Automaton Robotics Aerial Robots Dutch Police Training Eagles to Take Down Drones By Evan Ackerman Posted 1 Feb 2016 | 9:17 GMT No matter how many regulations the FAA puts in place, drones are cheap enough now that frequent misuse is becoming the norm. There's no good way of dealing with a dangerous drone: you can jam its radios to force it to autoland, or maybe try using an even bigger drone to capture it inside a giant net. In either of these cases, however, you run the risk of having the drone go completely out of control, which is...

It's that time of year, again. I've been watching this cam for a week or so and this is the first day that one of the eagles has been sitting on the nest. I can't tell if she's trying to lay an egg or if she is sitting on one. This cam has much better resolution than years past, especially full screen. They have add a light source so you can watch after sundown. Got a favorite eagle/raptor cam link you'd like to share? Post them here so we can all enjoy them as spring approaches!

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service dropped a legal appeal Thursday to reinstate a rule that would have allowed the killing of bald eagles by wind and solar power companies.

Big Wind hides evidence of turbine bird kills and gets rewarded. Here is how they do it. In 1984 the California Energy Commission .. the primary environmental issue alluded to was the extreme hazard that wind turbines posed to raptors. ... Since the early 1980s, the industry has known there is no way its propeller-style turbines could ever be safe for raptors. With exposed blade tips spinning in open space at speeds up to 200 mph, it was impossible. Wind developers also knew they would have a public relations nightmare if people ever learned how many eagles are actually being...

The Eagles have released Tim Tebow, ending the former Heisman Trophy winner's bid to win the No. 3 quarterback job for Chip Kelly in Philadelphia, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
-
Tim Tebow's NFL career was believed to be over before the Philadelphia Eagles signed him this offseason. After a brief reprieve, Philadelphia released the quarterback Saturday, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Philly cut ties with the former Heisman Trophy winner after it shipped quarterback Matt Barkley to the Arizona Cardinals in a trade for a seventh-round draft pick Friday, a deal reported by Schefter (via ESPN.com's Phil Sheridan). On the heels of that move, it seemed as though Tebow would make the team. He certainly made a strong case for himself in the...

Go ahead and buy yourself a Tim Tebow jersey, because Rocky Balboa has just endorsed Tebowmania in Philadelphia. "How could you not like Tim Tebow?" Sylvester Stallone rhetorically asked a TMZ reporter yesterday after news that Eagles quarterback Matt Barkely was traded to the Cardinals, opening up a spot on the roster for Tebow.

Set everything you own to DEFCON 1. Tim Tebow is going to make an NFL roster. Or should anyway, after the Eagles traded Matt Barkley to the Cardinals for a conditional late-round pick, CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora confirms. The move, first reported by Jay Glazer of FOX Sports, is a stunner in advance of Saturday's 4 p.m. ET deadline to get rosters down to 53 and opens up the door for Tebow to serve as Philadelphia's third-string quarterback.

A sports columnist for the Orlando Sentinel said people ask him why he wants to see Tim Tebow succeed in his professional football career and his reasons have nothing to do the game. “Mainly it's because every time I've ever seen him at a public appearance, he scans the crowd in search of kids with special needs and then immediately makes a mad dash toward those kids as if they are a touchdown pylon,” Mike Bianchi wrote in an Aug. 22 column. “So many times these kids with Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, cystic fibrosis and afflictions we can't even pronounce...

WHEN YOU listen to Tim Tebow talk about his love for the game of football, it is hard not to feel like a soulless wretch for all of those years you rooted against him. When he looks into your eyes, you reflexively shrink away, as if he is peering into the darkest part of you. It feels as if he knows, as if the snark still echoes in his ears, as if he can still hear the cry of your cold heart as it begs the Steelers to win the toss in overtime. You want him to hug you and...

[...] Early reports on Tebow out of the Eagles' OTAs have been overwhelmingly positive. Tebow is throwing the ball better than expected, and he attributes his improvement to his offseason work with House. Tebow said the pair worked “from the ground up,” focusing on “balance, posture, sequencing, timing," per John Gonzalez of CSN Philly. [...] Reporters at practice are not the only ones who have noticed the improvements that Tebow has made throwing the football. Kelly is excited with what he has seen so far. “Watch him throw,” Kelly said, per CSN Philly. “I think he’s improved. He spent a...

Eagles Pro Bowl center Jason Kelce was just on the 94WIP Morning Show and he told Angelo Cataldi he made some comments about the Eagles quarterbacks. On Sam Bradford – “I’ve worked with Sam out there on the field. He’s still limited in what he can do, but he looks great with what he does.” “Sam can throw the football very well down the field.” On Tim Tebow – “Tebow has looked pretty good in OTA’s especially with the read option plays. It’s hard to know what Chip is going to do at quarterback because each of them does their...

Let's get this out of the way first: If Tim Tebow's workout-gone-viral had been a revelation to the Eagles on Monday, he'd likely now be arranging logistics to spend the spring in Philadelphia. Tebow remains, more than anything else, a curiosity in NFL circles. According to one team official in Philly, the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner did "fine." Sometimes, these tire-kickings are favors to players, to get them back on the radar. And this one, at the very least, did that for Tebow. So ... what next?

The Eagles have released Tim Tebow, ending the former Heisman Trophy winner's bid to win the No. 3 quarterback job for Chip Kelly in Philadelphia. Tebow was one of 22 players released Saturday by the Eagles, who also cut veteran offensive lineman John Moffitt and rookie running back Raheem Mostert. All NFL teams must reduce their rosters to 53 players by 4 p.m. ET on Saturday, but Tebow appeared to be in contention for a roster spot after Philadelphia traded Matt Barkley to the Arizona Cardinals on Friday. The move leaves Kelly and the Eagles with two quarterbacks on their...

For more than 700 football players this is the cruelest of weekends; told they’re not good enough. Or, at least not worth, what teams were paying them. They will awaken Saturday unemployed, or packing suitcases for alternative postal codes, as teams trim rosters to the 53-man limit. Among the surprise exits is Darnell Dockett, signed away from Arizona six months ago by San Francisco, but deemed unworthy of his $7.5-million contract Friday. The more familiar names waived were Dolphins’ quarterback Josh Freeman, who didn’t help his cause with two interceptions Thursday. Rex Grossman was let go by Atlanta. Steve Weatherford’s...

The popularity of the Eagles' third quarterback competition between Matt Barkley and Tim Tebow could be seen in the stands of MetLife Stadium, where Tebow's No. 15 from his one season with the Jets was spotted during the team's 24-18 win over the Eagles. It could be heard when Tebow entered the game in the second quarter to cheers of his name. Read more at
