that birds of a feather do flock together. Not only that, they also marry. Here’s...

Prince Charles yesterday urged the world to follow Islamic 'spiritual principles' in order to protect the environment. In an hour-long speech, the heir to the throne argued that man's destruction of the world was contrary to the scriptures of all religions - but particularly those of Islam. He said the current 'division' between man and nature had been caused not just by industrialisation, but also by our attitude to the environment - which goes against the grain of 'sacred traditions'.

Canadians favour Prince William to become king Published Tuesday November 3rd, 2009 Poll | Prince Charles not as popular A7 The Canadian Press OTTAWA - A new poll suggests the majority of Canadians would prefer to see Prince William become King, not his father. The Canadian Press/Harris-Decima poll, released Monday, asked 1,000 Canadians about their thoughts on the Royal Family. Bret Baier reported that "tons of email" followed the comments of Mort Kondracke and Charles Krauthammer on the Monday panel (Aug. 10th). Rush picked up on their comments today and Mort was back defending himself this evening. I emailed the show tonight (Special@foxnews.com) and let off some steam. Just wondering how many fellow Freepers have voiced their opinions of Mort's ridiculous positions such as the ones expressed last night and tonight (comparing Town Hall attendees with Code Pink protestors) -- especially since he doesn't have a public email at Roll Call or anywhere else that I'm aware of. I trust...

Prince Charles visited the Vatican on Monday for his first meeting with a pope since his 1996 divorce from Princess Diana. The heir to the UK throne was accompanied by his second wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, who wore the mandatory modest black dress and veil which the Vatican requires for wives of dignitaries who meet the pope. The 20-minute meeting was "cordial," the Vatican said in a statement afterwards. Prince Charles's accession to the throne was likely to be an unspoken subtext of the meeting, an expert on the prince told CNN. "The biggest thing on Prince Charles's...

Britain's Prince Charles has come under criticism for using a luxurious private jet during his his current European trip whose purpose was to highlight environmental issues. Politicians, critics and the British media have accused the prince of hypocrisy, because the trip, which began Saturday, will cover about 2,200 miles and add an estimated 53 tons to the carbon footprint. This is the second time the prince of Wales has come under fire for flying on a private jet. In February, he used a chartered jet for another environmental...

14 February 2009 Darwin reader: Darwin’s racism O'Leary In the face of systematic attempts to efface from public view, Darwin’s racism, a friend writes to offer quotes from Darwin’s Descent of Man:Savages are intermediate states between people and apes: “It has been asserted that the ear of man alone possesses a lobule; but ‘a rudiment of it is found in the gorilla’ and, as I hear from Prof. Preyer, it is not rarely absent in the negro.“The sense of smell is of the highest importance to the greater number of mammals–to some, as the ruminants, in warning them of danger;...
