African American churchgoers are more likely to politically identify as Democrat than the overall African American population, according to a report by the Barna Group. In the report released Thursday, Barna found that while around two-thirds of all black adults considered themselves Democrat, a little over three-quarters of churchgoing blacks said the same. Sixty-seven percent of all African American adults said they were Democrat, while 19% said independent, 8% said they had no affiliation, and 6% said Republican. By contrast, 76% of African American churchgoers said they were Democrat, while 14% said they were independent, 5% said they were Republican...

This week, Georgia State Rep. Vernon Jones (D) announced he is supporting President Trump’s reelection. “There are a lot of African Americans who clearly see and appreciate he’s doing something that’s never been done before,” Jones said. “When you look at the unemployment rates among black Americans before the pandemic, they were at historic lows. When we add in his support for historically black colleges and his criminal justice initiatives, Trump has done more for African Americans than any president since Lincoln. I had to endorse his campaign.” “Compare what Trump has done to what Biden has done,” Jones urged....

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) on Wednesday condemned President Trump's decision to impose further economic sanctions on Iran, saying that the move was not a "measured response" in the wake of escalating tensions in the Middle East. During a public address from the White House, Trump announced that the U.S. would implement "punishing" sanctions on the Iranian regime as it evaluated a response to Tehran's overnight missile attack on Iraqi military bases housing U.S. troops. The attack followed a U.S. airstrike that killed Gen. Qassem Soleimani, one of the most powerful officials in Iran and the leader of its elite Quds...

Last night, President Trump gave Attorney General Bill Barr the authority to declassify information and documents related to the FBI's spying during the 2016 presidential election. He's asked for a number of government agencies to cooperate with Barr's inquiry, including the State Department, Treasury, Defense, Energy, Homeland Security, CIA and the Director of National Intelligence. "Today, at the request and recommendation of the Attorney General of the United States, President Donald J. Trump directed the intelligence community to quickly and fully cooperate with the Attorney GeneralÂ’s investigation into surveillance activities during the 2016 Presidential election," the White House released in...

Congresswoman Maxine Waters assured CNBC’s John Harwood on Wednesday that the Democratic Party has very few members who are “to the left of the left.” One of President Trump’s staunchest critics says the rise of Democratic Socialists within the party should be of no concern to midterm voters this November. The California lawmaker touted her capitalist credentials while downplaying Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s recent victory over New York Rep. Joe Crowley. “The Democratic Party is not a socialist party,” she said during CNBC’s Capital Exchange event in Washington. “I just don’t think our party should be identified because we have a few...

Harvard Professor and former Democratic presidential candidate Larry Lessig says the Democratic party is scared of having outsiders run for president, because party leaders have seen how powerful Republican outsiders Donald Trump and Ben Carson have become.

Civil Rights: The Justice Department explains that it dropped a Black Panther voter-intimidation case because of lack of evidence. Pay no attention to the thugs outside the polling place. Yet another reason Eric Holder must go. On Election Day 2008, New Black Panther Party members King Samir Shabazz, Malik Zulu Sha-bazz and Jerry Jackson were charged in a civil complaint with civil violations by "allegedly" violating the Voting Rights Act through intimidation, threats and coercion as they stood outside a Philadelphia polling place. It was what Bartle Bull, a former civil rights lawyer and publisher of the left-wing Village Voice,...

President Obama's strategy for closing on health care relies on blaming the insurance industry, reminding Americans that coverage is a problem and urging public opinion to shift momentum in Congress. Not part of the equation: What if he loses? "No Democrat wants to contemplate it and certainly no one in the administration, because the consequences are too frightful," said Stephen Hess, a presidential scholar at the Brookings Institution. The White House this week is stepping up pressure on congressional Democrats in a final drive to get reform on the books. In two rallies this week, Obama is hoping to turn...

Even before Nancy Pelosi, Iron Maiden of the House Of Representatives, dominated the most manly of men in her San Francisco congressional district, where there is a high likelihood that the men are actually women, she began life as a parochial-school-trained girly-girl, having just loose familial connections to the Mafia Don, Lucky Luciano. I am only guessing, that when growing up, Nancy P. modeled herself after two famous personalities of her time - as can be noticed by her current quirky behavior: Liberace, the gay piano player, and Evita Peron the infamous dominatrix of Argentina. Her girlish ,Liberace-like giggles in...

As he stands on the sidelines, seemingly oblivious to what's going on in the world, President-elect Barack Obama opts out of the game by proclaiming that there's only one president at a time. That's another way of saying, "Let George do it," when the Middle East erupts in violence, the economy continues to slump, and the governor of his state defies demands that he step down. His almost nonchalant approach to the turmoil around him has thus far protected him from adverse reactions from his real base -- the media -- but that immunity from harsh criticism has not extended...

Larry Goode column: It's not easy being an anti-abortion Democrat in October, November The Rev. Larry Goode San Mateo County Times Article Last Updated: 10/29/2008 07:22:22 PM PDT The week before the election is a very hard one for an anti-abortion Democrat. Could it be a coincidence that Halloween — the evening of All Saints' Day — is this Friday? Those who seek happiness in treats will threaten us with tricks if we don't give them what they ask for. Until the elections are over, it's going to be pandemonium, and all the demons will come out. I'll be happy...

Here's the issue. For the sake of argument, let's just say Barack Obama was correct in what he was saying. Was there any reason to be yelling at the elderly lady questioning you? Sure, maybe it ruffled his feathers. Sure, her tone was a little confrontational. So what? As President, many many people will be doing exactly that. Every time someone questions Obama or gets a little confrontational with him, is he going to lose his composure and yell at them, too?

Spending Continues on Cisneros Probe Despite Democrats' EffortsBy Suzanne Gamboa Associated Press Writer Published: May 23, 2005 WASHINGTON (AP) - Congress has refused to halt spending on a decade-old investigation of former Housing Secretary Henry Cisneros despite Democratic senators' attempt to stop it. Independent Counsel David Barrett said much of the spending goes to overhead costs, such as rent, which is required by law to ensure the independence of his probe. A Senate provision that would have ended spending on the probe next month was killed during closed-door negotiations on a broader bill paying for U.S. operations in Iraq and...

(CNN) -- Democratic presidential hopeful John Kerry Saturday carried his "help is on the way" theme to those affected in some way by diseases and conditions that could be improved by stem cell research, pledging to lift a partial ban President Bush put on the research three years ago.Bush issued an executive order on August 7, 2001, limiting federal funding to projects using existing lines of fetal stem cells, a position supported by his party's fundamentalist Christian and conservative faction."The is not the way we do things in America," Kerry said in the Democrats' weekly radio address. "Here in America...

Suggested Speakers for the Dems' Convention Marianne M. Jennings July 21, 2004/ http://www.NewsAndOpinion.com | John Kerry is a dead man. Not inviting Hillary Clinton to speak, and then flip-flopping to have her introduce William Jefferson was a faux pas of Marie Antoinette proportions. Hell hath no fury like a pant-suited former first lady relegated to introducing her eight-timing (Pacific Time) husband. John Edwards, Kerry's new gravitas running mate, and former Partridge Family member, must have had his trial-lawyer-punitive-punishment-feelers on hiatus. Where was Kerry's mind and what was he thinking? Perhaps Mr. Kerry wanted to distance himself from the Clintons. Perhaps...
