Health officials closed a restaurant in Colorado on Monday, one day after it opened to large crowds despite a public health order limiting businesses in the state to takeout and delivery services amid the coronavirus pandemic. C&C Coffee and Kitchen drew hundreds of people on Sunday for its Mother's Day rush, and it appeared that in some cases social distancing was not enforced. Colorado Gov. Jared Polis announced on Monday that the Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) determined the restaurant caused "an imminent health hazard."

Teller County submitted a variance request to the state Friday to ease some of the state guidelines for COVID-19. But one restaurant owner says that request is coming too late. Bob Kerr, a co-owner of Russ' Place in Divide, says the County Public Health Team has been giving him a hard time as he tries to stay afloat. Kerr says he's been letting people come inside his restaurant to order takeout and have a drink while they wait. A Colorado restaurant defied the state’s coronavirus restrictions on Mother’s Day by opening up its dining room to dozens of maskless diners. Customers at Cookies & Creme in Castle Rock — some of whom waited two hours to be seated — were also packed together closer than the recommended six feet distance, according to a video shot by Nick Puckett of Colorado Community Media. The owner of the restaurant, April Arelleno, welcomed the crowd and thanked her supporters in a video statement to news station CBS4.

DENVER (CBS4) — Jenny Nguyen, 27, was advised in Denver court Sunday of 1st Degree Murder charges in the death of Jamal Thompson, 26. DENVER (CBS4) – Dozens of protesters gathered at the State Capitol building on Sunday to call on the government to reopen the state. The statewide stay-at-home order expires on Monday, but only certain businesses are allowed to open under strict guidelines. **SNIP** On Sunday afternoon, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment says 13,441 Coloradans tested positive for COVID-19, although many more are suspected. There are 812 Coloradans currently hospitalized, down from 834 on Saturday, however only 62% of hospitals are reporting, lower than previous reporting data.

I have been informally tracking the mortality rate of Covid-19 by dividing the number of reported deaths by the number of confirmed cases. I see a trend developing that is concerning. I have been seeing the percentage increasing over time. When I started tracking, the rate was down around 2.8%. It has slowling been increasing and now it is around 4.8%.
