One of the most striking aspects of the “woke” domination of our education system is the way anyone who is perceived as a dissenter is likely to be targeted, much as members of a primitive tribe will attack someone from an enemy tribe who happens by. Overwhelmingly, the philosophy in our colleges is not “live and let live” but “agree with us or suffer.” If you thought the fine arts might be more mellow, think again. In a pair of cases, music educators have been subjected to academic “herd culling,” as one administrator honestly described his efforts at ridding his...

The following is adapted from a talk delivered on November 1, 2023, at the Allan P. Kirby, Jr. Center for Constitutional Studies and Citizenship on Hillsdale’s Washington, D.C., campus, as part of the AWC Family Foundation Lecture Series. The Covid cover-up began in China. But in a way we make too big a deal of that. No one should be surprised that a totalitarian government run by the Chinese Communist Party would seek to cover up its responsibility for a worldwide pandemic. What was mind-jarring—and what we should focus our attention on—is the cover-up in our own country spearheaded by...

January 6 political hostage Ryan Samsel could barely stand when he woke up on Thursday morning. The same throbbing pain that pierced through his left arm in 2021, where doctors discovered blood clots, is surging through his massively swollen left leg.Locked in the hole of the DC gulag, he calls the correctional officers for help begging to see a doctor to no avail. The Supreme Court of the United States has long held that jails and prisons cannot deny essential medical care to people who are incarcerated, deeming medical deprivation to be cruel and unusual punishment in violation of the U.S. Constitution....

Legal groups and individuals have shaken the foundation of diversity, equity, and inclusion hiring practices across the country with dozens of lawsuits and civil rights complaints. Sometimes, hiring based on race or gender is used as an incentive program to reward hiring managers who meet quotas. Such is allegedly the case with IBM, whose executives have been exposed for incentivizing the hiring of "underrepresented" minorities and genders. Doing so "leads to a plus on your bonus," said IBM CEO Arvind Krishna. IBM was subsequently hit with a federal civil rights complaint over race-based hiring practices. Leading the charge was former...

In a last-minute rush to sanction spending before the end of the year, the Senate enacted a $886 billion defense spending proposal Wednesday, sponsored by President Joe Biden, that includes financing for Ukraine, yearly pay hikes for personnel, and most controversially, a reauthorization of the the National Defense Authorization Act.. The NDAA funds Pentagon objectives such as training and equipment. The Act was approved by a bipartisan majority of 87-13 in the Senate. For the last 61 years in a row, Congress has advanced the must-pass defense budget measure. “At a time of huge trouble for global security, doing the...

Is the FBI Abetting the Globalist Hate Crimes Against Traditional Catholics?“Now, for any one to say that they believe in God—I doubt very much whether there is any one who really does believe, or understand what it means—but for any one even to say so is the very worst crime conceivable: it is high treason. But there is going to be no violence; it will all be quite quiet and merciful. Why, you have always approved of Euthanasia, as we all do. Well, it is that that will be used . . .” (Mr. Brand, from Monsignor Robert Hugh Benson’s...

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House is hosting nearly 100 lawmakers from around the country on Wednesday to work on how their states can try to reduce gun violence. The gun violence prevention office, the first of its kind, was launched this year by President Joe Biden. It has formulated a set of guidelines to help states take action across six areas, including creating state-run offices like the federal office, strengthening support for survivors and families of victims, and reinforcing responsible gun ownership. “We’ve been meeting with the state legislators ever since the start of our office, and one thing...

House Republican leadership pulled two bills reforming the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act from the floor, as Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., faced backlash for allowing two bills to be introduced on the surveillance law.Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., a member of the House Rules Committee, confirmed to the Washington Examiner late Monday evening that neither of the bills reforming Section 702 would come to the floor for a vote this week. Republicans have been split on how to extend Section 702 of FISA, so Johnson had intended to introduce both bills Tuesday and have the one with the most votes advance to...

Competing Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) bills are scheduled for House floor votes on Tuesday. The Protect Liberty and End Warrantless Surveillance Act would end warrantless searches for Americans’ communications under section 702 of FISA. The exemptions for the warrant requirement include an “imminent threat of death or serious bodily harm" or a “cybersecurity threat signature." FISA Reform and Reauthorization Act of 2023 would allow warrantless searches under section 702 to continue. Both pieces of legislation are being considered under "Queen of the Hill" rules, which will send to the Senate the bill that receives the most votes.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Atlanta News First) - In a rare sign of unity across the aisle, members of Congress want to make it harder for the government to take your cash without charging you with a crime. “You ought to be convicted before they take your stuff,” U.S. Sen. Rand Paul told Atlanta News First Investigates in his Capitol Hill office. The Kentucky Republican has repeatedly filed a bill to change civil asset forfeiture laws. House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) Chairman Mike Turner is celebrating the passage of HR 6611, the 2023 FISA reauthorization bill.Chairman Turner would have granted a clean FISA renewal, he’s that kind of Republican; however, several Republicans demanded changes to the FISA-702 authorities that capture the data of American citizens without a warrant. Thus, the HPSCI modified the authorities within HR 6611, but they made it worse.

FBI Director Chris Wray admitted to Sen. Josh Hawley that he has not fired anyone at the FBI’s Richmond office over the memo urging the FBI to investigate “radical traditional Catholics.” “You haven’t fired anybody,” Hawley, a Missouri Republican, said to Wray in a Senate hearing Tuesday. He pressed Wray on the FBI Richmond office’s Jan. 23 memo citing the Southern Poverty Law Center in urging an investigation of “radical, traditional Catholic hate groups.” After a whistleblower published it in February, the FBI rescinded that memo, saying it did not reach the bureau’s standards. Hawley cited a report that the...
